I am open to having new car selection rules as well. In another series I have participated in, they allow a max number of four cars that are the same model. This allows almost anyone to get the car they want while keeping the playing field somewhat even. With sixteen in a lobby, that would be a minimum of four different models per race. Personally, I would lower the number to two or three. This would make a minimum of eight or six models per race.
With only being limited to 16 cars in one race. Think 2 car limit is the number. It guarantees at least 8 different models for a full field. Most real sport car series only allow 2 car teams. So it fits in with that.

I think all the GR4 cars can be competitive if you practice with your car enough, that's what BOP does. The only real limitation is the FF cars with tire wear on, they chew up tires too fast but with the Audi and Megane you also get cars that out accelerate the rest. It's about figuring out how to overcome your cars short comings with some cars.
The Corvette is pretty bad on it's front tires. And it just start plowing once the front tires wear too much. This not going to a good track with the Corvette. There is a limit on what you can do about thoses short comings. Especially without tuning for handling issues. Brake bias adjustments only work so well.

I practiced with my Aston today, it looks like I will probably have the same tire wear issues.

And it looks so stupid and is super cheap. Nobody does that in real life. They drive their car and everyone is on even ground. Because gentlemen.

The down side on the new qualifying Settings for online lobbies.

Starting the qualifying is the same as starting the race and if for any reason you leave the track or car the game will not let you rejoin. After qualifying is over it automatically goes straight into the race.
No late entries can join in once qualifying has started.

If for any reason we have to do a restart it will make you run the qualifying again. Does not give you the option to skip qualifying and restart just the race. Hopefully restarts will be very rare.

Besides those issues it's a great addition to the lobby section.
I have qualifying set at 10 minutes with a 60sec after end of qualifying delay. Tire wear is set at x10 and fuel is the same as the race Settings X3

New Times and Settings

Lobby opens at 7:00pm EST
Practice will be from 7:00pm EST to 7:40pm EST
In game Qualifying starts at 7:50pm EST for 10 minutes then it will go straight into the main race at 8:01pm EST for 1.5hr

Qualifying tire wear is at x10
Qualifying fuel is same as race X3
Qualifying end delay is set at 60sec
You only have 60 seconds to finish the lap your on after the 10 minute clock is up.
Race starts automatically after all qualifying timers are up.
The tire compound you use for qualifying will carry over for the race.
If you wish not to set a qualifying time and start in the back of the field then stay in the pits in your car and do not leave.

Everyone must be in their cars and ready to go at 7:50pm because once qualifying is started you will not be able to join in the lobby anymore.

All breaks must now be taken before qualifying starts and during the open practice. I will no longer need the 15 minute break to set the grid. Please use any of this time before qualifying to get yourself ready for the next 1.5hr of racing.

Your call at the end of the day but personally would’ve preferred to see fuel off for quali and tyres at a lower setting. On a long lap you’ll have to crawl around on an out lap and it’ll really benefit any cars that are good on tyres at x10. Plus if you’ve got to do really slow outlaps promotes fuel burning.

Only my opinion of course but personally would rather see 10 mins of quali where we are putting in as many fast laps as we can.

Oh boy, here we go.

restarts and more restarts as guys show up late. inevitable or we'll end up racing with fewer drivers and last minute appearances get left out. Will it even set the grid correctly? PD has never been able to figure this simple stuff out.
i dont like it.

It’s exactly the same system as GT6 had, except GT6 didn’t have the “set by host” grid option. Resetting the grid after a mass DC or late arrivals takes 30 seconds

Can you change from P/Q/R to P/R within the lobbies in GTS or is it like GT6 and you’ll have to make a new room to get rid of the qualifying session?

I feel like for a race/group like this, the way we’ve always done it is the best way. Having the specific qualifying session isn’t really necessary and will just complicate things.

I would say test it out for this race and see how the P/Q/R setup goes but if it doesn't work out how you want then go back to the original way of setting the grid manually.

Why the tire wear increase for qualifying?

We have to test things out to see how it works but I don't feel qualifying needs zero Settings because it defeats the point of even adding it in.

I get complaints on both sides of this argument. A lot of people have felt that the way we did qualifying was not fair either giving those who showed up when the lobby opened up a better advantage..and they do.
The new way everyone is under the same time limit with around 4 laps to get in a qualifying time.

Qualifying Settings do not give you the option of no fuel burn. It only allows you to keep it at the race Setting or higher. Race Setting is at x3.
Tire wear is at times x10 because like in real qualifying those tires do not last but a few laps. I got 5 laps of qualifying including the out lap in 10 minutes with tires halfway gone.

The new settings should make qualifying a little more strategic now instead of just running hard every lap. It does no good to pit for new tires during qualifying because you will not get a qualifying time in on time.

I have never restarted a race to let someone in. If your not ready to race when it's time then we go on without those people period.

GTS is making you start a whole new room if you want to change this setting. I might be able to just change the settings over to the old setup without closing the lobby but we didn't test that out yet.

Exactly.

I've talked to other people who have already put the new qualifying changes into their races. So far everything is working like it should.

That's not really the car so much anymore. What series still uses qualifying tires like that?

Not a complaint at all just an opinion I’m easy either way, I like having qualifying regardless so I’m sure it’ll work out fine. Didn’t know you couldn’t put it down to zero.

Its not that the tires they qualify on wont last more than a few laps its just that they are at their fastest the first lap or 2 then they start to fall off a little.

Yeah it says keep at race settings or you can adjust the values higher. It will not go below what you have set for the actual race.

For me It's sad to see so many people wanting to open the car selection up. @fastone371 understands why we have been doing the way we have.
I guess very few of us like the challenge of getting to know your car and dealing with the short comings or rewards it has to offer. Letting people using the same car multiple times just completely changes everything about this Series for me and one of the things that made it unique compared to other Series.

More on qualifying

Had the qualifying settings been in the lobby section from the start then our Series would have used the in game qualifying from the beginning.

Giving everyone the chance to do qualifying laps for up to 45 minutes was very extreme but unless I wanted to change the lobby settings twice to rest the lap times and risk problems while it was reloading the lobby then this was the only way I could to do qualifying and it run smoothly.
During that 45 minutes people could run down their fuel & put on new tires to get faster lap times...and they did.
This was something I had to allow because I just don't have the time to monitor that kinda stuff while taking care of everything else that arises along the way. Keep in mind I have to also run my qualifying laps during that time as well.

Now we have in game qualifying and it should be more difficult than before. People should only get 2 or 3 laps Max to put in their qualifying time.
10 minutes for qualifying will give people the opportunity to sit in the pits for a few minutes so the track gets spread out and not all running together. This will allow those same people to still get 2 or 3 good qualifying laps in.

X10 tire wear on qualifying is plenty enough wear for everyone to get 3 good qualifying laps in but for those who are the first ones out on the track for qualifying they can get a lap or two more in than those who have to wait so having x10 tire wear keeps that advantage way down once your on lap 4 or 5 of qualifying.

I am not fast enough to worry about catching the people in front of me while qualifying.:bowdown::D:D:D

I guess that is one of the disadvantages of being so damned fast.:lol:

Okay guys I'm new to the series and what not....but seriously what does qualifying really matter at all.

1. There are no points at all associated with the series it is just to be for fun correct?

2. With an endurance race this long the faster guys will come out on top 95% of the time. Cream always Rises to the top.

All this caring on for 10 minutes of qualifying is a joke in my eyes and personally uncalled its qualifying get over it go out and run your race. Just because you start 1 or 15th dont meen a thing at all. you have 90 minutes and lots of strategy to play out to get the number 1 spot. Just saying
