I finally decided to get this mission done. I figured I had a chance because I've been doing the 200 A-Spec point thing and am at 35,xxx points at 30% with all but one race at 200 points. I failed after 6 hours of gameplay over the last two nights. I actually wasn't upset or anything even though I finished a tenth back and within a second a couple of other times. It's because I really enjoy driving this mission. Fortunately, I run two machines so I reduce the wait time dramatically by starting the one machine's timer when the one I'm driving is down to about 15 seconds then pause the game when I'm in third gear right after the big sand trap. Tonight, I was able to get things done in about an hour (9:12.160). I've probably driven this mission 100 times. Oh yeah, I cheated and bobsledded two sections and shortcutted another three. Maybe I'll get good enough to win without having to cheat. A friend of mine drives the Ring like it's real so he doesn't intentionally crash over the rumble strips or go through the grass. His best is a pretty impressive 1.9 seconds back. That's actually close enough that he could probably torpedo the last car, but he won't lower himself to my standards of 'do whatever it takes to win, it's just a videogame'.:crazy::crazy:

Edit: I forgot that there are people from different regions of the world on this board. I'm running a US version of the game using a Logitech driving force pro wheel.

i cant wait till i get close enough to the 300sl so i can put him into a wall :grumpy: this mission is extreamly annoying with the F'in AIDS on

There is a big piece of advice earlier on this page. Exit speed is king, if you go in too hot you won't be succesful, it took me about 6 times and I won with 3 seconds over that old Merc. (sl300?) Avoid kerbs, may be stating the obvious, but you lose time and most probably the control of the car. I got the E190 just as we got onto the straight on my succesful run. It wasn't a perfect run either, I ran wide twice. The corner I struggled with was the one with the big bump and the sand pit on the left, the bump is your braking point, I always braked too late, I knew I struggled so I just, eased off before the bump. Stay calm, if you're aggressive you'll probably fail.

When you 'ran wide', was all that in sand or grass? And did 5 sec. penalties result?

No, I didn't hit the wall. It was sand, I wouldn't say I was really far into the sand, maybe 2 car widths, but in that car it went a little sideways, I didn't spin though.

Be smooth, get good exits and you should be fine. And if you make a small mistake, don't get angry, I won by 3 seconds and lost at least 2 off the top of my head. Also, streamlining on the big straight can help a bit. Just remember the last bit after the straight, that can catch you out in the SLR.

...but, when you do get it, it's a great feeling.

The anxiety on the last overtake, and the adrenaline rush in the end, I haven't ever felt that playing a video game ever before.

i finnally got it and i felt like it was a huge waste of time trying to compeate a half arsed craptastic mission. (the R89 is nice but still not worth it)

i was playing last night and concentrating on 100,000 points, as you can see now that is complete i had 10 min's to kill while the wife finished up her tv show before going to bed.

even though i have completed all missions.

start up m34. was doing ok untill i got a penalty about two min's in to my run (after you go down the hill then up to the left hander just before the famous grass cut area)

i though god dam. kept going though. ended up finishing with a total time under 9:12 and a win.

just hought i'd share with every-one. :)

ive clock this mission, boy it took me like 100 trys to get it. finally i beat it by 0.220 secs. something like that. and ive completed all the missions, atm at 98.8% completion

Yes, same here,I remember that when I first tried it I gave up. Then periodically months at a time I would give it another go and one day I sat down, the look in my eyes and just entered "the zone", if that exists. I finally got good enough to do it, finally. What I never realised was that you don't have to race perfectly like some missions, you just gotta know the track and be quick yet within the limits so you don't make mistakes. One or two minor mistakes are acceptable though.

That takes years at Nurburgring.

Still a cool track.

Ya think, I reckon not years...... decades, but seriously though, it's not that hard when you race it fairly often in driving tests and missions,I reckon I know it all just about now.

On this mission you don't need to know every single braking point for the Nurb. You've got quite a lot of leeway on this mission, I imagine a perfect lap could win by over 10 seconds.

definately a fair amount of leeway. i have completed a very sloppy lap with a few off's (slides on the grass) and a 5 sec penalty and still passed the little sh** on the front straight

The ring's my favourite track, but it still took me quite a few attempts in that barge they call the SLR.
Got my 100% too. Woo hoo!
Black F1 car mmmmm...

thats because you're playing the PAL version with 12 seconds advantage over us NTSC guys

(i came in second so many times because of this its unbelivable)

As I've kept away from M34 ever since I passed it (a long time ago, that is) and have got quite a bit better as a driver since then I'd like to ask the ones that have recently managed it one question: which one do you consider to be the most difficult thing in this game, M11 (PAL), M34 (PAL), or the S-16 licence test? Depending on the results I might give it a new try some day.

Well, I'm NTSC, but I think M11 was fairly easy. M34 and IA-16 were about the same, but M34 was much more frustrating because of the wait. Otherwise, it wasn't too "hard" at all.

super licence test at suzuka (s12) i think was the hardest for me.

Remember the golden rule in this mission that has been stated many times...

SLOW IN, FAST OUT...

And yes, I think this mission allows one or two MINOR mistakes, but it is often enough to destroy your confidence by doing this kind of mistake =(

Oh yeah, I have the PAL one (118 s waiting)...

I'm feeling so respectful for those who completed this mission in NTSC...I'm an average GT4 driver, not a real good GT4 player.

I managed it with 0,018 sec lead :D

I think it was my 5th or 6th try don't really know that

I was even wondering how i managed it because I wasn't driving that good :sly:

But I'm happy I've finished all driving missions a half year ago and just have the 2 Sarthe-enduros left :scared:
