Need for Speed: Rivals

cop and racers have different sets of cars... lame.

Just deflated my hype quite a bit. They should give each car the option of both. Why not?

HP2010 had a few cars that were exclusive to each side of the law, although some of exclusive police cars were later available for the racers faction via paid DLC (The Reventon coupe as an example). I think the Cayman in that game was a police car while the Boxster was a "racer", and with the exception of some sort of exclusive DLC (platform?) I think the Panamera was solely a police car.

Yeah, convertible Racer vehicles had a hard-top Cop counterpart - e.g. SLR Stirling Moss and SLR 722. The Pananarama was a US-only Dr Pepper tie-in I believe.

I personally want the SLS Black to win, its a car that is designed for breaking the law. It has more power, more speed and more cool factor to it.

This has now turned into a "I hate Criterion Games" thread.

I don't really know why. Apparently, people seem to have an issue with trying to innovate and doing something new. Criterion could have been lazy and made carbon-copy rehashes of older games and just put new cars in. What would be the point in that? You may as well just play the original version on PC and mod new cars in if that's what you wanted.

Criterion? Innovate? Are you kidding me? They made one of the best racers of the generation in Paradise and then made a dumbed down, tiny bite-sized version of the same game almost 4 years later. I.e: MW2012.

Fixed that for you. ;)

Does a crap game sell? No. Obviously COD is one of the best, if not the best game out there because it sells so much and always receives good reviews. It's just some people personally don't like it. That does not make it a crap game...
Well god damn, I guess Justin Beiber really is one of the greatest artists ever then by that logic.

Maybe he is. You can't argue with the figures. Your opinion is not fact and has no ground to stand on when up against actual facts.

Because of car balance and variety. HP2010 early in development had exclusive cars like Rivals but changed it half way and it shown. The OP cars in a class were originally racer only,(Viper ACR,Moss) same for the OP cop cars. (The only cars excused from this was the DLC as Criterion saw their whoops and fixed by making both versions of the car capable.) It created a bunch of meh vehicles and people would abuse the best of the crop thinking that they was good. Also it gives variety to the sides of the law,an incentive.

All in all balanced will be the most important part of this NFS. Whats the point of having a Ferrari if everybody spamming the OP car to heaven and back?

You can't just measure greatness with figures. JB is rollin' in it but musically he is just another milked pop star.

What do people not understand? Your opinion is not fact. Justin must be a good artist because he makes music that a lot of people clearly relate to which is why so many buy his music. For god's sake this isn't even worth arguing for...

Paradise was all arcade handling, at lease with MW it lost a bit of arcadeness but still can just tap break and drift.

In HP3 no car was outclassed by a lot, besides for the wrong tiered SL65. I rocked the Agera, the "worst" Hyper Tier car, & beaten most people. *coughs* AOS damn you. *cough* They gave the weaker cars in the tier massive nitrous power & the top tier cars in the tier weak sauce nitrous. That balanced it well leaving it to the player's ability to handle the car's drift style.

You coming on to me?

PS. That's my fave color. <3

This is the worst kind of sophomoric philosophy I have read in a long time.

The "facts" in question also include huge marketing campaigns, the strength of the music industry, Television and other print media, ect... it goes on and on. To be so remiss as to not consider these other factors when making flat assertions is, putting it mildly, the very definition of hubris.

edit:

anyway, on topic.

I know there were few cars in HP that were only available as cop or racer but it was the exception not the rule. That is looking like it will be reversed in Rivals.

And the pessimist in me thinks that they'll just end up trying to sell them to us as DLC. smh

Here's a little clue you can't argue with, either.

Sales figures do not =/= good. There's a fact for you.

Still more valid than your opinion...
What I posted wasn't my actual opinion. It was making fun of your stupid logic; high sales obviously equal good game, hurr durr. By such logic, Enthusia was a complete turd of a game in comparison to Gran Turismo & Forza.

But, it doesn't. You can't argue that fact & thus, this argument is done. Your logic is flawed (another fact!) & it appears others are in agreement.

There's no factual way to determine if a game is good nor bad. It's all opinions no matter what. Now both of you calm down before I get the spritzer bottle out.

They are an indication of a good game, among other things. If you put all those factors together then you can judge if the game was good or not. Just because you may have personally enjoyed Enthusia does not make it a good game. The fact that it didn't sell very well could point to it being a bad game. Then you look at other factors as I said, and that's how you judge. Your logic is the flawed one because once again you tried to use your opinion as fact with no facts or evidence to back it up that would suggest if it was good or not, yet again.

What do people not understand? Your opinion is not fact. Justin must be a good artist because he makes music that a lot of people clearly relate to which is why so many buy his music. For god's sake this isn't even worth arguing for...

Marketing nullifies quality. Justin Bieber is not a good artist, "his" songs are bad from an artistic standpoint. While it's not as bad in the gaming market (since a lot of the good selling games are also good in quality), game franchises like CoD show that it's becoming more and more like the music industry.

Just because you may have personally enjoyed Enthusia does not make it a good game.
The game had the best physics system on PS2: Fact.
The game looked good: Fact.
The game had almost zero marketing: Fact.
Gran Turismo was a too big competitor: Fact.
Enthusia was bad: A not-valid opinion.

Those are all opinions. If you are going to discredit Bacon do it without discrediting yourself...

A physics system, graphics (sheer from a technical perspective) and the overall quality have nothing to do with an opinion. It's all basic logic and sometimes even math. An opinion would be "I don't like this game." which is also something different than saying "This game is bad.".

Again, physics calculation, graphic features, bugs (or no bugs), options etc. are facts, not opinions.

EDIT: But that's not what the discussion was about, sales don't equal quality, period.

Justin Bieber is not a good artist...he makes songs millions of people relate to and like around the world. He wins awards. He is not a good artist.

COD is not a good game...it gets great reviews, sells millions of copies every year and people enjoy playing it. COD wins awards. COD is not a good game.

See how stupid that sounds? You can have your opinion just don't pass it off as fact if you have no actual evidence for it. This is what I keep saying but you keep coming up with the same crap to almost justify why your opinion is fact. When it clearly isn't.

Justin Bieber is not a good artist...he makes songs millions of people relate to and like around the world. He wins awards. He is not a good artist.
He makes nothing, he dances and sings with autotune.
The songs are written by a whole industry behind him, suited for a certain audience.
People also don't relate to the music, the music is written and marketed in a way, that people (especially kids) think they can relate to it.

COD is not a good game...it gets great reviews, sells millions of copies every year and people enjoy playing it. COD wins awards. COD is not a good game.
Reviews are mixed and can be bought, again sales aren't an argument (for the reasons provided, like marketing) and how many important awards has it won anyway?

CoD is not a game by the way, but a franchise and while Modern Warfare felt fresh when it came out, there's a reason why reviews are more and more mixed with every new game in the series. From a technical standpoint, the games are average at best, from a game design point, the games lack too. The reason why so many people play it, is because you can get quickly into it. Thanks to stuff like heavy aim assists, no bullet drop and quick kills.

I could list more things, why the series is seriously flawed, but this is not a Call of Duty thread.

EDIT:
It's still opinions. My god just drop it. 2 + 2 = 4 is a fact. The things you are saying OPINIONS.

How's it an opinion, when a physics engine can be measured by how it reacts, its calculations per second and how it feels compared to real cars? How's a polycount and texture resolution an opinion? This is math, just like 2 + 2.

It's not my opinion. COD is an average game in my opinion. But it has to be a good game because it does so well in so many areas.

Its realism is still opinion. You can't factual recreate reality digitally.

It's not an opinion that Enthusia had better, or more sophisticated, tire and suspension physics than GT4, no and realism is the opposite of an opinion. Some people just don't see flaws when they hit 'em in the face (or don't want to).
