Thursday practice 1 has been and gone so I think we are in need for a thread.

It's funny how teams dress in one off's for Monaco, there's Ferrari's overrals:

Kimi's helmet:

Super-Red Bull-man:

Even Bernie is in a good mood:

NOTE: Barrichello is racing in Tony Kanaan's helmet this weekend after the two friends said they would race eachother's helmets at the races each would love to race in. So Barrichello will be representing Kanaan's desire to race at Monaco this weekend whilst Kanaan will be in Barrichello's colours at the Indy 500, a race RB would love to be in. Simple...

Oh and Alonso topped the times..

Montoya, faster than Alonso. I told you McLaren would win this race. :p

Anyone seen the steering wheels the Mclaren drivers will be using. Diamond studded

Saw it this morning on TV but can't fnd any pics on web 👎

"Damn it. Shrinkage!"

...and hell yeah, the drivers can't go the whole race without SOME form of kool-aid.

McLaren's debut to Grand Prix racing was at Monaco in 1966.

So much about Grand Prix racing has changed since then; ironically, Monaco is largely the same, except for the swimming pool and La Rascasse.

Sweet, Red Bull's garage is the daily planet. I wonder if they're gonna have little capes flying off of each wing.

What's up with MS's overalls, though? Is ferrari going to drive yellow cars or something? That would be awesome.

Finally Kimi didn't had to change his engine! :) And that drink button must be linked to an installed water-distribution system in the car.

Oh wow! Iceman in an icecar in Iceland err, Monaco! :dopey:

Nope, sadly they are still red and most probably stay red whilst we are all still alive.

as always, i hope mclaren can pull off a win. It would'nt be very entertaining if renault or ferrari dominates again :(

Last year, the redbull pitscrew consisted of storm troopers and a darth vador. I wonder if they will all dress up as superman this year lol

Maybe DRINKS is the acronym for some sort of super-advanced billion dollar stealthy radar-absorbing heat-diffusing carbon fiber flame-resistant new secret device that McLaren is simply passing off as a beverage delivering thingy to get it past the FIA scrutineers?

If that's the case...I wonder what DRINKS means? And does? o.o

Also, Raikkonen's engine dies. :(
No it doesn’t.

It’s kind of like the pattern on his helmet—that’s my guess.

Probably means "drinks".....and probably gives the driver a shot of liquid through his straw....

Please tell me you're kidding.

All of the drivers have either water or Red Bull on board in a pump system, sans Scott Speed, who gets shots of jager.

Honda at it again...

Look at that! The tether didn't work again... and a slow impact, too.

Anybody else watching the practice session?

Nope but I have seen pictures, pretty worrying how the wheel flew over the fence. :scared: Wouldn't want to be a marshall right now. :nervous:

(extract from MONACO GP - THURSDAY - PRACTICE SESSION 2 REPORT)
Honda's Anthony Davidson was second fastest but caused two red flags in the course of the session: the first when he knocked over a bollard and then the second when he crashed the Honda into the wall at the exit of Ste Devote and tore off the front left wheel.
There were a number of incidents apart from Davidson's two red flags. Robert Kubica crashed his BMW at Rascasse while both Mondini and Franck Montagny both had spins.
Some pics would be nice, too. :guilty:

It seems that monaco is not a very safe track. It is also one of the more boring tracks with very little overtaking.

Yet its one of the most well known and praised tracks of formula 1

and damn, i just realized this race is goin to be on CBS (again) :indiff:

The track layout of the port of Monaco is legendary by its integral place in european motorsport, either with Formula 1 or in rally around Monte-Carlo. As one of the original events of the World Championship, it has grown as its most prestigious, akind of Indianapolis and Daytona.

I'm sure you know about the reason for which the free sessions are being held on thursday instead of the regular friday. The weekend begins into this civilised party atmosphere where everyone rich and popular wants to be and be seen at. Thus the second part of prestige. But for the two following day, while this festive atmosphere reigns on the night, cars and pilots combine to deliver amazing feats of racing in the city.

With a track surface used by daily traffic each 51 other weeks of the year and walls constricting much runaway space around, the inclusion of the Monaco GP year after year transforms itself into a kind of nonsense. With safety becoming more of a concern to the administrating federation, debates over the place of the yearly visit casually pops out. But I personally think that Formula 1 wouldn't be the same without it's annual and exquisite 'parade' in the Principality of Monaco.

I thought last years race at Monaco was pretty good, so I'm hoping this one will be as exciting. Plus it's very different from all the other tracks.

Yes, there have been a few deaths at Monaco, but not in a very long time. The thing about Monaco, is that you can’t really injure yourself by hitting a wall. It is a track that will eat cars for breakfast, but, because of the nature of most Monaco accidents, drivers will remain completely unscathed.

Alas, that is the nature of street circuits. But I would not call it boring – I can think of plenty of tracks that throw up less entertaining races, year after year.

Because it’s one of the most entertaining races of the year… 💡

Well, I'm currently working on tickets right now for a late night flight to get there.

I told people before I would not miss this year's, and I won't.

BTW Bubble, it is SO much more entertaining in person, but I'm sure you can get a seat in about 6-7 years.

The hardest thing about watching this in person is the fact that the seats are constantly sold out for years. Right now, there's seats that should go on sell for the 2010 year.

I agree. The only way you could do serious damage to yourself is fly into the water, a la Grand Prix

Take the F1s back to Adelaide I say, that is an awesome track, you can over take on it, and 90% of it is still used every year by the V8 Supercars. This is coming from a Melbourne boy too, but Albert Park is a pretty ****ty track in my opinion.
