I tried 3 stores today and nearly got lucky.

Asda, flat out denied they had it in stock

Sainsbury's - Same

Blockbuster - He checks if its in stock, Said yes, goes to scan it... Then the till warns him to wait until the 24th.

I was ridiculously close, I even hinted at bribing him... :(

This is exactly what I should have done instead of pre-ordering (and paying in full) from GameStop. I would much rather have it at midnight than at 10AM. And then there's the 40 minute install. Oh glory, I wish I could just get this game early.

As im off work on the 24th i figured id just go the store and get a copy seeing as the post dont deliver until after 3pm. I will most likely be awake around 5am because the wife goes to work, so i can pretty much go the store at anytime rather than have to wait for mr postie. :)

That is unless some pre orders get shipped early..........then id be bummed. Id be happy for you guys, but id be :crazy:

Damn it I have to pick up my Sig edition from the store, I preordred it from there. First time I preorder a game...what are the chances of the store giving it to me early?

I don't think it comes from a local store. It must come a central distribution Hub somewhere

Ok that was the email. Now I know from experience that you dont have to have the tracking number when you ring Parcel Farce, you can give them the delivery name and address and they can find it(If they say you cant, kick off and ask to speak to a manager).

I'll ring them tomorrow and see what they know.

Is GT5 being delivered by Royal Mail or Parcel Force. I don't like Parcel Force since they delivered my MW2 to Perthshire, Scotland.
They weren't even apologetic it was sort of:
Employee: This item has been delivered to Perthshire
Me: Yer what? :odd:
E: (raising voice) I told you it was dellivered to Perthshire
M: So you delivered my game, clearly marked LONDON to Scotland and you are the one raising their voice?

I hung up after. Had more luck with Royal Mail as they'd delivered everything to me a day early :)

Im just wondering but don't retailers such as Shop to process orders by when they were pre-ordered. So maybe those who pre-ordered before the release date was announced may even have their copies posted tomorrow because they were first in the queue.

Wishful thinking I know. Chances of getting any sleep on Monday night is 0%. I feel like a child on xmas eve!

With ShopTo you can initiate the process order yourself by selecting "Pay now".

Not sure. The only way I can find out is by ringing both of them. I'm getting the SE and its quite large. Most of the large parcels delivered recently to me were by PF.

@TopGearFan08. Im 99.9% certain ASDA will. They're on a big push with games at the moment. They have with the last 2 COD games and GTAIV. They also usually do a decent price on release day(around £35) before bumping it back up to over £40.

Asda in the UK are also doing stupidly good Part-ex deals at the moment.

Not all stores do it, but its well worth seeing what you will get for any old 'tat' you may have. I ended up paying -3p for my copy of Black Ops, they even gave me a fiver for a copy of Race Pro on the 360 and most places sell it for that much used.

Ok, Asda sounds a good back up for 12pm Tuesday.

Tomorrow I'm going to try a few independent retailers, and some of the chains that don't specialize in games. Where the staff may be less knowledgeable about release date protocol.

It's getting to me that so many copies have been leaked and I cant get hold of it ^^.
 
the place i ordered it (coolshop.dk) prolly aint shipping till tuesday.. and that means i "should get it" on wednesday.. but i prolly get it the 25th. thats my luck.

hopefully they ship it on monday... crossing fingers. still no mails yet. :< not even an order confirmation (but i can see the status on the login page)
 
Most of the people that hopped on to GTP the last 4 yrs don't really have a clue who and how much respect and decency Amar is and deserves...

In my opinion, i only read his because i know i won't get that many spoilers, he's an honest good journalist, doesn't push anything and digs really deep to be innovative, honest about new stuff and put that in realistic words for us, to understand it as a GT fan... Those people understand him... But all the rest of you... Nada, nothing... Just kill his thread so you can make one... omg i hope i'll return here when i get it, i hope we "oldies" all return...

You new guys don't have a clue in what for real old community you are...
It's not about who's got the first copy and blablabla... that's not the point of this forum... It's not about how much you need to answer...

Grow up, and then come back here please, grow some mind...
 
Wtf? where just exited ( well i am anyway ), about one of the best ever games coming out. This thread is about the pre-orders for it, and were just showing some exitment. dont read if you dont want to talk about it.

where does respect for Amar come into it?? I have plenty of respect...
 
Yep Speed i think you pasted that in the wrong window or something Amar is doing an awesome job but this is about various different retailers and when they are despatching the game

Btw if anyone was wondering about swapping to hmv at the last min im not sure thats a good idea. I ordered a another copy of the game from there and now the status is "Item pre-ordered - not yet issued by supplier" - makes it sound like they sold out?:nervous:

Play.com have dispatched mine, I had the e-mail just a few minutes ago. It may come by Monday if the postman can get to me from Jersey, but to be honest I'm expecting release day delivery, I will be at work so I'm not in any hurry.
 
I can confirm it too ,just received the email from Play.com.
Only thing is.. I life in Holland so I think it will take a day longer to get here :(
