I haven't played minecraft in a while but I'm waiting for the mod update so I can have what I imagine will be a really nice version of the technic pack.

The Technic pack is available on multiplayer with bukkit, if that sound's interesting, though I'd wait until the next minecraft update first.

Technic pack is a pain to mess around with, since I have notice that while having all of them on really makes things confusing.

I'm doing some stuff in singleplayer creative and occasionally visit Adam's server. Although I'm not playing much anyway.

I would like to do something but dont know how it would work, I would like to try skyblock multiplayer with a few people

I'm not on since I physically can't play. No thermal conductivity between my CPU and heatsink now whatsoever. Just with Firefox, iTunes, Skype, and Steam open, I'm at 65C. However, I have to build a new PC for the 9th livestream, so I'll pop around often after I get that built. Then I'll build my proper gaming rig, and you'll see me so much you'll be sick of me.

What sort of CPU are you running?

^^ I've got a Core2Duo @ 2.26Ghz. The thermal paste is 🤬 and too much has been applied (laptop). Gotta replace it, but I'll be damned if I can get those effing screws undone that hold the motherboard down.

EDIT: The stream rig will have (most likely) either an AMD Athlon 64X2 @ 2.9Ghz, or a Core2Duo @ 1.8Ghz

The gaming rig will have an AMD Phenom Ii X4 980BE, with (hopefully) the two deactivated cores unlocked to bring it to a 6-core, and will overclock heavily after about a year.

What happened to your 8-core beast you built last year?

^^ Uhh...what 8 core beast. Nick built an 8 core beast, I was going to build one using the FX quad core version, but that's crap. I changed to a Phenom II. Was trying to budget in Intel, but I have to get a 2100 or such to fit it in the budget, and with what I run, I'll be using more than 2 cores.

I saw FX and immediately thought 8-core...

I'm wanting to build a gaming desktop with a 6-core Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition but I can't find any, anywhere... :(

I win with my Phenom II 965 Black Edition...because I don't need more than a 3.2 Quad core, or my 8Gb Corsair DDR3, or either of my Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 1Gb cards :D and no, I didn't buy the graphics cards because they have the same name as me :sly:

Don't see what the problem is, 65C is normal for me if Im running a bunch of crap with my minecraft, there were times where I had it around 90C when I was messing around with a bunch of stuff and forgot to close half of it out, graphics card on the other hand I had it up to 100C by accident since I had youtube in the background while playing Minecraft.

Didn't you tell me that it wasn't your computer...

Phenom II's are being phased out. Only place you'll be able to pick one up now is in Ebay. I've got a winner with the 980 since I can get a courier to ship it to AU for $20 (buying from Newegg).

Uhh, naaaa. My specs of my new rig to be:

AMD Phenom II X4 980BE (will hopefully unlock to 6 core, and heavily overclock to 4.5GHz or higher)
8GB Kingston HyperX 1600MHz RAM
Gigabyte 6870 OC

👍 Owned. :P

No, I get 60C AT IDLE. 65C with some programs running, and 90C+ with Minecraft running. Those temps you have are still too high, a general rule I abide by is that a CPU should never hit in excess of 75C, and a GPU shouldn't hit in excess of 85C (under 100% load). With what you're running, you wouldn't be maxing out your chips. I'd suggest looking that up, either getting better cooling to your chips or if you're using a laptop, replace the thermal paste. You have very hot temps. I have ultra-hot temps.

CPU and GPU's temps varies on new vs old.
CPU temps should be around 70-90C while a few of the newest ones can go to 100C
GPU temps are around the same, thats under load. 100C is up there but could go higher depending on what game. Also GPUs can handle the more heat.

I don't have those temps anymore I run a max of 65C when playing Minecraft and 70C on CPU, 99% of it was dust, Also you have said overclocked, that would explain the excessive temps, while yes it does increase the power but it also increases the temp.

Wow mate, wow. You're going to fry a lot of computers. CPU temps should be around 70 - 90C!?!?!??! Man, that's way to hot. You really need to go and check out the Computer and Technology forum, post a thread, and ask everyone what temps you should be getting under load for your chips.

Also, it's not 'variers new vs old'. The amount of heat that a chips throws out has a lot of mediums. So a smaller, say, for example, GTX550ti wouldn't pump as much heat, as it's a smaller chip, dosn't use as much voltage etc. Where as a GTX580 would kick more heat, as it's a more powerful chip, and requires more, well, power, obviously.

I never said I have overclocked my CPU in my Mac. You really do need to start reading posts carefully before you respond, and respond in a way that people can read. Even at 65C and 70C, you're still running a little warm. You should try a few more things to get better cooling. Take it to a technician and get him to replace the thermal compound.

And for something on the subject of minecraft, does anyone have the latest scoop on 1.3?

So has everyone given up on DQCraft? :(

I think the problem at the minute is that the new update has arrived and everyone is unsure what's happening. Last I heard we had no multi-world ability and the world we were building in had been changed to the jungle one, leaving Tori Sands behind, not to mention the place we had before that (I can't even remember the name of it now)

It's nice of them to release so many updates but given that all of the latest ones require new world generation it's getting a little annoying!

My laptop hits a max temp of 55C under load.

Well of course. Your processor only takes 18watts with the cpu and gpu in full load. Plus it has a pretty small size of 40nm which makes it a very small processor. Great for cheaply made heatsinks to cool the processor with.

It also means I get great battery life. :)

Kinda hard to connect to the server now that I've fixed my thermal issue, when it's offline. Reboot please?

(this is why we need another admin with remote access)

Host ran out of space. I've submitted a support ticket and am waiting for them to get back to me.

Remote access wouldn't help one bit.

*edit*
Up and running again.

I've been on lately after earning myself some time off from other things, but the game has been crashing constantly, running out of memory and general java crashes, the latest update must be a bit intensive.

Do they not realise how much this screws up the servers?!!

*edit*

Server updated

*edit2*
Put back to 1.2.3 to investigate some griefing.

*edit3*
Not sure to update again or not as there will be no HawkEye protection while we run on Vanilla.

I own a private server for my close friends, and this really messes this up. There wasn't even a Recommended Build for Bukkit 1.2.3. Some features of the update are annoying too, especially these:

+ Made cats more realistic (read: probably annoying). I hope it’s enough to cancel out any joy you may receive from the previous feature! (Ok, cancel our joy)

+ Wooden planks now have different colors depending on the wood they came from (Annoying if you need lots of planks to make a house and the colors don't match)

Sorry for the mini-rant

Yeah they are going to be pretty annoying.

Bukkit should be updated any minute now.

I actually like the new wood planks. Birch planks look gorgeous.

Can't wait to see all the houses built with different planks... :lol
