It's only 2WD? I thought it was 4x4 lol. I think those extra cap peices would look awesome on it. On the back 2 wheels, you should put some Ford mudflaps/splash guards and on the sides where you took off the tube step up you should put on a diamond plate foot step/runners, similar to this (these would be perfect):

But instead of extending to the rear wheel, have it cut off at the end of the cab. For widening wheels, the best you can do is buy some sort of suspension kit. You can't go bigger than 33's on these old Fords without getting some sort of lift kit (believe me, we tried it, 35's and it wouldn't turn, and we wanted to go bigger), and a with a 3 inch lift or bigger, the driving feels extremely different. Right now our current specs are:

33x12.5R16.5LT

Which is the biggest you can go.

Any bigger (and we have a half inch lift now) and it won't turn. 12.5 is the widest you can safely go without issues. What are you running now?

These are chromes, ours are white with red paint, like second picture but with red on the inside, 2 tone.

Obviously these aren't the rims we are using, but these tires are the ones, and those are the 33X12.5R16.5LT's. These tires are Cooper Discoverer Radial LT's and freaking AMAZING in the summer, but are really loud in terms of humming. For winter, get a second set of rims and get Cooper Discoverer A/Ts if you can find them since they were discontinued, or Discoverer ATR's which are the next best.

Also consider picking up one of these for the front of the truck, it helps the bugs and actually works, and looks great! We've got 2 (both broke though after 26 years) and are red, they come in smoke, black, and red.

Different strokes for different man, I hate those massive old man steps

I'm running 31x10.50s on the stock wheels. I'm going to go up to 32x11.50 or 33x12.50 when these 10.50s wear out. Probably 32s if I don't wanna regear. I've got a 2.5 inch lift in the front, so I know I can clear the 33s with no issues

16.5s are interesting... Are there many tires or wheels in that size? And do they come in my 5x5.5 pattern?

I live in Florida, winter here is 40 degrees and sunny  My next set of tires are going to be mudders, and that's only because there's not a bigger size of my current tire, I love these things. Goodyear Wrangler Authority A/T

Seems again too old man for me... Out of curiosity, can I ask what your age range is? I'm 19.

I'm actually 16, but that deflector makes your truck look pimped. 16.5's are actually kind of rare, I don't think they make them anymore. The tires are still available though. He bought the wagon wheels 20+ years ago. As far as I know they come in most standard patterns and some other more hard to find sizes. You can always check with your local dealer to see if they have them. I'm pretty sure thats what ours are, 5x5.5.

EDIT:

Yay 1000th post

The steps, deflectors, and other add ons I just find to look tacky. Along with most headache racks, roll bars and full brush guards. I'm trying to find a bull bar of sorts for my truck right now.

If you guys have an F250, you're going to be 8 lug without a doubt. I'm really tempted to run some adapters and 19.5 inch wheels so I can run commercial semi tires

a lot of that stuff is de rigueur up here. especially for those of us who need an assist getting into the likes of a stock super dute (we have a 96 super XL i have to stretch to get into). i swear everything is built for basketball players over here....

i will say "don't" on the old school bug shield. those things were already retro in the early 90's (most people had swapped to the contoured fold-over ones by then, anyway)

Yupp. Checked, 8 lug. Forgot =P

My truck isn't high enough to worry about not being able to get into. I'm 5'7" and the floorboards when I stand next to it is just above the fold in the back of my knee.

If I go for a 2.5 or 4 inch lift, I'll run some step bars or something, too much wear on the seat otherwise

I'm almost contemplating an 8 lug swap so I can put on the newer super duty rims. Think it'd look pretty sweet

ah, that explains a lot. the one we have must have been owned by a 6 footer, cause there are no steps, or even assist handles. but, then again, i seem to have rather short legs (30 inch inseam) at the same height.

I have a 31 inch inseam too. I don't seem to have the problems getting into trucks... Guess I'm just used to it

Whatever you do, don't go a 4 inch lift. 3 MAX. 4 and you'll have even more steering issues.

I don't have any steering issues to start with and already have 2.5 in the front. If I put a 4 inch on there I'll have dual steering stabilizers for sure. And F250s ride higher than 150s, by about 3 inches from what I've seen. 4 inches for me is only 1 higher than a stock 250 4x4

Ah I completely forgot about that. So you should be safe to about 6 inches. Anything bigger would be where you have issues. Was your rear higher than your front when you bought it?

6 inches and I'm fine, 8 inches and the TTB has issues. I might have it easier being that I'm 2wd but it's whatever because this truck wont ever be that high.

Yes, the front end of this truck was 3 inches lower than the back. I added a 2.5 inch leveling kit and now am about 1/8" off level

Looks better with that 2.5 on the front.

I agree. Eventually I'll have a full blown 4 inch lift though. But that's upon resto

I would only add a 4 inch if you have the bigger wheels and tires beforehand. Driving around with a jacked up truck and tiny wheels would look bad lol.

BTW, here is some inspiration (This is not ours).

Notice the lights in the bed and stuff don't take up bed room. That would look beast on your truck. The visor over the windshield would look nice as well. Mud flaps too =P It will give you a more badass look lol

LOL slash, that's so RETRO nowadays, it's probably why I like the look (i AM retro :P)

IDK I dig the look of that truck. Any truck tricked out I think is awesome. Rolling up to school that people are like woah that's awesome. Or they insult it and then when I spin 4 tires pulling out of the parking lot they are like wow.

That's pretty sweet looking. I'm looking for a grille guard currently when mechanical issues stop creeping up, but not the headlight guards, just the middle part. The visor I have always wanted and will buy as soon as I find one! Lights and thing on the bed, not my cup of tea.

I do, however, have the exact same wheel set up and stance as that truck

Got a wheel bearing to replace I think, but I also just came into 70 bucks, and am getting a nice brush guard.

This is the guys truck with the guard I'm buying it off of. He's actually the same guy I sold my side steps to

That's a nice guard, I'd get it. We have the same one just chrome and different lights. Also it doesn't extend to the lights.

Smoked my headlights, love the look! Gonna have to go a little lighter though, hey cut a bit much out of my HIDs for my liking. But they're still more than adequate and the look is wayyyyy improved

Continues to look good 👍! Did you use Nightshade or film?

Thanks man 👍

I'll let you in on a little secret......It's actually panty hose

I wanted to test the waters, but on the cheap and easily removable. Very easy to do and after 120 miles of highway driving they're still looking brand new. I'll think about niteshades when the panty hose dies.

pantyhose? now that's what I call a Redneck solution...and it worked *fistbump*

*fistbump*

But I returned the headlights to stock last night, the light output went to **** with the darkest part of 'em on the headlights. Left the corners smoked

That would look sweet on your truck. When are you getting that push bar with the brush guards off that truck?

I wonder if Flowmaster 40's will fit on this truck. Or any Flowmaster pipes. You really gotta build that motor, it would be awesome seeing a built 6. Oh and because it's a model before 1996, you don't have to have the emmissions systems working or even installed. You can run that thing straight piped all day and it would never be illegal. It would probably loud as hell but really awesome. I know a 351W straight piped can make my house vibrate so it probably won't be too loud since it's a 6.

I believe F-150's are half ton trucks whereas the F-250 are 3/4. You could probably get a ton out of that old suspension and a few extra leave springs will get you probably a ton and a half for hauling. I know stock F-250 suspension like ours has had a ton and a half before so I'd imagine a few extra leaf springs in yours would up your weight limit.

Another thing that yould look cool is (even though it may be fake) is a hood scoop as seen here in the first image, the truck is all black. I know your not into the older styled trucks but a hood scoop like that would look pretty damn awesome on yours. (btw I REALLY WANT THIS ONE):

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/860142-show-me-your-lifted-80-86s.html

You should consider painting those mirros black too to match the rest of the truck. How is the chrome on it?
