Evening all.
My tale of woe is that I pre-ordered CE edition through Amazon on the 6th August and paid for expedited delivery, in order to receive it on the 24th (no later). At present my order is "not yet dispatched" and I enquired whether they have stock to fulfill my order and got back:
"We do expect to receive the stock of this item in advance in our inventory and we will dispatch this item as soon we receive inventory to ensure that you receive the order on the release date. On the date of dispatch, we will send you an e-mail message confirming the date, contents and method of delivery.
If you have not received this dispatch e-mail by November 23, 2010, please use the following link to inform us and we will investigate this situation further....."
So to conclude, no we don't have it in stock...
Sigh, oh well I tried and will keep my chin up until the point at which it clearly isn't arriving on Wednesday. I am supposed to be going out for dinner now anyway, so maybe it is life's way of pointing me in a better direction!
The only thing that irks me is that others have received their copy before even the release date, which clearly has no relevance on whether you pre-ordered or how you request delivery. I am green with envy!

I've had a CE edition on order form Amazon.co.uk for the last 6 months and it's not been dispatched yet. I wonder if there's been a shortage in CE stock? Either way if it's not dispatched tomorrow the order will be canceled and I'll drive into Stockport and pick a copy up after work on Wednesday. That said I won't get much time with it on Weds, I'll be watching the football but it'd be nice to get some time with it. no big deal either way for me though, I'll get the game when I get it and I'll survive in between.

I think that is part of the problem, i also ordered from amazon UK on the 6th of august and order has not been dispatched, amazon keep saying they havent even received the game yet from the suppliers. They are on a real low for customer service. they have (perhaps accidentally) processed the orders for GT5 most recent first rather than first come first serve.
All that they say through email and on the phone just makes it worse. The situation is very bad.
I went out and discovered at least that i should be able to get GT5 from my local ASDA at midnight tomorrow.

Good old play i still think there great just not for pre-orders. Its always 50/50 with them weather you get it on the day or not.
Seems completely random for everyone. I preordered the special edition on Amazon UK and, well... I've been playing it for the last 4 hours!
I received my dispatch e-mail on Friday evening and the game turned up at 5 this afternoon
[edit] Collectors edition even. The one that just comes with Apex, postcards and the download codes.

I placed my order on Sunday from Amazon and selected the quickest delivery. Decided to cancel and save myself some money by ordering from Tesco Direct with delivery to store (I was ordering some other items so worked out cheaper). I can collect after 4pm on Wednesday which is no problem as I don't finish work till 6pm anyway.
How so? Signature edition is £130, same as everywhere else. How are gameplay? I have CE waiting to be dispatched from Amazon UK, a signature edition reserved at game instore if worst comes to worst. Just wondering if it's worth ordering the SE from gameplay if they are guaranteeing release day delivery.

I have sent my final letter of complaint to Amazon, will see what happens from now. The incompetence shown so far has made me nervous that they wont send the stealth car codes by email as they are meant to. I bet they say my order never showed it as having the offer. Will find out on Wednesday.
Just got to say that Amazon have been my favourite online shop for quite a few years, until NOW. It all depends now whether my loyalty will be kept by them by performing extraordinarily good customer service, they are not doing well enough so far.

Gamestop just changed my CE Pre-order to backordered and then locked the cancel order button. I pre-ordered on 8/22. What's up with that?

Same here... I have to head up North to Angola, IN to see family so I won't get to play the game until.... Friday which is no big deal but that will be after work.

The source of unhappiness in a human is measured by the contrast in situation of the individual compared to his or her close community members. In this case other GT5 customers, if a trend is established that some are getting higher quality of playing (getting the game!) then this is legitimate sadness on a human level for those who have not received the game.
As for your situation you were already in a state decided by your family circumstance and this more newer possible negative effect ( game lateness) doesn't really contrast against your current status of already disheartened. But you have recovered which makes you think your not too bothered, but your just resigned to it now.

I did hope to see it "in processing" by this past Sunday thinking maybe they'd ship it 3 day shipping to save themselves cost for release day orders but I guess they are planning on overnight shipping.

I am still waiting for my CE to change its status at Amazon US.
But I saw it in my local shops and could not stop my wallet from opening I am playing it now and I can really say this exceeds my expectation.
The sounds are great and the physics are amazing and it works with the G27 amazingly.
When I get my CE copy i will give this one to one of my friends.

I called gamestops 800# and asked to check the status of my order. I told them that my debit card had been charged, but my order says backordered and I placed it on June 17th. I gave him the order # and he said thats incorrect, its actually waiting on a pallet to ship out tomorrow, you have guaranteed release date delivery for the 24th. Might give them a ring to verify as well. Should receive a tracking # tomorrow.

Despite online tracking showing "backorder" Gamestop will still ship on the 24th from Louisville KY. All New Gamestop games ship from this location.
I screwed up and chose ground shipping because I thought they would ship from their distribution center in Grapevine TX which would be a 1 day transit time. Wrong. 
Only Used games come Grapevine. Basically I'll get my CE on Monday 
Looks like this Turkey day is going to be spent with my woman and family afterall
