He only has a 1 point lead... suddenly that 25 point penalty that was taken away would make a difference for Jimmie. Previously in the season it would have made no difference as the driver he was ahead of was more than 25 points behind him.

season points lead will be irrelevant when it the chase starts so it's really not important

To quote the late Benny Parsons

"They really are in the grass!"

Any Ambrose win is a good win

Yeah he's a great guy with a great personality, it's nice seeing him win.

Gotta hate that damn chase reset.

 Cows, why do you hate Caps lock so much? Anyways, I'm with Müle, why isn't it broadcast in Canada? Some Canadians like watching New York.

I wrote in ALL CAPS but it posted in lowercase. :grumpy:

Now I think that the Wild Card situation is really flaring up.

We have 5-6 guys fighting for the second Wild Card spot, some of which need to be consistent, while others are desperate for wins. Since some drivers such as Joey Logano and Marcos Ambrose have slim chances of making the chase, they will be driving as hard as they possibly can.

Expect a lot of action in the next 4 weeks.

EDIT: Haha, the Good Sam Assist of the Day was given to Bobby Labonte for having his car's oil spill all over the track, putting Marcos Ambrose in the position to win.

Jimmie, Brad and Tony each have 3 wins. Jimmie being in the points lead won't change when the chase begins.

yes but jimmie could be in 10th place right now and when the chase starts he would be tied for 1st. points leads and penalties in the regular season are irrelevant to the top guys

Which is why NASCAR needs to eliminate the Chase next year. A driver's performance should be based on how he runs ALL season, not sandbagging around the track for 26 races, only doing enough to get in, then finally showing balls in the final 10. 👎 Anyways, congratulations to Marcos Ambrose for winning in a wild finish! 👍

Liking NASCAR on Facebook keeps ruining the results for me before I get to watch the recording that I set up in the early hours of the morning :grumpy: (I know I should avoid Facebook but... it's Facebook)

Just hide from newsfeed...

Those final laps reminded me a bit of Loudon and IndyCar last year. They should have thrown the caution, even though the last laps were epic. Considering we have questionable debris cautions, to have such a slick track and no caution is confusing.

Really nice battle between the 2 and 9 though.

I was at the track, and I must say, my entire grandstand went crazy! Great finish! In regards to oil on the track, I've personally worked as a flagger, and I if just one of us (Out of 14 stations) can confirm there is oil leaking from a car, we immediately report it. So either every single station was in on it, and stayed quiet (Extremely unlikely and will get you fired in certain instances) or NASCAR ignored them (Also extremely unlikely as they are NASCAR's first line of defense in regards to on track action). And according to NASCAR, no one reported any oil leak that may pose an immediate danger to the field. That's not to say there wasn't oil on track, but what little oil there was, coupled with the fact that the leader's tires were fairly old, and they were going for broke, it's no surprise they were sliding.

Was it Nemechek? And @ ICEYOU, if drivers don;t report anything either, they can;t do much. It made it a good end as well :)

Everybody said that nobody knew there was oil on the track until the cars started hitting it, and by then it was probably too late.

Really unfortunate what happened to Jeff. :(

I bet the 47s will be getting some" thank you" letters from Australia.

Not from me he won't, I wanted Keselowski to win.

Amazing finish though. Definitely some of the best racing, I've ever seen.

To those saying we don't need more road coarses I say: "Really!?!"

THAT finish is why we need MORE.

👍👍

Actually, Brad was 3rd before the 47 leaked oil, so he ended better off in the end. Just saying. :sly:

Good point actually. My apologies to Terry and the #47 team, my "thank you" letter is in the mail. ;)

Oh, and I'm really pleased to see that the #78 scored a top ten finish.

They spent a lot of time off track too, especially in the bus stop chicane. Not the best thing for traction either.

Two weeks in a row. 👍

Just saw the finish, that was fantastic!

 Danica in Nationwide

Nationwide is going up to Montreal next weekend; Cup's going to Michigan next weekend. Anytime I think of NASCAR at Montreal, I think of those rainy weather races in Nationwide.

While Michigan is a great oval, I'd actually want to see Nationwide and Cup race at Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. Hell, let the Trucks go up to Montreal as well. Trucks need some challenge since the Truck drivers going to Nationwide and Cup will have to race road courses anyways. You know, Mosport (or whatever its official name is nowadays) would be a great Canadian road course for NASCAR besides Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve.

The Watkins Glen event was still very good. I saw most of the race.

I'll be in Montreal for Nationwide, I'm going for Grand Am, but Nationwide will be a "bonus".

Would NASCAR fans be okay with an Australian dominating the series, then?

More to the point, would they be okay with a Tasmanian dominating the series?
