So the wife wants an 05 accord sedan V6.....loaded, I am trying to convince her on a Subaru WRX.....looking for pointers, practical explanations as to why my idea is better !!!!! :scared:

Well, the WRX is AWD. It's going to be a lot easier to handle in the snow, and living in Ontario you must get your fair share of snow. Plus, the station wagon WRX is a hell of a lot more practical than an Accord sedan.

Which WRX are you planning on purchasing? If it works in your advantage, you could always mention to price difference of the two cars.

actually, the pricing is VERY similar ...4 wheel drive is a biggie, but the Accord has the ROCK SOLID reliability history going for it....I am looking for the WRX wagon....( not the STi ) classic blue with gold wheels...just does it for me !

Subaru is quite high on the reliability scale too. If she don't mind the difference in confort and its looks, it should not be hard to convince her... I'm currently shopping and my girlfriend told me, for some reason I don't get, that she likes the WRX very much. Me --> :D

The only concern I have is that we're shopping for a 2002 or 2003 model with low mileage, but a WRX that has not been beaten to death is as probable as a Pinto dragster...

Have you pitched the obvious? The WRX is a proper driver's car while the Accord is comfortable, reliable transportation? If your wife has even a bit of interest in having some fun behind the wheel, a back to back test drive should settle which car is better.

If this doesn't matter a bit to her, then you might just want to re-think the Accord. You can still get a 6-speed and sports package... well.. here in the States you can.

I have tried the drivers car thing, but to her, ats all about the reliability....she is also looking at a new camry...( oh god nooooo) so ugly....would rather have the accord

What about the rest of the Subaru line up? The new turbocharged versions of the Legacy, Outback and Forester are all good choices.

If she's looking for something that is a bit more refined, the WRX is not the way to go. The shifter is sticky and doesn't give off the greatest feeling in the world. There are lots of squeeks here and there, and the windshield (at least on the 2004s) chip relatively easily. The fun factor of it offsets all of this though. :)

Try to find more page like this one and show her...

In that case, your only ace is the AWD. One of my wife's girlfriends has an '04 Accord sedan. It really is a damn good car --for what it is.

A TSX would be great, too.

Yes, I definately agree with JP. A TSX sounds like an excellent compromise. Too bad Honda doesn't make a version of the TSX with the MDX drivetrain.

TSX eh? I just don;t know.....nice car, nice rep, blue chip quality, and comands a little respect, were as you buy a WRX, everyone except street racers and ralley guys question it...... alright, now lets talk the SUV..............( next year ) Forester Turbo VS honda CRX ( yuck) Toyota Rav 4 ( boo )

I'd force her to the WRX..my brother has the same problem.. his wife wants a family car...and these are his options..

WRX
New Legacy
Audi A4

And for the SUV option he wants a Yukon Denali.

How about the Saturn Vue AWD V6? If M5Power wanders on in here, he'll give you the 0-60 time, the 1/4 mile time, the gas tank capacity, the wheelbase, the interior room, the car height, the horsepower rating, and he'll probably mention something about it being the second or third quickest SUV available today.

Did you guys know the Saturn Vue V6 is a honda engine? they traded GM engines for use of Onstar, thats why they are the only two manufacturers with OnStar

I'd tell her WRX or divorce, but then maybe my priorities are a little different from yours.
That's why your Snuggle bear avatar is doing what he's doing...

TTJ, does your wife drive a stick? Because a WRX automatic is going to be hard to find, hence not discounted. If she likes to drive a manual trans, you're golden.

I'd drive the WRX wagon, too. I like them also, but suspension differences mean they don't handle as well as the sedan, for whatever stupid reason. Look into the new Legacy, which is a great looking car more directly in competition with the Accord.

Drop the girl, get an Evo VIII. You can get another woman easily.

Thanks for the input neon_duke.....I am actually in the middle of teaching her the fine art of the stick shift ( she needs a little work on her 5th to 3rd passing shift ) its on a 14 year old mazda....pretty rough, On a new tranny she will be golden....

Although on face-value they're the same thin, they're really for two different markets. Your preference doesn't surprise me.

Go for a used 993, like your avatar. They're at about that money now.

God, if 993 weren;t so freakin expensive to keep on the roads, there would be nothing I would want more, but i was looking into the WRX wagon I have a wife and a german shepherd....and mountain bikes, got that would be terrible having a bike rack on a 993....makes me barf

It'd be hilarious. I saw a TVR Chimaera towing a caravan once.

German shepherd, German car. What's the problem? :D
