Congrats to Yannik and Perro for winning their classes!

Thank you Bill, and props to you for organising the whole thing. Had a lot of fun today with the vette.

Except when I touched Rob trying to overtake him and send him in the grass, I was feeling so bad, I've waited for him to regain the track and I was happy to see him finish second. Needless to say that I was being more cautious when approching miatas.

Great job buddy and congrats for the win Perro. 👍

No problem. Although I was demented with rage when it happened. So much so it took me a few laps to calm down and start driving half decent again. By which time Fabian was long gone and I was back in the trenches battling it out.

You should have carried on because waiting around just made it even more awkward into the next corner. When you were a lap up on me, giving the position back isn't really giving the position back. I'm still a lap down and not directly racing you.

Still very surprised a few of the Mazdas didn't stop at all! Yes the tyres last but being 2-3 seconds per lap off the pace towards the end soon adds up, as I guess you found out.

See you guys next week.

I wasn't as clean as I could have been at the end and I still only finished 2 seconds off the podium after qualifying 8th. I would do a no stopper again given the same scenario :)

I was running 1:41 even on lap 44.

Cant wait for next week!

I'll post results, points and pics when I get off work.

Great race yesterday, loads of fun. Congrats to Yannik and Fabian for winning their classes, good stuff 👍

Brilliant race everyone, congrats to the class winners. Good racing with Whitey, and in the last laps, Ghoast. I've only passed you a handfull of times in our long friendship, thanks for keeping me honest, your the best! And thank you Bill, nice job on the race series, loads of fun!

great race guys, had some great fun, and i must appologize to u again bill, misjudged the braking of the vette against the much lighter mx5, wasnt a hard hit as none of us got damage, but did put u in the kitty litter, aside from that, was a great race, and congrats again to yannik and fabian on winning each class, look forward to sunday, lets see how u guys overtake us now that we will be in the mx5's lol

I am watching the replay and goindycolts has every right to be p o'd! Horrendous

Yea that was a shame. He had a great race going; was very competitive. Sadly the driver responsible was new to our group and I didn't realize he was having connection issues until too late. I was giving that car sooo much room lol. Feel terrible for Joe though :( Hope you still plan to race with us next week Joe ;)

I'll be there bro, but I'm not nearly as competitive in the Vette so I'll likely be bringing up the rear. I'm a racer, though, and the main reason I joined this league was to get better so hopefully I can at least keep the pack in sight this time.:P

You never know. I was over achieving and destined for third til an incident with a miata. Pit strategy is an equalizer.

Btw if anybody plans to make any reports please do so by the end of the day tomorrow.

I can think of a few small issues that may warrant drive-through penalties but we'll see.

Hey, being in the Mazda is no picnic! You have to spend almost as much time looking in your mirror as at the track ahead. It's highly distracting.

At least in the vette the majority of the action is happening in front of you, and you only need to look in the mirror for other vettes. For this reason I'd say the vettes actually have it easier but I guess we'll find out next week. 👍

Maybe so rob. We shall see. I'm a bit confused as to why me and azbay have less points then ghoast tho?

He got 5 Points for winning the qualifying race, and 2 points for getting the pole during qualifying :)

ahhh right haha, that explains that 1 then, didnt realise there was points for qualy

You have the right to take your revenge on me.

Don't tempt me :sly:

I'm not suggesting either class has it easy just that IMO you have to split your attention a lot more in the Mazdas. A couple of times during the race a corvette ripped past me that I didn't even know was there. Whoops! :scared: And I was checking my mirror and map all the time!

I quite like the extra dimension the multi-class adds to the racing though. It was definitely the most intense race I've ever participated in. Usually these type of big grid races feel to not last very long at all but that one felt every minute as long as the time suggested.

I wouldn't mind getting a practice room together this week to practice techniques for letting the vettes through while keeping my pace and even for the vette guys to practice getting by us.

I am an extremely cautious and patient driver and even I had many close calls and an incident. It is very hard to know what someone else is about to do and judge when you're closing so quickly.

The most important thing for the Mazdas is to not worry about what the vettes are doing. Run your line and they will find a way by. Obviously don't turn in on them, but unless they are beside you on turn in, it's your corner. Moving out of the way is the worst thing because then you become unpredictable.

I started to take pictures and got bored. Soo much going on I got lost trying to keep track. Maybe I'll post some stuff later, probably won't have a story like last time though :)

Now to business:

There are a few penalties that I'm forced to issue. It's extremely important the we make it clear how a Vette taking out a Mazda is unacceptable. It's the Vettes job to be patient enough to find an opening. As a result, every Vette driver who either caused damage to a Mazda or forced one off track, will receive the minimum penalty of 25 seconds. All three of these incidents were extremely minor, and obviously accidental. The fact is they all could have been avoided by using just slightly more patience and that's key. The separate classes are not racing each other and we need to remember that. These infractions would be penalized in real life for sure, and that's how we need to call it. Hopefully there won't be any penalties in race two. I'm extremely thrilled that there was not a single incident between cars in the same class though. In fact, there were only three minor incidents in over 700 combined laps of racing, so everyone can hang their hat on that.

The following drivers will receive 25 second time penalties:

Yannik - GTP_Worst_Driver (Contact with Rob - Turn 5)
Kevin - Whitey093 (Contact with Derrick - Turn 2)
Carl - Carlos (Contact with Bill - Turn 10)

As a result of the penalties, the final official standings through race 1 of 2 are as follows:

+1
Even in a race where I grossly misjudged pit strategy, it was still very engaging throughout the race, even tho after 25 laps I knew I had blown it. I still had great battles with a variety of people. The Vettes never caused me any issues, tho I think I might've scared one pretty good once, when I changed line during a tough-to-call corner. I all worked out ok though. I should be stronger in the vette.

Also wondering which standings to go by: the ones on the home page, or the ones in this thread...
