A typically infantile response.

I don't get why people are so defensive about the idea. Do you have no self-restraint? How would it affect you if there was an option to just unlock everything?

There are no valid reasons against it imho.

You pay for a game with 1000 cars and x number of tracks. Why should someone have to jump through hoops to use them?

What he said ^^^

to the op wait a few months gameshark will probably have something for GT5 by then.

that's what i did with GT4 got to a point where i just got board with it and unlocked every thing. been playing it like that ever sense for the last 6 years lol on my second disc as the first one got scratched up and frozed all the time

Because these people just get upset that someone got the same car they did for less work, even if in this case, it's in a different mode.

I don't see cheat codes any worse than the folks who have been commenting on what races to do for the most money in the least amount of time w/ the best car, b/c it's clear that their intentions are to race that same race over & over just so they can use it as their personal "gold mine" for when they need a lot of cash for a couple cars instead of beating other events to earn the money.

But isn't repeating races almost compulsory? Can you even pass the game 100% without doing one race/event twice? So either way you will be "racing over and over again", it seems the smart thing to do is to pick a race where you earn a decent pay day and grind away.

All the replies that say "play need for speed" or "don't play video games" are such lame replies. We don't all have the time to spend hours getting gold on our license, but it doesn't mean that we shouldn't want to have some fun with our cars. After all it's a game and I want entertaining. Driving an old split screen camper around the top gear test track is just not fun.

So anyway, that's my reply. Flame suit on :)

FYI getting golds on your licenses doesn't give you any money, just a few pre selected cars, some of which are fast, some of which aren't

Having every thing locked is everything what's wrong with this game. People should be able to enjoy the full game from the start! In FIFA, i get all teams and all stadiums at the start, so my friends and i can enjoy good football with best teams, i don't have to unlock them. Same in FSX, i can fly whatever i want, wherever i want, no unlocking.

Trust me.....6 years ago I thought the samething till I saw a LAN race and all the drivers were so fast and accurate around the track. From then I always got my moneys worth from GT. Take your time this game will last you about 5 years if you have good health. lol.

I don't know if it's been already suggested but in my opinion unlocking savefiles would suffice. It would also help those who have corrupted files.

This would work, but most of the complaints in this thread have been "we don't want people who have cheated online", which makes sense I suppose. Unlocking Arcade keeps everyone happy, which in my mind is the only way to change anything.

Cheats in Gran Turismo

No Just No

I would never use cheats for a gt game no matter what my line of work is or how much time i have to play it ...

mods please LOCK :yuck:
Mate that's a bit of a stupid statement. All the guy wants to do is be able to drive the cars in the game that he wants. Without having to grind away for hours on the same track, in the same car.

I can see where your coming I wouldn't use cheats in GT either but I don't understand why PD dont just let you drive any car of your choice Arcade.

I support this suggestion.

I'm not exactly having fun griding with cars and races I don't care to use.
I had the most fun in GT4 after all the grinding is done, and I can just do time trials with my favorite cars.

Simple they don't pay enough. In GT4 I just wanted ALL the cars. Mainly all the racing cars JGTC, Le Mans etc These cars were really really expensive C4,500,000 I used to grind on the same race over and over to be able to afford them, but that got super boring so I found a cheat disc for infinite money.

Now I completed the game so I know how much money you earn, for completing all of GT4. About C15,000,000, that's enough for...3 cars woo. That is just ridiculously small, and I would have to play for 20 years to get all the cars I wanted in the game, so some form of money cheat was literally the ONLY viable solution.

This is the kind of thing I'm worried about. I did pass GT4 (a teenager with a lot of time on his hand's). I remember redoing certain races over and over.... Until someone does pass GT5 100%, we have no way of knowing how much cash you get if you only do each event once.

I'd like to place a large bet on the fact that you have to redo multiple races, which in my opinion, has no place in racing games.

I understand where you are coming from machschnel. But as others have pointed out, cheats are a poor solution for what is a (most likely deliberate) design choice. I'd rather have the copy-protection of the save-files removed. This will solve your issue as well as many others (e.g. online GTP or other events that require specific car/track combos or running online with a different PSN ID).

About the level-locking aspect: I don't think that's a really big issue, I have hardly played the game the past week and I'm already at L14. I think it's safe to assume you can unlock everything in a month or two/three even if you hardly play at all.

Except a lot of people don't do the same race over & over to get closer towards 100%. They do it so they can buy one of the expensive cars & be done with it.

Frankly which, I have nothing against. GT5's system flows somewhat close to Forza's, & that was annoying, so anything to lessen the burden is fine by me.

I'm sure many of us are guilty of the GT4 Rally race where you won the Toyota & got $250,000 for it.

I see where you're coming from, but some of the cars are priced too ridiculously.

I just bought a TommyKaira ZZII from the used car lot for 50 grand, yet i still have to pay over 300,000 grand for a stinking V8 Vantage. Why is that?

Aside from that, I guess some form of cheat could work in Gt life (repairs are free, anyone?), but i usually don't have to do that kind of stuff because my friends and i trade cars regularly, making it much easier to complete Gt life.

Do we have any Doctor or Lawyer or any other highly paid per hour types here?

I'll bet for the amount of their billable time those guys have to waste to earn money/EXP in GT5, the REAL LIFE car would be cheaper in REAL $$ for them to buy!

Who use cheats for GT? The most I have ever used cheats on GT wasn't so i could "Unlock all cars" or " infinite money" or "all Gold in everything". It was merely for hybriding purposes. That I consider ok because all your doing is making the game a lil more interesting, but seriously, cheats for a new release that no one here has even mastered or even come close to unravelling its entirety.

I agree with everyone else whos says lock the thread. Plus isn't there a section for this under the "gameshark subforum"?

those that did grind away their life in the career mode can still feel pride in knowing what they have achieved, without questioned what's in someone's garage.
Wow, that's an awesome attitude. /s

Seriously though, why do you even bother writing here, when all you do is bitch and complain about how others that are better than you have "grinded away their life"?

You're saying that people who have played the game and gotten somewhere, are people with no lives, and no noteworthy cars in their real life garage.
And you want people to side with you? That's just awesome.

👎

No Gameshark for the PS3. If they were going to make one, they would have by now I'm sure.

Anyways, I used the Gameshark for GT3 and GT4. Course that was much later in the game so I could just get all the cars I wanted and tune them up to my liking. Then I would just drive them around various tracks or bring them to photomode for fun. I don't really care for using cheats to complete a game (well maybe a few in GTA4 :p ), but rather just to have fun.

As far as GT5 goes, I would rather just allow for all cars and tracks unlocked in Arcade mode, and fix the credit issues in GT Life.

+1 for cheats

I kinda feel like I'm not getting my moneys worth out of the game because I can't devote enough time to it. Being a great GT player shouldn't be measured by your a-spec level or amount of cash you've managed to collect, but rather your ability to setup a car, your race craft, lap times, and drifting ability. GTP will hold events and the cream will rise to the top and with cheats it won't be because someone grinded more than some else but because that person was simply better.

I understand where you are coming from machschnel. But as others have pointed out, cheats are a poor solution for what is a (most likely deliberate) design choice.

Not all design choices are good choices and the people who put cheats in are usually the designers so I would say that the cheats are actually a design choice of their own.

I'd rather have the copy-protection of the save-files removed.

It's not like both can't happen...

Assuming unlocking the save doesn't result in just locking it to a PSN account.

Was a lot of that leveling special events and license tests? If so the XP growth rate drops dramatcially after those are used up and the xp between levels goes up fast.

Whatever would help me unlock all of the game's content so I don't have to grind is good. I'd like to be able to download game saves or enter in cheats that give me a zillion dollars. I don't drive GT5 as a game. I drive it to drive. I don't want to have to waste my time driving races I don't want to do in order to level up. I still don't have the Nurburgring because I have to level up before I can even be allowed to do the intermediate challenge.... for me, this is ridiculous. In case any of you are wondering, it's not because I'm incapable of doing it. I've won literally every race I've done in the game, and have golds on every challenge I've done (I let a friend blow through the license tests... boring)

First, when did I ever say anything even remotely like "no noteworthy cars in their real life garage"? Nor did I say "people who pass it have no life". Neither were ever even so much as implied, so I'd get your facts straight before you lecture me.

Second, I don't want people to side with me - thats the whole point. I want the game changed in way that effects no one (unlocking Arcade Mode). If you don't want to play Arcade, you don't have. If you do, its there.

That's what I don't get. I'm not trying to force you guys into anything, or saying the game is rubbish. I just don't have as much time as others (now before you get emotional again, that was NOT to be read as an insult) and to be honest, even if I did, I couldn't see myself ever getting 100%, I have the attention span of an 8 year old.

Seriously though, why do you even bother writing here, when all you do is bitch and complain about how others that are more time constrained than you want a simple change to the Arcade Mode that would have zero effect on you ?

True. Also, I never said the design choices were good, just deliberate. ;)

It's not like both can't happen...
Again, true, but somehow I suspect both happening very unlikely.

Assuming unlocking the save doesn't result in just locking it to a PSN account.
I gave that some thought, and it's not a huge issue (for me ;)), since you can gift cars back and forth between your accounts. You still need to unlock the tracks on all accounts though. But at least you won't lose all your progress if your PS3 dies (or you get a new one).

Was a lot of that leveling special events and license tests? If so the XP growth rate drops dramatcially after those are used up and the xp between levels goes up fast.
Yes, I have started to notice this as well. First 15 levels are really fast, then it slows down dramatically.

GT5 is the first game I have tried to play online. I feel self consious as I havent done it before and am worried I am going to get in the way and smashed by everyone online, however I purchased the Signature Edition of the game so have the stealth cars but chose to turn up online in an Evo so as not to have an advantage.
Having an Unlock for the game in arcade mode would be great for a player like myself who likes to pick a great car and track then devote a few hours with mates bettering our lap time, not to abuse the main game.
I still cant beat the TG challenge and only have silver and some gold on the licence tests, so i may never have the opportunity to do some of the things I purchased the game for which WILL affect longevity of the game for me.
