I say yes because it affacts the way we dress and the way we act and talk...

Personally, it does not affect my life style.
But some friends of mine does get affected by the music they wear.

Personally, yes, and I could go on for DAYS about how it does, but I won't. If you've ever listened to "Nothing's Changed" by Chris Isaak or a few songs by John Mellencamp or "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen, you'll understand.

Usally, it comes as a package deal. Your trying to find out who you are.... so generally you'll go through different stages, trying to be like your role models...

If the look your going for is associated with a certain genra of music, and the type of cloths they wear appeal to the desired look...then you'll find yourself looking like them, and wearing their cloths...

Now, there are a select few that just appreciate music. Example...I know a lot of people that like Reagge, but they don't have dreadlocks and they don't touch pot, and most of them avoid Red, Yellow, Green color combinations..

If I dressed according to the music I enjoy listening too, I'd be one strange lookin' dude, not to mention that all my cloths would have to be custom taylored, because I enjoy a wide selection of musical genre's....

So that's my opinion...

Well, not decide - influence perhaps.

I personally find a lot of my favourite music identifies with a particular emotion I'm feeling at a particular time, or how I feel about a particular issue - I really need to connect with music at a personal level for it to have any significance, probably why I can't stand a lot of the top 40 stuff - just soulless, manufactured rubbish.

My answer is yes, and here's why......

the question is: does music decide our lifestyles?. Don't we choose the music we listen to because it has some connection with us? Say you like classical because you are a mathematician, say you like mosher music because you're a massakist* (spelling is wrong). Do you see the connection? You choose the music that relates most to your lifestyle, that's how it is. Country people like country music. Baby boomers like baby boomer music.

we all have our prefferences to music right, so that means that there are all of the different lifestyles with different people. I don't know if my point is coming off or not. It's late, i've got ap tests in the morning.

Our music decides our lifestyle, because it was our lifestyle that decided what kind of music we listen to.

There I think that was the point I was trying to make.

"Does our lifestlyes effect the music we listen to?"

So, is listening to classical music going to make me a mathematician? No, it's not. But already being a Mathematician, I find that I like classical music.

Based on your reasons why you answered yes, I would say that the question would have to be re-worded to fit your reasoning..

Here's how I would re-word to question: "Your lifestlye, does it decide what music you listen to?"

does music decide our lifestyle? that's a strange question. i think it makes more sense if you say 'does our lifestyle decide what kind of music we listen to?', but then again that's an equally vague question that's almost impossible to answer. because there is so much diversity between humans...you might find two completely opposite people listening to the same music because they interpret it in different ways and see it differently. but i'd say that my lifestyle - that is my ethics, values and philosophies - decide the music i listen to.
