i hate it when pedestrians just walk out, just because its a zebra crossing doesnt mean your surrounded by a force feild protecting you from cars. They dont even look, just walk.. cars have to give way doesnt = cars will stop in time.

Ofcourse, I do look before I cross and dont go if I see a car coming fast, but I still expect them to even look at us peds. They know that we are gonna cross but they dont care, thats the problem.

In Australia we don't have to giveway to pedestians unless there is a crossing for them (Zebra, traffic lights, schools etc). Though many do anyway out of courtesy (especially for the elderly or diabled)

If I am driving down a residential zone( or any without a specified crossing) and want to turn left I don't have to giveway to a ped who wants to cross (hasnt started yet), though as a driver I am always anticipating the ones that daydreaming . When I am a ped I am always fully aware of traffic and am happy to give way to them, I like to keep clear of those 1000kg+ missiles. Also even if the ped is in the right........ I would rather yell at the driver on the side of the road then be pushing daisys.

When you finally get behind the wheel of a car you will change your view. It's a lot easier for a pedestrian to stop than a car, I don't know how many times I have had people just walk out in front of me without a glance in either direction to see if a car is there. Mind you today, as a pedestrian, I pushed the button to cross and the 'little green man' flashed up straight away, I went to step out and a car came flying around the corner. They didn't have a red arrow to prevent turning and as far as the driver was concerned the 'little green man' would have flashed up after she thought it was clear to turn.
When it comes to anything on the road, it doesn't matter if you are in the right or not, it's whether end up dead or not that counts.
