2013 Cup cars can't come fast enough. Maybe they can help fix the problem?

Because bumpers line up so well on the COT the drivers have gotten way too brave. And because the cars overheat so fast theres no point in racing or risking anything for the first 95% of the race.

Yes the restrictor plate racing hasn't been good this year, but even in the past, even in the 90s it had it's share of good and bad races. As I've said before the 2000 Daytona 500 was the worst restrictor plate race ever, Earnhardt's disgust of the race,but the 2000 Winston 500 at Talladega was probably the best.

I think NASCAR is just out of ideas on how to fix it with the current car. Hopefully they can fix the plate racing with next year's cars.

I've always wondered why people care about this stuff, I don't care who my favourite race car driver is married to, how many kids he has, etc. Thats personal, and way to Hollywood as far as I'm concerned. I'd draw the line at who they're dating/married to. Don't get me wrong, that's great, but I just don't get it why they need to announce it to the world.

I agree with you this new form of plate racing is laughable, you're comment was funny btw. lol
 
Alright, Someone want to explain to me why select NASCAR's had the orange numbers/spoilers/front lips/dot on the windshield? I remember there being a specific reason for it... but can't remember what the reason was.

Unless I'm a fool. I'm referring specifically to the Winston 500 race from 2000.
 
Those were the No Bull 5 cars. It was a money thing back when Winston was still the main NASCAR sponsor.
 
The "No Bull 5" cars had the orange details.

The dot on the windshield at the time was the inspection sticker IIRC. Now the sticker is a small rectangle.

Sam Hornish Jr. will be in the 22 this weekend at New Hampshire as the results for Allmendinger's "B" test results will take 5 days from when they take the option to have it tested.

I do not understand NASCAR. Why do they have to be so secretive about when someone fails a drug test?

I'm guessing because the 'A' test may be false and AJ might be completely clean. They won't say anything till they're sure.

This. I think they'd rather not have a situation pop up like the Ryan Braun/MLB scenario that happened late last year/early this year either.

With the way NASCAR reacted to this, I don't think they believe it's true either.
 
What I find baffling is this: how is it fair to the driver or the team for Allmendinger to be suspended effective immediately upon the finalization of results from the "A" test? For instance, in MLB, if you're suspended for an on-field incident, you're allowed to appeal the decision immediately, and you're allowed to play until the results of the appeal come back, at which point you either serve the original suspension if you lose the appeal, or you serve a reduced penalty if you win. This seems more sensible, because the penalty is effectively confirmed as being fair before it is actually served. In Allmendinger's case, the problem seems especially stark: Penske knew of the suspension less than two hours before the race started, so it had to scramble to find a replacement driver on absurdly short notice. Furthermore, because of the waiting time before the results come in, Allmendinger misses two races even if his "B" sample turns out to be clean, which seems ridiculously unfair.
 
You can't put a driver in a 200 mph race car with 42 other drivers on track if he is on drugs. It's a serious safety liability.
 
In this entire situation, Jeremy Mayfield's wife is in a complete uproar that NASCAR didn't announce what caused the positive test. Of course, her and her husband still claim NASCAR conspired against him.... Even after he was found to have meth on his property, and after he was found guilty of the charges.

I'd like to believe that the current Allmendinger situation is a false positive or a complete misunderstanding/miscommunication during the testing process.

That's slightly premature don't you think? They'd look a bit stupid if they sacked him and he turned out to be clean. Not gonna happen.

Even if they didn't have the threat of overheating, there still isn't much point in racing hard for several hours. You can risk it all working your way through half the pack to the front by lap 50 and still be at the back on lap 100. If you want them to race hard for the full race, slash the distance in half.

While some of their fans are open to more road courses, plenty of them still hate them and don't even want the two that they have.

Yes, I keep saying this here and I feel like it must get annoying but it's really so true. Ovals are, for the most part, overly redundant. I know that a lot of people enjoy those, and I enjoy some, but I think it would attract European crowds. Now, maybe that's not what NASCAR wants and I'm sure a lot of fans don't, and that's fine, but I think they need less ovals. Of course, I realize that I am one person and I have my own opinions.
 
As said months ago, it's not the lack of road courses, it's rather the lack of interesting ovals such as The Rock and North Wilkesboro and the inclusion of so many "cookie-cutter" ovals that makes NASCAR boring. I wouldn't mind another road course being added, however.

I say Road America at least is a must.

It's really sad but NASCAR just doesn't interest me anymore. Too many rules in my opinion.
