My GT4 impression

I started the GT4 F1 championship with a 904 ps F1 car and won the championship with the car being listed at 904 ps. Considering that each of the fifteen races is an endurance in its own right, I think it's safe to say that you don't need to change the oil in the F1 car.

15 races with races like 60 laps at tokyo, 25 at nurburgring, 170 (I think that's it) on the high speed ring, I think constitute real endurance level races. I raced 12 of them before I had enough points to just blow the rest off. 30 million in prize money and a black F1 race car seems kinda meagre compensation considering the amount of racing involved.

Can you save your game in championship races like you could do it in GT3?

Yes you can save mid championship like in GT3, as for the oil theres a bug in the Asian GT4 where in championship races your odometer doesn't go up and as a result your oil doesn't go dirt since the two are linked. Yes you do have to change the oil in an F1 car, just not when it's in a championship race due to this bug.

Thats what I meant bout the mileagecounter. I think its ashame.

PS. One very cool thing is that the "Synthesizer races from GT2" are back!
So now you can generate your own races, on every track you want, you pick the difficulty (from -10 to 10) which gives you more Aspec points too! And if you use the most realistic slippery tires there (N1) the CPUs use it too!!!
I'm having more fun with these races on the Nur and Le Mans (LONG!) than with any other race in the game!
This is so much fun! If you put it on"+5 with N1 tires, the CPUs are very hard to get and on the straight they're also as quick as you are (NSX vs NSX or Skyline or Supra or DB9 vs DB9 but if you choose +6 you get DB9 vs Vanquish) SOOOO COOL! Its really racing! I'm back to my PSTwo again!

Dunno, It's not a english option, its in Japanese so I just tried to find out what it was, and I was just freekin out. Just did 2 races with an old Skyline (1983) and I was racing against different european cars like the Elise and even a Toyota Tacoma, I became 3rd (+5 rating) but was like 0,1sec behind the Golf 5 GTI who was 2nd, I dont care I was 3rd, I had soooo much fun!!!

This is the power of GT4.

What do you mean? You select a track (you already have selected a car in your garage) and choose family cup (unlocked when you've finished the professional cup) and choose the difficulty thats all. If your car is customized, you'll get stronger opponents with better cars or also customized cars.
At the end of the race (if you win) you'll get the Aspec points you deserve, and 50000 yen.

Ok so maybe the F1 cars was a bad example. But I do think PD need to do alot more work on the AI. I'm fed up of cars driving into the back on me, just because I've out braked them into a corner. Admitily, I've not played GT4, but all the videos I've seen have shown AI cars hitting into each other. Sure it happens in racing, but in the GT cars, it always seems to happen at corners.

The video's i have seen show good AI, i haven't seen an car hitting another except from the players side(the player hitting walls and such)

Just went to reseve my GT4 copy and the store owner had GT4 Japanese running on a HDTV. Since I know him good, I was able to play GT4 Japanese for a good 15 minutes. I bet I can abuse my friendship and play for a few hours...

hmmm, if only the AI responded to tire choice, racing on N2 tyre's made it a 100 point race on level 5, and put you against AI opponent's running sports tyres. It's a shame that you have to handicap yourself in this game to get a challenge because of the stupidity of the AI, and the fact that they don't race on N type tyres means some races are unwinable because of their advantage.

WHY couldn't they have fixed the AI....

No I lose on level 5 racing with N2 tyres, since the AI drive on sports tyres they have WAY more grip (BTW I'm doing this with a S60 on Grand Valley). When I switch to sports tyres, same race, same opponent's, I'm 8 seconds up on them after 1 lap, which means they don't switch tactics or tyres.

But you CAN'T win on some races on level 5 with N2 tyres on, since the AI use sports tyres. Although they're stupid and insanely slow with them, they still have FAR more grip than you if you use N2 and you just can't win in these races.
