Let me get my head around that one.

Perez goes into the back of Saavedra in what looks like a case of he expected Saavedra to go round the corner a lot faster and then locks his brakes trying to make the corner resulting in him hitting Saavedra again.

Saavedra then makes the most idiotic attempt to drive off and instead drives on top of him. Maybe even deliberately as the wheels were still going forward when he went on top.

He shouldn't be flagging yellow for that incident as he's past the incident. He should only be flagging yellow if something has happened further down the track.
 
If you watch the marshall closely you'll notice he kind of glances down the track a couple times, so maybe someone else parked their car out of shot before Rainey.
 
Baltimore's so weird, if it wasn't for that chicane it has potential.

They are so worried about speed there, well then add a real chicane not some dumb tire barrier that just gets in the way.

Why on earth would there be tire stacks on the track acting like a chicane?! I mean, come on!

They need to get rid of it.

...I'm not sure that there's room for a "real chicane." It would be very nice to see the cars routed around the train tracks, but I don't believe it's feasible to move the surrounding buildings... The surrounding buildings, I believe, are quite permanent.

Ironically, the chicane is there to prevent drivers from being hurt.


High-speed crashes are normally dangerous. The Baltimore street circuit (circuit in question) does not have, well, any run-off area for the safety of the drivers. Then, given that they're going over an extremely bumpy part of the circuit there, with train tracks crossing the road, they feel that it's extremely dangerous.

Precisely. I've seen a couple of times when the flag marshals waved the yellow before the full-course caution was called. This can, on occasion, create chaos, since one flag marshal may not be waving the full-course-caution flag, and the other will be.

I've seen it, maybe twice, where the drivers "don't believe it's a full course caution" until like the third or fourth marshal has their yellow flag up, because some of the marshals are waving them, and some aren't.

I get that it's a tight track but that is a joke to try to slow cars down there because it causes problems every year with something. If it is an issue, then make that a corner, turn down another street and make it basically one big U shaped corner using side streets (there seems to be room there add a proper chicane though)

Man, Baltimore Street Circuit is one crazy track. But they should widen the track, go down a wider street for the start/finish, or at least try to find something to replace the chicanes, but safer for the drivers. Yes I agree high speed crashes are dangerous, but a pile up can be worse. What if a car flips during a pile up or a driver stopping from high speeds but collides into the group of crashed cars?

I see where you coming from, but they need to improve the track or race somewhere else.

This. If the ALMS wants to race here, then they must improve on the track main flaws before something worse happens.
