Good to know they're getting a good amount of things ready for the next patch. They're fixing the AI difficulty during qualifying, but not during the races? It needs to be increased a bit everywhere...

I was able to get patches and rather large content updates for my copy GT5: Prologue that was an Asian region game.If someone imported the game. Would they be screwed with a patch?
Anyone spending time at Texas, Atlanta, or Kansas? I'm interested in hearing feedback on how those drive as I haven't had a chance to go yet - my youngest brother was on last night so we spent time blowing things up rather than racing.
@ Turbo: Not that I am aware. I'd like to see it as I have no patience for paint scheme design but would want to nab some schemes others are willing to share.
@ Sylph: It makes me glad to hear about tire wear. I've heard some people complain it was lacking. I've raced Atlanta twice in short online events. She's a demanding mistress. Misjudge entry at turns 1 or 3 and pay through 2 and 4 consistently. Get it right and the payoff is massive in terms of momentum. I forgot about my online races there. I haven't tried it in against the AI yet.
Are you having trouble with the AI wrecking in the pits or exiting pit road onto the track before using entry lane to get up to speed? That's another issue I've heard of.
Obviously, I haven't spent enough time to see these things myself. I need some serious time with the game but we're preparing to move to our new house and my gaming time is suffering.
I'm not a setup guy so I'll have to keep it simple until I can get some setups from the gear heads. And, since the game is likely to be patched in the near future, some physics attributes might change (brakes). So, I'm not going to get into depth with setup changes just yet.
But the wheel on this game won't instantly make you faster like GT. I always thought it was cheap how they did that. I use the controller.
No, but it's nice to use it if you have one. Problem is I don't feel "connected" in this game with the wheel. Haven't used the controller yet.
I think they physics are gonna stay the same. They are not broke. In fact the setup and physics they nailed, for a console. A straight up iracing sim on a console probably won't ever happened. At least if Activison is the publisher. Maybe NASCAR is harder then 99% of the members here thought it was. GT5 was a awful physics engine for NASCAR. I'll help you guys out a ton on your setups. This link is beast. You can read it all or down at the bottom is a trouble shooting guide. But there are tons of NASCAR help setup sites..
Oh and this IS a good game. I've raced console NASCAR games since EA 99. Most of the people bashing it probably suck at it. It's not EA09 assists WON'T make you faster and no B.S. down shifting at ovals to make you faster. No guys NASCAR drivers don't shift! To bad for you guys that canceled ur preorder. Don't listen to us cowboys that can't race. .
I get online and stomp everyone. I won Vegas last night by 15 seconds in a 26 lap race...with cautions. on the default setup. Most NASCAR fans don't understand how to take these turns. And since they don't understand how to drive it they can't work a setup either.
NASCAR is so much different then road racing. Take what you know about an apex and put it in slow motion at really high speeds while driving a brick with someone on ur bumper. Slow in fast out isn't always correct in NASCAR. Sometimes one turn is fast in less aggressive out. Sometimes you brake for turn 1 and coast into turn 3. I think the game needed a tutorial. Or a GT style license tests.
Oh and in the NASCAR world its
Over steer = Loose
Under steer = Tight or Pushing
My friends on GT5 thought I didn't know what the heck I was talking about because I used the word loose and tight. But I'm from the oval world.
The graphics in this game look fantastic, and it doesn't take much for it to be better than GT5 for oval racing. However, from what i've heard the physics aren't great and a game centered just around NASCAR would probably leave me bored after a few minutes.
Anyone who has access to iRacing on the pc would have a hard time justifying the purchase of this game.
Its a NASCAR game, what else would you expect? I personally like the physics. No one can real claim if any NASCAR game's physics are good because no one here has driven a NASCAR car before. I'm quite happy about this game. As for Iracing, I have yet to try it and probably never will because I've heard it takes awhile to get to the cars you actually want to drive.
You don't own the content in a console game any more than you own it in iRacing.
