Need for Speed: Rivals

I forgot how beautiful this game looked:

And then I remember how badly the game played...

Why is the interior detailed even though the game does not have cockpit view?
That's how it has been in the recent NFS games. They are modeled but not detailed enough for a cockpit view. (The interior has a low polygon count. It won't look pretty if you get inside somehow.)

In my opinion, Rivals was a quite fun game. Out of the two careers I liked the Racer one the most, but the Cop Career was pretty good, too. I even remember I've played this game a lot with a friend of mine. We pretended Rivals was like an anime, with the game's vehicles as humanoid characters, each with their own personality, aesthetics, and backstory. Or better, we made an anime-like fanfic based on the entire Need for Speed series, with the "original" story being based on Most Wanted 2012 (it was the latest game in the series when I met this friend). It was originally a one-shot series, but since we liked the outcome so much, it then turned into a huge series with various story arcs.

The Frostbite engine has worked wonders with Rivals. Redview County is one of the most gorgeous settings in a videogame, ever. And take note I have the rather "tame" PS3 edition!

Some say that there are some zombie apocalypse indications because the sky turns dark and everything on land has some wierd red color on it

Since I couldn't find a good enough map for Rivals, I decided to make my own for the NFS community. I went to Need For Speed Network and messed around with the HTML. Finding out that each part of the map was made up of a 500x500px image, I saved them all to my desktop. The next step was to connect the puzzle pieces in GIMP. After about half an hour, I finished it up. About 8 MB in size; it's big.

I know im a little late to this party but I just got back into this game and was wondering if anyone wanted to play some online on ps4. If you would shoot me a friend request! Polarbear345 is the psn. Feel free to send me a request and a invite!

Am on ps4 if anyone wants a few games?

I wouldn't mind playing. When're you usually on?

I'm on this on PS4 regularly if anyone wants to play it with me. Generally from 5-11PM GMT weekdays, 9AM-11PM GMT Fri-Sun. Currently working through the careers. Just got the Carrera GT for cop and the car after the Ford GT for racer, I think. I currently have 200,000SP on racer, 50,000 SP on cop. Here's a link to my stream, I stream Rivals a lot.

Here's a few recent videos of me on RIVALS. Many more will be coming on my YouTube channel

Has anyone had this game running at a constant 60fps on PC? I tried locking it to 60fps and it works on some parts of the map but whenever there is a big draw distance it drops into the 50's and even 40's. I'm guessing this is why they released it with the fps locked at 30, which looks horrendous on a 22" monitor. I just got the game today since it was 50% off, and I don't recall 30fps looking this bad when I played it on my ps4.

NFS Rivals is a crappy port for the PC, simply put. You can change all the settings you want but at the end of the day it'll still run like garbage.

Yeah that sucks, this game looks insanely good at 60fps. I've managed to lock it to 50fps and it only drops on a couple of spots on the map.

I thought the whole game runs at 2x speed when you double the frame rate? Did they actually fix this? (My knowledge of the PC version is pretty much limited to watching The Cynical Brit's review when it came out)

Nah they figured out how to fix that, kind of... Basically if you lock your fps to 60 it needs to stay at 60. If it drops below that the whole game will slow down since we are forcing the game to run at the same speed as the fps.

you know, I played this again last night, just for fun. The cop mode is actually enjoyable. I played for at least 3 hours last night before realizing, it's been 3 hours haha. Even though the driving is wonky, if you're a cop. Everyone else on the server almost becomes a cop as well. if anyone would like to play sometime let me know.
