You cannot pass below the double-yellow line like at Daytona and Talladega. Phoenix has a single yellow line.

You are allowed to cut that apron string, but it's not the best line to take - unless you're trying to avoid 3000 lbs of mayhem heading towards you. Getting down on the apron can upset your car: happens even in GT5 - though in other courses it has.

Cutting the apron causes the car to bottom out massively. If you were to attempt to do that every lap, you would eventually destroy your car

Heating/cooling, definitely a factor today. Unless of course it's a caution every fifteen laps.
