I don't think so. Look right, look left, look right again...

Car>Pedestrian. Except on marked pedestrian crossing or controlled crossings. Maybe that is why you've been hit several times and I, thus far, have never been hit. :D

Here's one of my pet peeves. Kind of confusing now that I've drawn it...

Its in our highway code that a motorist turning off a main street into a side street must give way to pedestrians crossing that side street, if the pedestrian has already started crossing.

But they are in a hard, metal car, and you are a soft, squishy, fleshy, puny human. Do you want to argue?

British Highway Code says if the pedestrian is already on the road then it's their right of way.

Thank God I read that last night, my instructor asked me today

What the balls. The car can be going both ways, either turning left or right, but it always happens when the car is turning in to the street.

And i think i drew the pic wrong aswell lol, im usually like on the edge of the footpath, with like 1 foot on the road.

How can a pink PS3 be your pet peeve? It's pink, do you not like pink? It is a lovely color, don't you think?

And obviously not done in paint which sorta fuxxors the idea of this thread rendering the post as useless as a hammer with no head......
EPIC FAIL...

This drawing will suffice for one of my pet peeves - Pedestrians who think they have right of way on the roads. The only time a pedestrian has right of way is at pedestrian lights (showing the walk signal) or zebra crossing but even then if you have right of way it's common sense to still make sure a car has stopped. A car is bigger and tougher than a person and will win out everytime in a collision, always assume they haven't seen you until they have actually stopped for you.

In the US, pedestrians have the right of way at intersections, marked cross walks, and more or less in rural zones.

If you hit a pedestrian and it clear you didn't try to stop and had time to react, you are pretty much going to get in trouble for it in the US.

Any intersection with a stop sign, stop light or any marked path or crosswalk, the pedestrian has the right of way. I've had a guy walk out fearlessly in front of me at a crosswalk in a 50kph zone. I slammed on the brakes and stopped my nose just before the yellow lines. He didn't even blink.

I actually read somewhere that peds have right of way in this situation, thats why I said it. If its a law, well I wont complain. Thing is, when most cars turn in they often stop before someone walks onto the road where we walk.

In some towns they have very strict rules. In Gatlinburg, as anyone who has been there knows, the pedestrians have the right of way no matter what, and the preferred technique for crossing the street is simply to cross the street. They'll stop. And if they don't they can be dealt a huge fine and and jail time. And that's if they don't hit you!
