  The american muscle cars are torture! I always over-drift and lose too much speed in the corners, I prefer twitchy handling.

Why would you drift in this game other than to tackle 180 degree hairpins? You lose way too much speed.

I've been using the handbrakes for the K&N challenges to tackle the mountain pass hairpins so I can get the angle I need sooner, since the Challenger cannot turn to save its life and the fact that the road is wet. I also cut onto the dirt, let the car roll out before flooring it so that it can accelerate a lot sooner.

I usually try and use 'minidrifts' through certain turns (90 degree angles) that don't have the dirt (I do the same as you for those). Slightly tap the break and push the analogue stick slightly to the opposite direction and then as far in the direction the turn is. It works okay but I'll probs have to learn how to approach corners better in the long run. :dunce:

Not touched the K&N challenge yet but getting there, did you also get the special edition by the way? Haven't checked the speedwall yet...

Come on. I'm one of the big supporters of this game in this thread, of course I got the Limited Edition! It's the same price as the regular for more stuff :D

Sounds like you do a feint technique. I use regular ol driving; brake, turn, gas. Though it doesn't seem like it, I feel (and am still convinced) there is one overall definitive way of cornering in this game. So far I think it's letting the car roll through the turn without stepping on the gas (or easing on it really smoothly, and slowly if your ride's got a lot of torque)...

Although it's a general assumption, I think it was taken into consideration that cars with the more difficult handling will be the fastest cars in their tiers (risk/reward factor).... thus I have been driving the cars with challenging to very difficult handling characteristics.

I'll admit that it does feel like that, harder handling doesn't just bring rewards mentally but you get what you earn on the track. 👍 That's why I love this game, the arcade spirit of the old sega classics are channeled into it. The 'Make up Time' events are ridiculously unforgiving just like SEGA Rally '95's Lakeside course I got angry at as a kid.

And glad to hear it! I got the special edition too and it was £4 dearer in the UK but worth it in my opinion. Also, it took me a good day or 2 to realize the difference in each of the game's covers.

The Make up events are like time-trials to me, in that you're racing against the clock, which is ultimately a test of core driving skills, not like racing where the goal is to reach the finish line before others.. so yes, Make up events better be frustratingly hard, because that is what tells you if you're driving good or not.

Yup and judging by how it usually kicks my ass on Extreme...I ain't driving good.

👍 Agreed, the visual damage is smashing looking. Oh and that Lambo Countach in the DLC is the best looking car in the game in my opinion. It is freakin' beautiful.

Anyways, update time!

On The Run I am stuck at a 'Make Up Time' event in the darkness (stage 4) bloody solid but I'm getting close & closer to success.

Online I am loving it. The Underground playlist is my favorite by far. Raced for about an hour and a half. Unlocked a "super rare" Ford victoria Yellow Taxi.

I finished that Make up event in Buffalo Run iirc...... I really hate it when you drive into the fence, because the dirt keeps pulling your car back into the beaten path...

Anyway, the 911 GT3 is a nice car to drive, except like all porsches, they are super sluggish on dirt roads.. :grumpy:

Oh god. I was hoping that was just my driving skills which made the Porsches so slow in the dirt...they are ridiculously slow.

I'm getting pretty annoyed with the "Autolog" it keeps changing everyone on my friends list to "your friend" in the leaderboards so I don't know who it is setting the times and it says I have no friends in NFS: The Run when I check the friends tab on the autolog.

Grrr.

EDIT: Finally bet one of your Run times AOS-. Stage 4

I found a solution for that problem but you won't like it, option 1: if you delete your entire friendlist you won't have that problem obviously but if you want it fixed then delete your friends and add them again SLOWLY, if the problem pop up again then the last friend who accepted you is the problem. option 2: you delete your friends one by one until you found your faulty friend.

:ouch: Not happening, I guess I'll have to live with it...

The weird thing is I'm playing right now and it's went back to normal, It's only like 50% of the time it does that, very weird.

Hey at least you have a other people's high scores for The Run... I'm always playing against myself. :grumpy:

And if you think that's odd, my friends' list only appears for the challenges..

:( I only have 3 people in my Autolog...WHEN IT WORKS.

Tell a lie...5.

Sorry for DP but I just had to post this here....

COMPLETED THE RUN ON EXTREME DIFFICULTY

The amount of pride I feel is both immense and sad.

One of the hardest trophies I think I've ever heard, those 'Make Up Time' events are ridiculous.

🤬 The Mob was a serious PITA!!!!

That final stretch out the building with the chopper shooting you was incredibly BS. There's no spotlight for you to swerve when you enter the building and since you can't swerve because you have to drive through the doorway, you eat at least 8 bullets putting you at critical damage, and after the drift through corner cutscene, it's all up to luck how much the chopper shoots you.

True that.

I used the Cayenne cars as deflectors in that last part, putting them nearest the windows...that one took me about 3 hours in total to get passed.

It was so bad because they get these stupid boosts and suddenly they come flying up at you. In the level where they start mauling at you in an elimination race, if I didn't make sure I blocked them, they'd kill me. If I get too caught up doing that, I can't catch the first racer.... took me a while to figure something out.

Though it was awesome how they no longer appear if you wipe them out.

Yeah, I had that issue too, you really do have to balance between fighting and racing! I am solely focusing on the online right now, That's all I need for a platinum, high rank and the gold trophy obtained through the bonus wheel. :D I get Platinums for games I love and this has came into that category.

Lucky you even got online... I've got so many crashes and cut connections I can't really be bothered anymore.

Everyone seems to be having issues but mine hasn't been too bad. :ouch: Which is really weird because that's what's keeping my IRL friends from buying it, the twitchy online.

Some people have it worser than others. Friend says they're working on this, but the time being, can't be helped.

I wished Black Box wasn't so dumb with some of the tech.

Have you ever used emulators and used save/load states? They totally should have used that for checkpoint resets... and it's not like it's impossible to do either. When I was rejoining the race in Chicago after stealing an Audi, I reach the last checkpoint in 3rd place, wreck, reset, and now I'm in 5th place. That's just stupid.

Yeah, it's a strange one right enough...when I was doing the 4th challenge in the New York series I kept having to dodge one of the rivals I had already defeated because he continued to drive. Keep in mind this in oncoming traffic so, COLLISIONS EVERYWHERE.

EA'll never fix online, HP3 is twitchy every now and then. Shift 2 is just a big joke.

EA Servers have always been disgraceful, the reason I don't play NHL or FIFA.
