S2K, 50k miles+, 2002MY.. and 6k USD.

2002 HONDA S2000 , Has a clean title and it's a California car. All black with black powder-coated wheels, black top, black leather interior, and to finish it off tinted windows. Odometer is 50,411 miles with all service records and paperwork available. Interior is black leather in flawless condition with absolutely no tears, wear or fading. Stereo system is Alpine Mp3/CD player head unit with connection for iPod, can control iPod from head unit. Upgraded Kicker tweeters and speakers powered by a Kicker amp mounted behind the seat. Black powdercoated wheels with special "S" badge center caps to match with "S" badge on trunk and hood. Has medium grade windows tinted all around, expensive Factory Honda keyless entry with alarm, Xenon AP2 headlights, aluminum shift knob, aluminum race inspired pedals and foot rest. Both front and rear tires are in good condition with free lifetime repair/balance/warranty on the tires from Discount tires, rears have almost 90% tread and front has about 50%. Brakes are great, this car can stop on a dime. Being that this is a 2002 model year, there are obviously some rock chips in the front and a door ding or two as would all cars of this age on the road today. There is also a minor chip in the paint right next to the radio antannea that has been touched up (with black Honda touch up paint), never had a problem with it and it never bothered me. I will include a very nice car cover as i will have no use for it. The car runs excellent, and needs nothing at all except an oil change in approximately 2K miles. Blue roadsters. Faster than red ones. Not stuck up like black ones. Doesn't scream 'attention whore' like yellow ones. Not boring like white or silver ones.

Obviously, green ones are for the tree-hugging hippies who must be deeply self-conflicted for buying an evil, environment destroying, carbon-emitting holocaust machine such as a sports car.

They must have stumbled into the showroom by mistake in a haze of bong-smoke and LSD flashbacks. Who knows what kind of deviant freak-show acts they must have performed to be able to get one, because God knows they don't have any money.

So we don't talk about the green ones ;)

I'll be sure to not tell our community organizer that you think he's a tree-hugging-hippie because of his custom green painted S2000. Though ... he is of post-hippie-age and lives in Portland, Oregon ...

Incidentally, we have no red S2000s in our group. Two dark blue (like mine), two light blue, about eleventy-billion silvers, and nearly as many grays, a handful of black, and three or four yellow.

Do you associate with a local Z4 group? Do group Z4 drives, etc? I find our S2000 happenings intriguing. It's nice to meet people with similar car interest, but in many cases that's about as far as it goes. It's definitely cool to see a hoard of the same model car cruising through the beautiful countryside, though. And it's a great way to enjoy our vehicle.
 
Interesting on the black one. I sent the owner an e-mail, but the website said that his adress is invalid. This car with that low of miles should'nt have a clean title. I dont trust it. :scared:

Sadly, no. I barely have the time to autocross and have only gotten 'Slow-n-Ugly' out to two of them. Between work, two young children and my chee-chee socialite wife, I just don't have the time anymore.

Maybe he only drove it when he felt like it/weather permitted? It is a high-strung 2 seat roadster. Not exactly "practical".
 
Negative. It's a scam or a typo. The price is missing a "1" at the beginning of it.

If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is.

Hey guys, as you have probably read in the thread title, I just sold my Camaro for $2800. Its a $200 loss on what I paid for it and I also lost 1k from the upgades, but now this means that I am one step closer to buying a new car!:)
 
so, your total budget is now ~17800?
 
Well, I have $6000 cash, but to keep monthly payments down I would like to keep it at 15k.
 
Don't forget about sales tax. Oh, and the DMV fees too. You may want to save up a bit more...
 
Too much time, money, these people have. Its as simple as that these days. I'd take the reliability of a pre-2003 VW Jetta over that...

I would too.

Generally, you would want to avoid sporty engines and things. The don't tend to be very reliable. And considering that with a Supra engine, you can quadruple the boost with just a screwdriver, plus that this engine has been transplanted, you'll be seeing big problems probably pretty quick.
 
I'm not stating that I wanted that, I was just browsing and found it. I thought that it was good for a laugh here.:lol:
 
Maybe you should just get an economy car haha! I'm 17 as well and I drive a 2000 Dodge Neon and it's all I really need although it's not exactly what I'd want. Oddly enough though my neon only gets about 21.5 mpg on average, granted it's pretty much strictly city driving. Just don't get why you need a performance car for school. Since most performance cars I would think take premium fuel and at the prices of gas that would burn a hole in your wallet unless you're not paying for gas. Insurance like everyone has mentioned on performance cars aren't cheap. I obviously don't know your financial boundaries or your parents but it just seems odd wanting a performance car for school.

Everyone does. I know I do. Heck I was close recently to buying an '03 SRT4 but the only problem is I don't have a job currently but I plan on it this school year but my parents are paying for a wedding so there's no extra money. But technically I could afford the car minus the gas and insurance. Also, coincidentally the SRT4 gets better gas mileage then my neon if driven correctly. (yeah right)

But the point i'm making, Philly, is does he need a performance car for school? Like an S2000 or Z3... those kinds. But something like a GTi would be cool. I'll toot my own horn and say i'd take the LS. :D
 
Technically, nobody needs a performance car. But people buy them anyway. It also has to do with how competitive you are, how much a part of your life cars are and how much you have to make up for by having a fancy car.

Would you be happy with a regular econobox? Yes, but you would be happier with a sports car.

I'm not really one to talk, but speaking from personal experience, if you're paying to go to school, you really should hold off on a sports car. The 2 combined can eat a lot of money away pretty fast.

You'd be wrong in saying i'd be happy with an economy car. Thankful? Yes. Happy? No. I'm a car nut I love cars and engines. I went to an NHRA event yesterday for my first time at Infineon and that was one time that I could really say I couldn't take the grin off my face. But yeah I can see why he wants one but he seems to be having a hard time settling on one. ;)

Yes but remember one is an investment.

It's all a matter of priorities... we aren't financial planners here, and when threads of this nature come up we should just stick to choosing cars and let OPs choose their own destinies... most of them don't end up paying what they claimed they had available originally anyway

An investment at 17? No offense to Helden, but what sports car could you possibly afford at 17 that could be an investment? Unless you plan on keeping the car for years down the road, I can't see a 17 year old buying a sports car just because it could be an investment.

Cars being bought as investments as far as I know, are not going to be driven as daily drivers, simply because miles bring down value.

So, in honesty, we must have gotten on another topic, or I'm reading this Page wrong. A 17 year old buying a sports car just because he thinks its an investment (when it will be driven daily which is a no-no for that type of purchase) can not be a wise choice, & I don't think Helden is the type of person to do such a thing.
 
I think school would be the investment part. ;)

you said you wanted low payments..."low" doesnt mean the same amount to everyone. what does it mean to you? is it under 300 dollars? under 200 dollars?
