Thanks for making the effort to do this. I'm not sure why you consider it arrogant for someone to ask proof of your claim, but I'm glad you backed up your statement.

I didn't say asking for proof was arrogant, the way he asked me to is what I felt was arrogant.

and you're welcome

I disagree, but I see the difference and your point.
👍

Looks like apologies are owed.

Nope. The fact that he's posted suspected and things have been disproven before doesn't negate the fact that we had a legitimate point to question its authenticity.

"thats my son, always peeing on everyone" perhaps a video is the best way going about this R8, if it does prove that its your car I'm sure that everyone here will look like an ass and we will all owe you an apology.
EDIT: just saw the video and it at least proves that someone owns a GT500, unfortunately my uncle would not hesitate to give me the keys to his c5 to go out and start it up.

I have a former co-worker with a Carrera S I could drive over to real quick and do the same thing with. Why couldn't he do this video or take pics right after he posted last night? Since it was in a garage he wouldn't have to worry about the light? Specialized did more than enough in like no time flat, so I don't want to hear any excuses.

An apology? Don't make me laugh. I put as much price on their moral fibre as I put on lint.

If that is more sarcasm great. If not, whatever.

r8man if you do really own this car (and the 4 others apparently?) then my mistake--and have fun with it. But if you are still lying and this really isn't your car and you are still being dishonest about it then that's bad form.

*edit*
Hey Spec, nice car.

Eh, proof enough for me.

So where did that recipe thread in the rumbler go? You think someone might have something good for say... crow?

good enough for me too, sorry i doubted you R8, if you don't own the car and you say you do then you know what kind of person you really are and in the long run thats probably all that really matters.

r8man,

Congratulations, both on the car, and providing the video.

All too often on the internet, you find people making boastful claims. 700 hp daily driver supras and so on. See ing a young guy like yourself, it gave all the clear signs of internet boasting.

I apologize for sounding like I was arrogant. It was not my intention to appear that way. I've just seen too many people make thse type posts, and seeing them get disproven.

You've made good in my book. Well done young man, well done.

I understand your point about the frauds on the internet and I am glad that you believe me now:)

so, how many people did you have to off to be able to afford one of those

(and by "off" I mean kill, a-la hitman)

I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you too...so how badly do you want to know ;)

*cough* I've got your moral fibre right here. Note that three of these come from staff members.

[edit] Make that FOUR staff members, and counting.

so whats the first upgrade for the car then R8?

Sadly, I really don't know what I want to do first...it all depends on how much money I have left in my loan and room in the car payments I have to spare.

r8man, +rep to you for also being a good sport. You could have (rightfully) acted like a jerk when proving ownership, but chose to be cool about it.

So once again... like I said on page 1.

Totally. Sweet. 👍 Enjoy it!

One of my favourite proofs ever.

Now. What have you done with my kestrel, you bastard?

Hand over the keys to the McLaren or you'll never hear from it again:trouble:

r8man

Thanks for that 👍 , good stuff and a nice car (not my particular cup of tea - but very nice all the same).

Yeah, but the way it was done in some cases was unecessarily rude.

Nice job...but I want some more action in the video before I really believe you. You know, a little redlining, couple burnouts, and at least a few donuts? Otherwise I don't believe you at all. ;) :p

Nah, I want to see all of that, then see you get arrested, all on video and only when we see the video, ticket and a signed statement and photo from the cop will I believe you.

:)

OK maybe not

LOL I told you the other night that the car isn't going to see the road when its salted! :scared:

Arrested with the ticket and everything on tape? Phesh, no problem:sly:

Well looks like one more person with a bad attitude was shown the door...
back on topic i reckon. So what sort of payments are you making on that thing?

Congrats man BTW how old are you, you don't look that old and if thats the case the insurance must be insane. I'm kinda a ford guy my self in fact my dad owned a performance shop where all that they did was mustangs, but he had to close down. So anyway LOVE THE CAR    *lucky bastard*

About 500 a month for 72 months.

I'm 22 but insurance isn't that bad. Only about $575 for 6 months...so if you do insurance cost/hp ratio thats only $1.15 per HP ;)

What's the symbol rating of the car? Unless you are still on your parent's insurance (and even then it wouldn't be that low) there is absolutely ZERO WAY you have less than $100 per month for full coverage on a car that is most likely with a symbol rating of over 22 and that is a super performance Mustang AND is over $40,0000 USD. A few more questions please.

  1. So, what was the X-plan cost of the car?
  2. How much did you put down?
  3. So, what was the total amount financed?
  4. What is your APR?
  5. Who is your insurance company?
  6. How many points on your license in the last 5 years?
  7. Is your credit rating over 720?

This is what an insurance company says about someone with a clean driving record, my age (27), and average credit (675-720). And considering this is just a "soft" quote it could actually be higher after one provides the VIN number and more specifics. I could believe the monthly payments assuming several factors such as the questions I asked, but the insurance number you posted is not realistic. And for grins I put my former roomate and his age + driving record and the amount was $471.86 per month and he is your age with good credit and a clean driving record.

*edit*
Oh and before you claim you have the "minimum" that's the minimum requirement if the car is paid for, and in Texas that's liability only.

the X-Plan cost that the dealer told me was $40,600. They said they would not honor a x-plan unless i agreed to pay 2% over what it should be because Ford won't reimburst them that 2% that Ford usually would on a car. That price does not include tax and title which was paid out of my pocket at pickup.

I put down $8,000

total amount financed was $32,600 at 6.125%

I use AIG, and under the program I am at they allow it to not be shown as a brand new 2007 Shelby but a 1967 clone thus saving me from emissions and saving me money. I believe this plan is availble in Chicagoland, NYC, and LA only. Not sure there but I will check.

And I have NEVER had any points on my license and I'm proud of that.

And since I've always been on time and paid the full amount on everything I've used credit for (mortgage, credit cards, other car payments) I have a credit rating of (I don't feel comfortable giving out the acutal amount) over 735 but below 800.

I hope that answers all your questions:)

Edit, I apologize that I didn't correct this. I looked back at my insurance price and its $578.51 (exact) for 3 months and not the forementioned 6. Guess I'm not getting as good of a deal as I thought :(

Yes it does, thank you. Although I'm curious on why AIG would allow the 2007 GT500 registered as a 1967 when it clearly isn't--and for that matter I'd imagine a 1967 Shelby to be MORE insurance lol. So be glad that you aren't getting raped for insurance--because as you can see by that quote even someone over 25 with a average credit rating and a clean driving record still gets raped for full coverage. Or maybe insurance in TX is real high? *McLaren* might help me out here as he's had expensive cars and lives a stone's throw away from me.

I figured you had a Tier I credit rating and I also figured the monthly payments to be accurate...but the insurance just threw me off. You have to admit, the fact that its classified as a 1967 is a bit odd? No matter, drive safely.

LOL yes I found it odd also but as long as its legal I don't care what its insured at. I got a quote a while back from Geico and one from Progressive and I don't feel that their quotes are as good as they claim them to be.
Edit: Now that I think of it, even my State Farm quote was better than both Geico and Progressive.

And actually Geico is legalized extortion. When I had my P71 Crown Vic they wanted $120 per month liability when my current insurance company (Unitrin) quoted me $42 per month. And progressive is great for people who've already had them for 5+ years. I guarantee if I asked my local agent for a quote fo rthe '07 GT500 I doubt it'd be more than $275 per month.

I've actually heard of that insurance loophole before but i cant remember what sort of car it was being applied to.
