My obsession with the Nordschleife.

I believe I've also developed an obsession with the Nordschleife,
so much so that I visited the track two weeks ago while also catching the
GT Masters race at the same time. It's truly a unique and remarkable place.
I've been to Monza, Imola, Spa & Catalunya and none of those places can measure up to the
Nordschleife.

I wanted to drive the track but there was no way I would take my Hertz car
since they ban you for life if they find out you drove their car on the Nordschleife.
But it wouldn't have mattered anyway since they closed the track many times due to accidents
and I probably wouldn't have had an enjoyable experience due to that.
I rented a Citroen C4 for the trip with only 2,800km on the odometer.

Here's the aftermath of an accident at the Antoniusbuche which caused so much damage
to the track it apparently took three hours to repair it. I was standing on the bridge to get the photo.
The driver was OK.

And I got a nice photo from the Karussell.

When dusk approached I noticed people going out onto the track with
headlamps on so they could sit and draw things on the Nordschleife asphalt in the dark.
I'll always remember that. :lol:

I've clocked over 8000 kilometers on the Nordschleife in GT6. That's from driving on it almost every day since a couple months ago. My favourite cars to drive on it are the Caterham 7 FireBlade and the SVT Cobra Mustang, fully stock on SH tires.

I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to go back.

One thing I will say is that these simulators / games. Do not do the track any justice. Yes they'll teach you how to take the corners. But they will never prepare you for the elevation change and levels of G you feel. When going fast - I also went out in an M3 ring Taxi... Amazing!

A Twingo? How does it feel on the track? Is it the car they make you drive as your first time on the track or can you pick?

Once I get a little bit older, and gather up some cash for the trip, I'd LOVE to go to the 'ring and make a lap around it, it's really my only goal in life at the moment.

RSR will allow you to drive any of their cars on track. You just need to have have the money lol.

I took the Twingo because it was the only right-hand drive car available. I absolutely hate driving left-hand drive cars..... I'm from the UK.

Handling wise it was a great car to drive around the track. The only downside is the lack of power. It really struggled during some of the uphill sections. Overall it was a great experience. I have one more vid to post.
 
Here is my lap times on this track. "ky" means "comfort soft" and "ss" means "sports hard" in my language which are stock tires on this cars when you buy them. All cars are completely stock by the way.

When I play on this track I always take notice my lap times to my phone.
