And actually Geico is legalized extortion. When I had my P71 Crown Vic they wanted $120 per month liability when my current insurance company (Unitrin) quoted me $42 per month. And progressive is great for people who've already had them for 5+ years. I guarantee if I asked my local agent for a quote fo rthe '07 GT500 I doubt it'd be more than $275 per month.

I highly doubt it'll be more uncommon than a Lamborghini in the US in a couple years. I, personally, think the car is a disgrace to the Shelby name due to the fact that it can't really beat 400Hp Corvettes on circuits, weighs more than the original GT500, and is a failure next to the Z06, and Viper.

I have nothing against people wanting this car for the name, but let's be real, this car is only worth the name alone. I'd rather buy a Saleen or Roush, or hell, an old school SVT Cobra R.


Now, due that even though the video proof was shown, I was going to say, instead of putting a picture on the window with your name on it, do this instead next time guys. Of course, write your name on the paper, but stab it over the shifter. It ensures access to the car and the fact that you can "do" something to the car without someone worrying.

What threw me off was the "X-Plan". I don't believe the Shelby is available through the X-Plan, but the additional explanation makes sense. I can see the dealer getting around the system like that. Congrats on a one bad ass Mustang. 👍

yeah umm see when i was mechanic we had lots of cars goin through the 'garage' which i could have easily taken pics of and found paperwork in the glovebox for...someties we even got to drive the cars home for the weekend including wrx + evo + skylines

And theres part of the reason I don't let my car go to some 'garage', I would be quite unhappy when I check my odo with some abnormal clock up of km's.

Thanks Viper, I am planning to get more pictures and I'm going to upload some video of the car starting up and idling. I didn't want to rev it because I had a friend taping it behind the car and would not be good to go and rev it and throwing toxic fumes into the camera and into the person's throat.

So, you pay less than $100/month to insure a horsepower-oozing, high-performance, relatively expensive car? I don't think so. It costs twice that to insure my car, which is far less likely to get a 22 year-old in trouble. Either you have very crappy insurance, or you pulled that number out of magic-land.

The styling is one of many things that people like about the car. The noise to me the the number one reason. Just like the '03-'04 Cobras (uses the same Eaton supercharger too actually) that supercharger noise is just mindbowingly awsome.

I have no problems with people who prefer the Saleen or Roush, infact I prefer the Roush if I was going to autocross or race around a circuit with it. The Saleen just looks good to me, I would still prefer the Shelby otherwise.

But come on, it is NOT a disgrace to the Shelby name. So some stupid Corvette beats it (keep in mind that it is the same MSRP and lighter), or that a Viper and ZO6 beat it (miles more expensive and much higher insurance), or that it is as uncommon as a Lamborghini (its still a bloody Lamborghini). Get real, its a sweet car, its a fast car, and most importantly it is a Shelby Mustang GT500 AMERICAN MUSCLE CAR. Back in the old muscle car era you had plenty of cheaper cars out powering the "heavy hitters". But the point remains, the whole thing about a muscle car is how it makes you feel red light to red light. THAT is the real point of a muscle car, not track times, not lateral G's, not price, no even looks--just pure brute power and how that power makes you feel.

And if the GT500 makes you feel half as good as the '03-'04 Cobras I'd sell my soul to get one.

It could of been painted, so its no big deal if it wasn't real. I did examine it quite extensively while it was parked, it was a very convincing replica if it wasn't real. Or it was a Cobra that was made-up to LOOK like a Cobra R. Either way, it was beautiful. Even if that wasn't a real Cobra R the red one I saw in Lewisville was.

Edit, I apologize that I didn't correct this. I looked back at my insurance price and its $578.51 (exact) for 3 months and not the forementioned 6. Guess I'm not getting as good of a deal as I thought

I'll take 4.10s, slicks, a reprogram, and a smaller upper blower pulley. 600hp or so, hook, and cheap as stink to do. (It IS an 8.8", a chip's not bad, and I truly don't see why you haven't swapped pulleys!)

I made a new deal with the bank I took the loan with and its around $300 a month now. About $50 less a month now than it was.

If I was going to make it a strictly track car I would drap 4.10s in there but the 8.8 inch rear end is a pain. Took me three days to finish it all working on it 6 hours a day. They should have put a 9 inch rear end then I could have swapped it easily. The pulled is molded into one so its not that easy to do but I'm looking at it something like that. Ford Racing has come out with some new packages. I run slicks when I take her to the strip some times. I could easily get out over 750 with those upgrades you mentioned though.

edit: Was going to stay that with 4.10s on the street I could about not use the clutch to get going. It basically rolls without the clutch with the 3.73s as is.
