Yeah, but we all know if he's given a good car, he's nearly unstoppable despite the bad luck.

You can say that about Kenseth, Edwards, Keselowski, Johnson, Hamlin, Harvick, Biffle, both Busch's...

I think if Dale Earnhardt was still around , he would have loved for Juan to be apart of his team (D.E.I) especially with that attitude!

He is part of his team. It is Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, after all.

Can't believe someone hasn't already done this:

Hamlin can dougie!

Umm can someone break down Nascar Driver Generations for me? For example I heard Jimmie Johnson is from the 3rd generation and Dale Sr is from the 2nd? Is that true?

What do you think of this points system

1. 100 points
2. 95
3. 90
4. 85
5. 80
6. 76
7. 72
8. 68
9. 64
10. 60
11. 57
12. 54
13. 51
14. 48
15. 45
16. 42
17. 39
18. 36
19. 33
20. 30
21. 28
22. 26
23. 24
24. 22
25. 20
26. 18
27. 16
28. 14
29. 12
30. 10
31. 9
32. 7
33. 5
34. 3
35. 1

1st through 5th go down 5 points each position

6th through 10th goes down 4 points each position

11th through 20th goes down 3 points each position

20th through 30th goes down 2 points each

Only top 35 receive points

Under my system a driver who finishes higher in the standings is rewarded with a larger percentage of points.

In NASCAR's current 43-1 points system the winner gets 43% more points then last place. In my system the winner gets 100% more points then last place.

In NASCAR's current system the winner gets 25% more points then 10th. In my points system the winner gets 40% more points then 10th.

Staggering the points like this gives drivers more motivation to pick up positions on the track instead of settling for "a good points day". The higher you finish in the standings, the more % of points you get. In the current system every position lost or earned is worth the same % of points. This hurts the racing in my opinion.

Also, by limiting the points to the top 35 this will hopefully stop the start and park guys. If they stop showing up, then NASCAR doesnt have 43 car races. Move on. The points can be eventually expanded to include all 43 cars once these guys get their act together.

idk about JJ, but dale earnhadts father used to run in oldschool nascar tiers with the number 8 car. Which means dale senior is a 2nd gen driver and dale jr is a 3rd gen driver.

There is no generation of drivers like you're thinking of, where "Generation 2" drove in the 70's and 80's. The useage of the word generation here means that someone's parent was also a race car driver.

If my father was a race car driver, and he's the first in our family to do so, he's a "first-generation" racer. If I get in to racing, I become the second-generation of race car driver in my family. If my son gets into racing, he's now the third generation race car driver in our family.
Think of the Petty family:

Lee Petty - 1st generation racer
Richard Petty - 2nd generation racer
Kyle Petty - 3rd generation racer
Adam Petty - 4th generation racer

Does that make sense now?

That point system is no different than the previous point system, just with different numbers. I know it would never happen, but if they want to keep the focus on the top 35, then the top 35 should only get points. The problem with that idea is that no one outside the top 35 who wouldn't run the full race wouldn't even consider showing up to the race.

I hope NASCAR just leaves the points alone for awhile. Tired of a new point system every other year.

I would just like it if NASCAR removed the stupid chase system, so that would encourage drivers to push it hard every race rather than just having to finish good. Not to mention, it would mean that somebody can't come out of nowhere to win the championship, like last year.

Oh so Jeff Gordon would be considered a 1st generation driver. And if Leo Gordon starts racing he will be a 2nd generation driver! thx

EDIT: Fox won't be broadcasting anymore races after Dover.

They had to change it in 2011 because of Johnson's dominance.

Therein lies the problem. While the changes to the points system created a closer, more exciting chase, it basically killed the "regular season".

With each position lost or earned being worth the same % of points, there's no reason for teams or drivers to go after that one more extra position. For example, if a driver is running in 10th place under the current rules, 9th place is only worth 1 more point. But if the points are staggered, and the higher finishing positions earn a higher percentage of points per position, then that driver will try to take 9th place as the higher he finishes in the running order the more and more percentage of points he gets.

Oh c'mon, are we talking about changing the points system AGAIN  Hasn't NASCAR done enough of that anyway, besides, you think anything we say here will matter?

I think removing the chase might change the way the drivers handle racing each week. They won't points race week in and week out because every point lost is a point lost towards a potential championship.

I think Nascar's in a very good place in terms of the points system and the Chase system. We had a very exciting climax last season so as far as I can see, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And now where at the point in the season where driver's virtually locked into the chase begin to "sandbag".

Wow, I've fallen behind on these:

Out of the videos you posted in Post #4678 RACECAR, I dig that Hitman car the most. Never played a Hitman game (was never interested in the series), but the gradient is sweet.
