NBA: 2014-2015 Season

Denver's the Mile High City, but my Rockets were playing 7K feet high in Mexico City tonight. And in the end, we won 113-101 over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It is the most points we put up in any game so far this season. I think it was really the second half that helped the Rockets pull away for good. The first half was pretty slow for the Rockets. And really, both teams sort of struggled until both sides heated up and eventually started going strong. There was a scary moment when James Harden went down a bit awkwardly. He came back into the game and seemed okay since.

Anyhow, we won tonight! And can you believe that arena the Rockets and Timberwolves were playing in had as many as 19K people in attendance? I don't think even Toyota Center could fill in that many people! * Speaking of Mile High, it was a6m5's Portland Trail Blazers who soared miles high over the Denver Nuggets with a 130-113 victory in Denver. Rip City tore apart Denver on the road.

* Brett's Oklahoma City Thunder picked up their first road win of the season with a 109-94 evisceration at the Boston Celtics.

* Omnis' Miami Heat were taken down by the visiting Indiana Pacers 81-75.

* What did DCybertron's Phoenix Suns do tonight? Well, they tripped up the visiting Brooklyn Nets 112-104.

* The New York Knicks fell in a close one- a 97-95 defeat NY took hosting the Orlando Magic.

* The Los Angeles Lakers took a 109-102 defeat at the New Orleans Pelicans. The boys from "Nawlins" made sure the Lakers were stuck on just one win. LAL are now 1-7 on the 2014-2015 season.

They weren't taken down by the Pacers. They were let down by suck ass Mario Chalmers and his god-awful shooting. Guy bricked multiple wide-open looks where he had the chance to study the shot for ages before shooting. Deng's blocked dunk was a crippling blow, but Chalmers bricks were the daggers.

Also, Hibbert + midrange hook shot = wtf. How is anyone going to defend that?

They say the club record is 86 for the half(or the first half, I forget). Way this half was going, I'm surprised they couldn't get 90. Denver looks absolutely horrible, both offensively & defensively. :crazy:

Denver is not very good. They have a lot of good pieces, but no overwhelming dominant guy.

Edit: Good 1st half for the Raptors up 7 on the Bulls, Gasol (17pts) is the ONLY reason so far the Bulls are still in this game, that and Valanciunas' epic sucking he's been doing all season. James Johnson has been a monster off the bench having his way offensively and defensively with who ever he's matched up against, this guy's versatility is amazing, whether he's guarding the speed of Rose or the size of most power forwards.

Edit 2: Valaciunas' awfulness has let Bulls right back in, he's starting to annoy me this season.

Edit 3: Raptors now playing awfully, Valanciunas infected everyone. With a quarter to go I bet the Bulls' talent prevails here.

Edit 4: As is nearly always the case, a badly beaten team makes it looks respectable at the end, but the Bulls will take it somewhat comfortably, especially after a retarded 3pt foul from T.Ross.

Bulls take a victory but again the drama unfolds on Rose as he left the game with another injury. However it seems he was able to walk it off but Thibs pulled him from the game and he will undergo an MRI tomorrow. But from the looks of things so far, it's simply a tweaked hamstring. Rose just can't seem to catch a break however. But with Gasol and Butler simply playing out of their minds at the moment, Bulls fans should take comfort knowing we have a great team.

And Raps were simply beat by good defense... that and butler simply owning DeRozan. And Gasol playing like he is in his Lakers championship form. Honestly if he keeps this up for the the entire season he'll have my vote for MVP. Butler for most improved player.
 
That Sixers team is horrible.
29 points at halftime? Losing 123-70? Thats 53 points, by the way, still remaining the only winless team. And shooting 29% doesn't help, either.
What is Sam Hinkie thinking? He's really banking on hope that those #1 picks will turn out well.
 
LOL at the 76'ers, losing by 53pts. Even when the garner talent from the draft their existing players won't know how to win, they'll have too many losing habits.
 
The Sixers only put up 29 points by the half. What? :lol: :crazy: Did they forget to turn up for the first quarter or something?
 
The Philadelphia 76ers were seeking their first win of the season last night. That sure as hell didn't happen in Dallas. McLaren's Dallas Mavericks were leading 73-29 AT THE HALF! 73-29 is like a final score of a beat down in women's college basketball! The Mavs end up winning 123-70. 53-point annihilation. Good news for 76ers fans- it's not the all-time biggest margin of victory in NBA history. That distinction goes to when the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Miami Heat 148-80 on December 17, 1991- a 68-point beat down.


Elsewhere on Thursday night...

* PHI at DAL wasn't close at all. In Memphis, however, the Memphis Grizzlies remained hot with a 111-110 victory over the potentially dangerous Sacramento Kings.

* It was 100-93 as sumbrownkid's Chicago Bulls tripped up Paulie's hot Toronto Raptors in Toronto.

* The Golden State Warriors won themselves an East Meets West match as they won 107-99 over the visiting Brooklyn Nets.

That was like a watching a high school scrimmage. It didn't help the 76ers to go against the best offense in the league. Mavs could have gone scoreless in the 2nd half and still won. A fun game for Mavs fans, but far from a good game.
 
Close shave. I'm not talking about me getting rid of my facial hair with an electric razor earlier today; I'm talking about my Rockets outlasting the 0-8 Philadelphia 76ers. We won ugly- an 88-87 victory after the Sixers led us by 13 twice. The Rockets led twice by 3, but later led by as many as 7 midway into the 4th Quarter. So we avoided being a victim of the now 0-9 Sixers. This is our 19th straight home win against Eastern Conference opponents. Philly's next opponent is at a6m5's San Antonio Spurs on Monday. I smell 0-10 unless San Antonio just doesn't show up this Monday night.


Congratulations to everybody else who avoided failure tonight. As I looked back at one of my past posts here, I said "7K miles" instead of "7K feet" in regards to the Rockets playing in Mexico City. I since changed "miles" to "feet," because I doubt humans could do much of anything 7 miles above sea level- even playing basketball.

Man that Cavs defence is woeful, watched that game today and it's easy to see why they haven't been very successful early on and rank in the bottom few teams of points allowed/100 possessions.

Edit: A better game for the Cavs today though, they hit 11 threes before they missed!:eek: Raptors had a nice win over the Jazz, and Bogut went for a double-double against the Hornets.

It was a very low-scoring game in Oklahoma City tonight. Sort of like a decent college game than an NBA game. Still, the Houston Rockets won 69-65 at the Oklahoma City Thunder. I didn't really follow this game even though it was televised on NBA TV (no blackout, as I learned on Facebook). This game is part of a back-to-back for the Rockets.

Up next for us is a trip to Graceland tomorrow night to take on the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum. That game will be a battle of the NBA's only one-loss teams. One will remain with one loss; the other will log only their second loss. This game is huge for both teams because this is a division game. As anyone would know, the Southwest Division in the NBA is like SEC football in college football. The winner of this game will set the tone even more early as to whom is the better of the two Southwest Division teams early on.


Congratulations to all other winners today, including the Knicks downing the Denver Nuggets in Madison Square Garden.
 
Whooped asses- that's what we got with authority. Rockets failed hard- like, 119-93 hard to Memphis in Memphis. Safe to say Memphis is the hottest team in the NBA with their record. Rockets are now 9-2 on the season.

If Butler keeps playing like this, he is getting a vote for All Star.

More real talk: Bulls fans need to shut the 🤬 up already about Thib's minutes distribution. Again they moaned about him overplaying Butler. I'm sorry were we playing with Rose and Gasol too? Besides the next game is not until Thursday.

Chicago sports fans are stupid. I don't blame Thibs for not trusting Snell.

So NBA fans want to get down with "Boogie" Cousins, and they want to know if Cousins and his Kings can stay hot when the New Orleans Pelicans come to California's capital city. Got to love late games!

I held off on a post like this because I want to mark an assessment. Here's mine after my Rockets played at least ten games...

The 2014-2015 Houston Rockets suffered only their second loss of the young season when they got demolished at Memphis. Their only other loss was to Golden State at home when both HOU and GS were unbeaten to start the season. You can't really make anything about a great start to a season because a great body of work exhibits itself all season. While the Rockets' strong start is a great one, where their mettle will REALLY be tested is how well they can perform against the better teams in the NBA. So far, so good. 9-2 is nothing to laugh at or question even if most of the teams were mostly weak sauce. That even included that narrow escape at home against the Philadelphia 76ers or a four-point win at an injury-laden Oklahoma City Thunder squad. 9-2 is 9-2. As of this post, the Rockets will return home with a five-game homestand that starts off with hosting the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night.

He did have 12pts and 12 boards against the Rockets earlier this year. Just sayin'. 👍 And cool to see that Ingles is getting some good minutes for the Jazz too.
 
Congratulations to Kobe Bryant on becoming the 4th player in NBA history to surpass the 32K points mark. His Lakers took down the Atlanta Hawks 114-109 in Atlanta.

* The New York Knicks failed at the Milwaukee Bucks by losing 117-113 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

* The Utah Jazz couldn't hear the Oklahoma City Thunder because they were busy drowning out OKC with a 98-81 victory. The crowd in Salt Lake City enjoyed seeing their home team pick up the win.

* In the NBA Fan Night Game of the Week (New Orleans at Sacramento), it was the New Orleans Pelicans who handled business in Sacramento as the Pelicans won 106-100. It was great seeing former Rockets contribute like Carl Landry and Omri C for the Kings.


Even though I support Dwight Howard as an integral part of my Rockets, it doesn't mean I praise him like he's the best thing since sliced bread. That said, allegations against DH12 point towards him and child abuse. Reports indicate he once disciplined his son by striking him with the buckle end of a belt. Reduced playing time and other penalties could result from this if DH12 gets struck with any sort of penalties over this matter.

Not directed at you John, but Kobe deserves zero praise for this milestone because it's now the only reason he's playing; to surpass Jordan at the expense of his team & franchise looking like utter ****. Howard made the right move getting out when he did, & I don't blame Nash in the least for just collecting paychecks. Who wants to end his kind of career in such a terrible fashion because Kobe wants to play for Kobe? Not surprising all the Lakers interviews also make mentions of one thing that keeps them from being consistent.

Even if Kobe does surpass Jordan, it won't mean a thing with this record next to it.

I'm a Kobe fan, but if you've seen Jordan play..... yeah(where do you even begin). Again, I love Kobe, but when he signed that bloated final contract, I couldn't believe it. It was clear as day that he didn't care about winning, and I don't understand that mentality. How much money do you need when you are worth hundreds of million already? I'd rather win my way out of the league to retirement. Losing sucks.

No Dwight Howard in the lineup due to a knee injury... and we failed 98-92 to the Los Angeles Lakers. Lakers + ESPN + Rockets usually equals a loss for Red Nation. This is the first back-to-back victory for the Lakers this season. Cold shooting late by the Rockets followed by free throws made by the Lakers ultimately meant the demise for Houston. Win #10 will have to wait as the first game of this five-game home stand ends in defeat for the Rockets.


Congrats to everyone who won tonight, unlike my Rockets.
 
Class act by Toronto for Vince, with no reason (like his last game for ex.) needed besides the 20th Anniversary for the team itself.

@McLaren, nice to see Toronto fans finally give Vince the recognition he deserves for doing what he did for basketball in Canada, however they still boo'd him every possession he had after that during the game.:odd: Is it now light hearted fun, or can they really not let the fact he left go? As a Raptors fan from Australia, Vince Carter was awesome, hell, I still have a soft spot for big softy Chris Bosh.:lol:
