How could you not want one? They're fabulous.

Actually I see the error in my judgement. Obviously this oozes fairy.

Hah. This has the same wheels as my car. Wait. OH GOD!!!

Damn! That's mean looking. Too bad we were talking about a Z31...

Are they on the Evo or the Legacy/Liberty/Whateveryoucallit?

I realised that the car in question was a Z31, but the 300zx/fairlady distinction stands.

Same wheels as the ones on the evo. The legacy rolled on the standard 17's.

OK, I'll take the whip back now thankyou. That was when they were new I assume. Now all gay people want apparently is hatchbacks (fuel sipping non-peformance hatchbacks) It was on Autoblog a few days ago. I guess the 300ZX grew more masculine with age.

I think the point we're trying to make is you should get a car based on how well it fits your needs, not what other people may or may not think.

Yeah I know, unless it's a pope mobile...........or a minivan :p

Hey GT90210, why not get a Dodge Stealth/Mitsu 3000GT? 💡 I can't see insurance being too high on a naturally aspirated model, so why not?:dopey:

Dodge Stealths are stupidly high on insurance, a buddy of mine has on and he pays more for his 1991 car then I do for my 2007 car.

300ZX's seem had to find, that might be an issue. They are also extremely heavy from what I have been told by others who have owned them in the past.

Avoid 3000GT's and Stealths--insurance is very high. And Top Hat is quite genius-saying "My first car was a 300ZX" does sound much cooler.

It's good enough for me, not my lifestyle choice. But it won't matter much, because only a handful of people will know that anyway, and will likely assume that you didn't when you purchased it making everything A O.K.
Buy a Pope-mobile though..... :sly:
Pope-mobile. Lol. Think of what I could do with all that room in back...But its a merc:nervous:
Get a quote on the 300ZX, because saying "My first car was a 300ZX" is way cooler than "My first car was a Mustang".

In your opinion. I don't think I can beat my dad though.

His first, 1967 Mercury Cougar 5.0L 302 V8. (In '77)

My mother's first car was a 1969 SS Camaro. My first car was an American rust bucket with a gutless Japanese engine. :indiff:

Nothing wrong with a minivan...just find yourself an older Caravan from the late 80's, and a Dodge Shadow with the turbo-4 and 5-speed and swap them into the van, and you'll have yourself quite a sleeper! :p

I just thought of something. You know what would be totally kick ass? A Starion. Easily the best 80s car from Japan (ignoring the Nissan twins that started sales in 1989).

Or the equivalent Chrysler Conquest TSi...just make sure it has the sport package with the sport suspension and larger wheels and tires.

Might I enquire what that was?

Welllll, if I could find enough space, maybe an LS1 or something in the minivan

1989 Dodge Daytona with the naturally aspirated Mitsubishi 2.5L I4 with a whopping 100 bhp.

Ouch. Insurance couldn't have been too bad on it though.

I think what might be driving mine up so high is the fact I've been in an accident.

Volkswagen Corrado.

One of the best damn FWDers of all time. I'm not a big VW guy, but my brother's picking one up soon and I can't wait to beat the crap out of it.

Its quite possibly the best VW ever (well, except the Beetle). Even if its an MKII chassis wrapped in an MKIII wrapper, the parts are super-reliable, the car is pretty cheap to find, and they're going to be collectors items soon.

Skip the G60 (ladder-charger has too much lag) and go for the SLC (VR6)... Just an f'ing awesome car.

I actually saw one of them the other day. Pretty good lookers actually, and if you can find one it shouldn't be to hard to get a few more horses out of it.

Yes it was marketed in America as the Conquest.

Agreed. The Corrado is awesome.

Actually America did also get the Mitsubishi Starion.

I never said we didn't. The car was marketed in the states as a Conquest, I never mention we also didn't get the Starion. One is for sale a couple mile from my house.

I would wager in the insurance is quite high on it.

Ah, I misunderstood. You made it seem that it was just marketed in the States as the Conquest, and not the Starion.

They do look fantastic yes, and I even liked the interior. But they are hideously slow unless you have the turbo.

Bah, I say just buy a late 60's/early 70's VW Beetle. Cheap, reliable, easily customizable, great mileage, and great traction! :p

Actually, thats a really good idea too. Mileage is a bit iffy (my understanding is that you'd be lucky to pull of 25 MPG), but the parts are infinitely cheap... That is, if it ever breaks. I remember looking at complete transmissions on them not too long ago, seems like they weren't more than $500. Hell, you can get a racing-spec engine in one for less than $2000 in some cases.

But all those I see have dead interiors and more rust holes than I can shake a stick at!

(Baja bug though, THAT'S what I'd do)
