The traditional F3 panic at Lisboa. Warms my soul.

I cannot help but to read between the lines that Lisbon (known in Portuguese as Lisboa) has been hosting a F3 race of some description, and that it is a chaotic race to boot. It is not true, of course, but I can't help it. Blasted Portuguese heritage in Macau... It doesn't help that one of the most hurt drivers in the Leon Supercopa crash was a Portuguese one, of all things.

It's like South America took the tifosi celebrations at Monza whenever Ferrari wins a race in Formula 1, turned the knob all the way to 11 and gave it that Latino flair that you see in soccer games... That is Turismo Carretera's true charm right there, no way around it. It's one of the most passionate touring car series I've ever seen...

Question: are the cars sorta like stock cars or super cars?

I'd say more like NASCARs; tube frame chassis, sillhouette bodies and V8 engines are the common factors between TC and other stock car series. It's a more "crude" series, so to speak.

I was watching some old F1 races and came across this  Searched the thread and didn't find anything with Nelson Piquet.

Nelson Piquet and Eliseo Salazar

The exact moment when Nelson became Bruce Lee,

This has been posted before,

The camera's probably pointing at the car. He's using the selfie stick to get a higher point of view.

Yes, that is the most likely "idea" that the "photographer" had at the time. Definitely not an usual way of using a selfie stick, but that must be some sort of DIY photography trick. Still, did he really need to run after the car as it was driving away? Also, where is the security team to prevent people from running into the road itself...? Well, apparently there wasn't any, otherwise he wouldn't even be near the side of the road, much less on it.

He was running after it to get the perfect shot. There weren't any security teams there, probably because it wasn't an actual rally. They're just doing some off season testing in a undisclosed area where this guy somehow found and decided to record a video.

Why would there be security to stop him? It's a rally!

He should have just bought a better camera and taken a shot from the sidelines... is ass-tards like that, that get killed and make it worse for everyone else.

Fair enough, I was under the impression that it was footage from a proper rally, not a testing session. In that case, there's no way that the roads would be under the keen eye of police or something along those lines. You know, traditional rally safety measures.

I don't agree with it, but I've seen video footage from a rally, I believe in Germany, where a car was stuck in the ditch, the driver and co-driver are screaming at fans for help, and there are security guards in bright yellow visi-vests holding the spectators back. At first they're successful, but eventually the spectators mob rush the car and outnumber the security. Even though that happens, the one security guy loses his mind and starts ripping people away from the car as they are trying to push it. Eventually the other security guards have to detain him, dragging him away and then completely giving up the fight against the spectators.

It's one of the most amazing/strange pieces of footage Ive ever seen. I'll see if I can find it. It's probably old and everyone here's already seen it

Edit: it's WRC Germany 2014. This is probably a repost

I hadn't seen that before. It raises an interesting point; it's conventional for the fans to help to get stricken cars back onto the course but in recent times (and beyond, I guess) we've seen that spectators on the course can easily meet with tragedy.

What are the security to do in this case? They were clearly briefed against the convention that was expected by the fans and the car's occupants. My suggestion would be that if fans are barred from the course (as one might say they should be) then security should have got their backs into the car :)

"No way-"

Antonio Pizzônia rolls a Jaguar S-Type R with his passenger, Autocar journo Steve Sutcliffe. In error he used the braking point as you would use in a Formula One car.

Never fails to make me laugh

Glad they are ok,

Kinda see why his career never really went anywhere,

I think a certain Duke Nukem quote is most appropriate for this situation, just is crazy to calmly say "No way" while the impending doom quickly comes at you that quickly.

I prefer a Jeremy Clarkson quote for situations like this - "That's not gone well".

Pizzonia was one of those many, many middle of the road F1 drivers. Mediocrity personified. Not Taki Inoue awful, but never good enough to do anything amazing.

Wasn't that just F3000 drivers on general? Liuzzi, Toccacello, Pantano...
