Buy the concerned car, go to the concerned track, race till you know the track to your finger tips, go back to the mission hall and beat the concerned mission :sly:

Thought I would do a trial run at M11 tonight. I had previously lost by 13 secs and 10 secs.

Tonight:

2.8 secs
0.192 secs

see attached image (you may be able to see the little Mazda in the background) - margin was 2.x secs

Now for the rally car at PAris and M34.

I read this thread over the weekend and was amazed at how many people are stuck on m34. I only have a few of the driving missions done so far (have the deloreon and the pagini) and have not really been bothered untill now. So sunday afternoon i decided to see what the fuss was all about.................... Err what fuss? i did it first time!!!! this may have something to do with the fact that the nurburgring is my fave course though and i probably spend more time spanking cars round that than doing anything else. I will try and get some pics but i dont have a usb stick, does anybody know if my ipod mini will work as a usb hard drive?

Its because you have the pal version which is Easier, BTW Eunos The license tests are there for a reason, with improving physics the best way to learn the game is to do them and the missions make you a better driver.

Can it really be that different? I think people are just making excuses

What are the differences between Pal and the NA version then?

I still have 4 to do - 3 laps at NY, CD'A and Le Sarthe and M34. I haven't tried any of them yet so I cannot comment. (I did all the one laps first except M34 because I wanted to leave the last to last), and I picked off the others as I felt (and because of personal track preference).

The most frustrating for me, was Seattle - M14? Took quite a few goes before I beat it - rather easily in the end, but driving that car was a real pain.

PAL SLR handles better and you have 8 seconds less than we do of waiting time.

I wonder why they made those differences.. Maybe they realized it was too hard to begin with in between the two releases.. In what order were they released?

naaa its because the ntsc is a bunch of tight asses.

i hated that slipstream with the skylines, realy!
and for mission 34... it was way easier then i expected,I got it done at my 1st try with 2 penatys.

and 4 sec easier lap time required

NTSC needs 9.12, PAL needs 9.16

edit: the times here are mission times.

The actual lap times once you start moving are:

NTSC 7.09
PAL 7.21

And if you are doing free runs to see if you are quick enough you need to adjust these times for overtaking time and the fact that free run is a rolling start unlike the mission. To play it safe aim for 7.05 in NTSC and 7.17 in PAL (this is based on the fact that on an ideal run most people are only held up by 1 maybe 2 cars as they overtake ie if you catch one car in an awkward spot the next one seems to be easier (that is what I have observed). Daan for example only seems to be held up a little bit by his 2nd victim and a lot by his third victim but the others are ok.

I think you need to do your practice in the actual mission and just learn to wait the 2 minutes at the start.
Make the wait work in your favour by relaxing and focusing your mind on the job at hand, visualise the brake points etc.
One of the hard parts of the mission is safely passing the AI on some very high speed sections of track. You cannout practice this on a free run.

But you can not practice high speed cornering (risk free) in them mission. You need both skills but for the first part of the track you do not see a car so you need to know the highest speed you can take each corner at. Even for the second half it is good to know hiow fast you can take each corner at and then try it with a car in your way.

I think this is especially relevant to M34. Other missions it is not that critical. So far I have not practiced for any of the 32 missions I have completed outside the mission itself (M34 I have).

yep number 13 is the only one left for me to pass , though i dont reckon the mercedes on the nurb was as hard as people say, took about4-5 goes to pass, but then again ive driven this track and le mans more then any other. any one else struggle with the skyline gt-r slipstream battle that was a pain.

Last night I completed M11, 15 & 18 so I have only M34 to go to reach 100%. I didn't have any problems with those missions and still consider Seattle as the most frustrating. I know the 'ring quite well from the tests and various races so I am sure I will complete M34 this week.

Minor update on my M34 progress.

Best margin for a completed run is 4.5 secs down. This included a 360 degree spin and a 5 sec penalty.

Since then I have bettered my T5 time by 4 secs and found a few corners in the second half that I can take quicker.

Should get there soon. Then still the rally car to go.

Does anyone know if there's a mission thread telling you what car (+tyres) is used for every mission, and what time to aim for during practice? This would be VERY helpful if you want to practice without having to do it in the actual mission

There is a simple way of finding out the tires. Run the mission and then watch the replay. At the start of the replay it will have a description on the screen eg for M11 it has Com/Com meaning comfort tires. You also have to take note of whether TCS and ASM are on. In M34 TCS is rumoured to be at 2 and ASM is off.

It is really only the 1 lap magic where you may want to practice as you have the wait time. I would suggest ask specific questions wnd someone may have the answer.

Okay.. I was just wondering if such a thread would be appreciated...

And for a little off-topic.. Damn, just missed the black cars for the second time :P started saving up money too late... well, at least I got the black gt one.. I guess I'll have to wait another 700 days :S

That thread would be appreciated but I don't think it exists. Most missions seem to have TCS 2 and ASM off.

If I get M34 out of the way I may check my replays (don't have them all) and post what I find out.

The only mission I have practised for (just started) is M34. The only other long wait is at Suzuka but I managed that one quite easily due to my knowledge of Suzuka.

For M34 (and likewise for others?), I am assuming the SLR is stock, I have changed nothing. Though I will now look at the TCS and ASM (thanks guys). For a target time just add together the following: time for lead car to finish - time lead car starts ahead of you - 4? secs for grid placing. For M34 that's about 7.07. I also go over the s/f line in practise in first gear at about 30mph as the mission does not have a rolling start.

Had my first practise last night and was down to 7.10s so I need to get a bit quicker.

Steven

Down to 3 secs. And I had them by the $^$^s, got excited, checked to see where the black bas$^$% was and ran wide. I should have known not to try it before everyone else was in bed.

I had 1 crack this morning (that is all time permits) and got a T5 split of 59.6 but screwed up overtaking my first victim.

I just need to stay calm and I think it is mine.

StevenDunn99 - I assume you have PAL version. If so I think your required lap time is a little quick. My calc is 9.16 (complete time for front car) - 1.55 wait time - 4 secs grid placing - 4 secs for overtaking space = 7.13.

Your time looks about right for NTSC - is that the version you have. It might be a little slow for NTSC actually by 2 secs.

What's the difference between the m11 toyota 2000gt with com/com and the one i bought (fitted with com/com) ?

I'm able to force my own to turn a LOT sharper than the one in the mission, also mine seems more.. well.. bouncy.. Has it anything with springs to do?

Try turning off ASM and TCS to 2. If that does not work try different ASM settings.

I doubt there would be any setup changes.

the hardest for me by far is mission 34 I finish 30 seconds behind the 300sl I tried it a couple of times and then gave up.
If you have completed this I tip my hat to you
can you not delete these damn things
