Massive typo by Speed:

Someone tweet this to them quickly, let them see the fail

The Onion (Todd Bodine) won the truck race, for those who don't already know.

Nationwide going on at Dover right now. It's Joey Lagano leading on Lap 37 or 200.

Only Hendrick has the right to that #24 font and color. *punches hole into wall!*

I smell a lawsuit!

NASCAR owns the numbers and designs of the numbers. The only exceptions to that is the #3 and the #28.

Robert Yates Racing used the number for so long and it's association with Davey Allison. There aren't any officially retired numbers but the 3 and 28 are unofficially retired unless someone were to ask permission from Yates (or Childress with the 3), to use the number, which would be denied outright.

There is only one number retired in NASCAR and it's the #61 for Richie Evans.

As for number fonts, they usually design the numbers based on the Cup version of the number, which is why the 24 in the Nationwide Series and Truck Series both have the 24 in the Impact font that Hendrick uses. IIRC, there's a submission process for number design and smaller teams usually don't deal with that hassle so they take the design that's available to them for that number at the time.

In that case why did Travis Kvapil drive #28 for Yates?

I think it's just the Font style that's retired. For example I think teams are alowed to use a #3 just so long as they don't use the same style font that Childress used for the 3 when dale was around in cup.

And what teams in national NASCAR series' use the #3?

RCR's nationwide and truck teams both run the number three, both with RC's grandsons driving.

Thanks lapped cars. You sure did a good job getting out of the battle for the lead. 👎

Logano probably had him anyway. Logano should be embarrassed, beating the 2nd tier cars and drivers of Nationwide

Mark Martin on pole for Cup race, but I think hes too old to be a factor for long at the physical track

Logano was going to catch Truex by the end of that race, but those two lapped cars not respecting the battle for the race win shortened the catching up by a lot.

Edit: I've noticed that style 3 gets used on many cars throughout the various racing series around the world. Even if it's not the proper slant, it's still out of respect of Earnhardt.

Hate to say this but I'm looking forward to the day he yells at someone who won't take his 🤬 and he finds out what it really means to be tough.
