Turn-10 did a Twitch.tv interview just now, they confirmed a few new things;

-All cars are in vista mode
-open wheel race cars
-brand new painting options, with new materials.
-no auction house or storefront, new method coming not yet talked about.
-no night time racing
-no weather effects

There will be more details about the open wheel race cars soon.

Wow. Totally speechless. Oh well. We better have this in Forza 6 at least.

exactly what i was thinking, I'm hoping time and keeping to a release schedule are the major factors.

I agree. This will also hurt a little more if GT6 manages to do time and weather for most/all tracks.

Well I'm boycotting GT6 since i can't retroactively boycott GT5. So that means they will and finally get the sounds right lol.

Without weather and night racing I will likely not buy FM5.
Without FM5 I will likely not buy an Xbox-One.

I'm very surprised that they are not pushing those exact types of things, ya know, something genuinely new to the series on the console leap. It's very polished looking, so far, but I can't personally see the value in it, especially since it would necessitate a pretty pricey new machine that I'm also very skeptical of. I can't be the only one...

edit: Just saw an interview with Dan where he was asked directly if the game had as many cars as Forza 4. He deflected it initially (probably talked about drivatars, the cloud, or how perfectly trimmed his beard is) then sauntered back onto the bulletin point 'hundreds of cars' which tells me that it's less than we got in FM4. Now if they are all brand new, or at least FM4 autovista quality, then I can understand. At this point I'm just commentating though, I've lost interest in actually buying it.

No weather? No Night? Well, I'm not jumping into next gen early.

Really bad news, they should have had no excuse for next gen. Thankfully for me I won't be getting a One until at least 2 years into the cycle by which time Forza 6 should be and hopefully that does have these key features.

I agree on the day night change, why not???

How much racing happens in the rain or at night? Im sure these features were a casualty of the launch release date, but I dont think it kills the game.

Well, I went ahead and preordered it anyway. Not because T10 can do no wrong, but I was getting the Bone (lol) day one anyway. It will probably make me happy anyway... here's hoping. The Night and weather were not buying factors for me, but I recognize that for the game's audience those were very important features. The thought of that made me hesitant. This is my Mario Bros Wii U, buying a game just because

Lol, I'm gonna game so alone on launch day. This new console has made me start thinking that I'm being a very egotistic as a gamer. As in these restrictions don't impact ME. It has the games I like...

And I preordered both consoles even, but only preordered Forza, and wanted to preorder Titanfall but wasnt available for pre order yet

Wow, I thought time of day and weather would standard for Forza 5.

I have to say outside Nascar, racing in rain is not rare, like 50/50 chance its raining or not. if you go outside in the UK with a football, or intend to eat a BBQ it starts to rain. Football, racing face rain every week and carry on till the pitch is water logged or cars are aquaplaning. Most races carry on in the wet for decades and still do

Only of late F1 has had some races delayed or stopped, more to do with incredible storms worse than europe that you get in asia.

The grand prix a few days in Montreal north of you during practice and qualifying was run in the rain, not stops. Often this part of Canada is raining. Jenson won a thrilling race there last year in the wet. For the last 30 years I watch F1 its been dominated by rain and cars that could cope better so pretty much every race went on and you have wet races one after the other, I could bring up endless examples as its literally like this each day/week over here in the Eu and no matter if your racing in any formula/category or playing a sport like football rugby you just carry on. Its actaully surprising when there's no rain for a few days. Not sure how I can put any clearer how rain and motor racing in the EU, asia is part and parcel of racing as its a daily occurance and 95% of the time you carry on and finish like you have all your life in the rain.

melbourne its often raining at the time we go. Interlagos rains all the time due to its location

I find your comment incredible,

Night to a lesser degree of course. But this is Forza motorsports, three big 24hour races happen at spa, le mans and nurburging, to not reinact them with the cars in Forza, called motorsports is quite a omission at this stage. Driving at sunset is a great feature, also to have varying gameplay.

I'm sure I've been trolled and took the bait but if not then thats an incredible view

I'll just leave this here:

I don't think anybody is saying they're unwelcome features. However, to call off the purchase because they are not included seems like a bit of an overreaction.

GT5 did this to a degree, and frankly... I am shocked.:scared:

It's the fact they have failed to deliver some of, if not THE most requested community features time and time and time again. Add to this just how bad X1 and microsoft policies are, they can't just go around ignoring the community anymore. Why would I buy an underpowered, overpriced anti consumer device for a game that can't even get feature parity with it's last gen rival?

They have MORE than enough power to do it. They simple don't care enough about what the players actually want to implement it.

Really poor excuse. Real racing takes place in the real world which is susceptible to all kinds of weather at any time. Racing at night is less common but still happens enough that it should have been a big aim for this game.

Let's not forget this is supposed to be next generation gaming. It shouldn't just be about looking better, it should be about feeling like a generation on as well and a racing game still not heaving day/night and weather just doesn't seem like next generation leap to me.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're ignoring the community. The Forza community is an incredibly diverse community, a lot of people are asking for a lot of different things, and T10 understands this. Just because they haven't added it doesn't mean they don't want to. It's just that their priorities are spread across more areas than what you would like to see.

Hi all, I'm new here. First post! :)

I'm so confused after E3. :banghead: I was convinced I would go for XBOX One and Forza Motorsport 5 after finding out about GT6 (GT 5.5) on PS3. Esspecially when I found out about Forza Vista for all cars and the leap that next generation consoles bring with it. But now? I'm not so sure. No night racing and no weather effects in FM5 is a massive disappointment for me.

About the console themselves? It's the fact that the XBOX One is uglier, more expensive (I have no interest in Kinect 2), DRM restrictive and substantially less powerful than the Playstation 4. It also appears most of the old expensive wheel controllers are not compatible with with XBOX One which it's going proprietary again. So why not buy the PS4? Because I'm a very busy man with a big family and I honestly can say I bought a console and played only 2 games on it in the last 5 years, driving games.

Here is my dilemma, there is no Gran Turismo 6 for PS4. I also switched to FM3 and XBOX 360 and felt no need to return to PS3 after a very disappointing GT5. GT6 on PS3 is just well, no words to describe how far behind the times Polyphony Digital are these days. Yes a GT6 on PS4 with all cars Premium and the improvements in graphics, audio and AI that would and should be Sony's big selling point for PS4. But DriveClub? Really? Sony will compete with FM5 with DriveClub? The Crew appears to be a better game and more fun than DriveClub, and it's multi-platform. Not to mention Project CARS will also be multi-platform.

So this is how I feel: I'm going to end up buying a console I don't like, for a game that is missing 2 key features I've been hoping for in the FM games for years. Why? Because PD are, yet again planning to release, GT6, an unfinished game on a dated console.

So my question to you all is what do you think of my dilemma and of FM5?

Sooo... we might be getting Indy Car?!

If this is the trade-off for weather/night - game on!

Sell 360. Buy PS3 + GTA V bundle for $299. Buy GT6. Play until GT7 comes out then buy PS4 + GT7 bundle (inevitable). Profit.

Just turn down the brightness on your television and point two flashlights at it.

Just a little example we get 150-200 days a year of rain. We can get rain for many hours each day for weeks in a row and then a week or two without much. most of its continous moderate rain, not enough to call a football game off, not enough enough to call a race off. Sometimes we get even number, sometimes we get more rainy damp days than dry a year.

Last year we got the wettest for 40 years, not that this is important but us lot had most of the summer last year rained out. Actually affected businesses.

Anyways, day night transition is a lot of work but T10 should be able to do rain at least.

I still stand my point that rain and night racing isn't big enough part of racing around the world to be a deal breaking feature. iRacing does not have rain.

Maybe 10-20% of races during the year globally are affected by weather. It may rain alot in certain areas but theres other areas where it does not rain as much.

Night racing is almost exclusively restricted to long distance endurance races over 6 hours long. So again, a small part of racing.

It is a generation leap, but at the same time a launch title, only 2 years removed from the last game. Turn 10 is moving at a much more rapid pace then their nearest competitor across the board, so a speed bump like this does not bother me.

It's the fact they have failed to deliver some of, if not THE most requested community features time and time and time again. I think its a hardware issue. Forza 5 is a launch game, and while the Xbox One is powerful, it still has its limits. I dont think they were confident in adding such performance sapping features to a launch title. OK Drive Club is suppose to have weather and time of day change, but I doubt it will be anywhere near as big as Forza 5.

Anyways I think you Forza fans are somewhat spoiled. You're very upset about no weather and time change. But what do you think Polphony Digital puts its fans through? Standard cars? No livery editor? Bad sound? Bad damage? 70% Japanese cars? Last generation hardware? The grass isnt so green over there.

I feel your pain with Gran Turismo 6. Very disappointed in the PS3 blunder as well. Instead of looking forward to GT6/PS4 in 2014 fans will be looking forward to PS3 track DLC in 2014. Really bizarre, and sad.

I say just wait and see how things play out. I have a feeling Microsoft will end up relaxing the restrictions and DRM sometime after launch. One analyst says Microsoft will drop the price of the Xbox One soon after launch as well. Those events would certainly make F5 and Xbox One more attractive.

See how well Drive Club turns out and who knows, GT7 may come to PS4 sooner rather then later

Sooo... we might be getting Indy Car?!

FM5: Dissapointed (at this stage)
GT6: Underwhelmed (at this stage)
Drive Club: Complete unknown
pCars: Definite buy even if it is 'small' compared to the others. It's beautiful, richly detailed technically/artistically, and there is a genuine passion that comes to the surface. It's everything I hoped the 'Shift' series would be. It has a distinct and deliberate 'style direction' that I think PD and T10 have equally deliberately avoided establishing, in order to better suite a wider variety of tastes. pCars seems purpose built for a niche, and I find myself a part of that niche, which makes it rather special. I can't wait for it.

Forza is meant to simulating the real world. It's not sunny and dry 24/7/365 in the real world and Forza shouldn't be either. Simple as that. I don't want to race at night in the rain too often but it should be possible.

It's no good saying "GT is just as bad/worse" with problems, that's the wrong way to look at it. I'd also disagree they're moving at a faster pace, many features have gone backwards and as others have said big requests not happened.

Lasrer scanned tracks, adaptive human AI and new content is great but it doesn't seem like a generational leap forward, it seems like a rushed launch title and shows you exactly what a PS4 GT6 game would have been like as well.

Just out of curiosity, why are they getting rid of auction house and storefront? I'm very interested in hearing about this "new" feature that will be replacing them. Also, I never thought I'd ever say this but, the lack of night time a bit of a let down. Either way it's neither a make or break feature for me.

They didn't deliver 2 features & now the game is a colossal flop.

We get it. Take the needle off & go spout your displeasure for the Xbox One somewhere else. There's enough anti-/fanboys spewing garbage in other threads already.

Weather redeemed. I would trade night for a full, updated Nurburgring. Also, Spa and/or Bathurst would be complete. Legitimate tire wear and fuel consumption better be in, damnit.
