So my mom totally didn't approve of the earlier Trans Am. Or anything else I've brought up. To that, I raise a new point of discussion. A 15 year old point, running under 100,000 miles, with a 3.2 Yamaha V6.

SHO

But it's an autooooooooooo! [/whining] Who knows how many miles it actually has, the ad says 99,999 which I'm sure isn't accurate. Course what's funny is the auto version has a 3.2L vs a 3.0L for the manual, and it has 15 more ft-lbs of torque.

It looks like legit mileage due to look of the car, but you can never be sure. I'm sure the odometer will read 100,000+ so if it does, then that's probably the right stuff. If it doesn't, I'm gonna say it flipped a couple times.

A SHO is a great car regardless of the transmission. Yes its faster and more fun to drive as a stick, but the auto isn't exactly a slouch--and its better for traffic.

Alright, so now I've built up more money and my dad and I will be going to sort insurance soon enough, my hunt has finally gotten into the more serious stage. Right now, off my usual Mustang trend, I've found 2 nice looking 'Birds.

5.7 F-Bird

VS

4.6 T-Bird

Hmm I'd go with the T-Bird, less mileage for less moolah, plus if you drop in some Mustang goodies it could be quick and luxurious.

I'd go with the Firebird. Even if anything does break, parts are everywhere. Not to mention it's faster. :sly:

Sooo much faster. 👍
Firechicken. That is all.

And auto:scared: But that's exactly what I was thinking. Not to mention it gets the best mileage and most likely lowest insurance.

Wow, I'm seriously confused now. My source for 0-60 and 1/4 mile has the F-Body turning times EXACTLY the same as the '95 Mustang GT.

I hate being confused in my options, haha. I'm smelling Mustangs over these 2 though. But alas, I don't have insurance quotes, which will inevitably be the thing to screw me.

Anyone willing to part with a '99 GT for cheap?

I thought your Mum didn't approve of the V8? Well, hope things work out for the best.

Wait, what?

lol @ GM in that case.

Though I doubt that's accurate. Might be for about a 1992 or earlier Z or TA with the 350. Because the 350 isn't all that much ballsier than the good 'ol 302.

And about the T-bird idea... 5.0 cars FTW. Not sure when they swapped but... Yeah. Or a Supercoupe. Either one.

Shes finally cracked and said "If you can afford it..."

Nah, I thought it was weird and looked a few different places, the '95 Formula runs 6.7 to 60 and 15.1 in the quarter mile by factory specs. But versus the mustang, we're talking 60 hp difference and .7L. I think it's underrated.

That T-Bird is a 4.6 mod car. Apparently it switched in like '94 from the 5.0 to the 4.6.

I'm still on the lookout for anything sleeper and stick if you guys have any suggestions. For Autotrader, within 75 miles of zip 34212

Er... The Mustang will at least crack the 14s stock with a decent driver.

Meh, it's just GM.

That seems too underrated for a Trans Am. I thought they were low 14s cars?

I'd hope so!

If anything I'd expect the Formula to be faster, due to most likely a small weight savings. It does seem slower, seeing as a '88 Tbird with an '88 Mustang 5.0 and gears in it runs 14.6-14.9

Weirddd

Here's my limited knowledge rundown of what I saw today. I'm going back tommorow to actually talk to the owner about it. Note, I've moved past the Autotrader cars for a local Camaro.

The Bad:
Clearcoat is coming off
Dash is cracked in a couple places
Auto trans

The Good:
2,000 bucks
5.7L LT1 motor
Dual Exhaust
Z/28
'Vert

The Ugly:
It wasn't there 10 minutes ago when I went with my dad. The owner is not home either so I think he's driving it around, or someone else is interested.

Like I said, swinging back tomorow in hopes of catching owner and car.

I'm gonna call the owner again tommorow and hope he picks up, try and set up a meeting tommorow. I really hope it isn't sold already:nervous:

Alright, so the Camaro is a no go. It was very nice to drive, but needed:
Front End Allignment
Left Front Tire
Driver Side mirror(not housing, just mirror)
and 2 Seat Covers

Those things would not have stopped me, but an oil leak orginating somewhere around the valve covers did. It was lightly smoking in the engine compartment and moderately smoking from the cat because of the oil running down to it.

But, I learned 1 thing. There's 1 thing that bites harder the the VTEC bug, and thats the big V8 bug
