I'd prefer lambo anyway, GT4 has RUF & plenty of games have Ferraris & Porsches.

IGN article also mentions Volvo as being confirmed....which is interesting :D

Hell men, if their idea of downloadable cars will work well I'm sure some hackers will make a ferrari or something like that and you'll be able to download it.

Notice, they didn't say, no lambo ;)
So that's the "European exotic" quoted in the magazine article. Oh well, no Ferrari or Porsche for GT4, but 500 cars and 50 tracks (including the 'Ring) will keep us all occupied for one helluva long time.

The Zonda could be the European Exotic.
It's good to have it confirmed that you can race head to head on the Ring.
I hope Red Rock is one of the GT2 tracks they bring back.

Nope, it ain't Pagani since this was an exotic that had been "sorley missed".

Yeah I'd like Red Rock back again too along with an updated High Speed Ring, which is the first track I ever played in GT :)

Maybe the European Exotic is Volvos  .....

I'll get my coat. ;)

Watch the European exotic turn out to be Lada

There are so Euro exotics that PD can absorb:
-Isdera
-Ultima
-Noble
-Rinspeed
-BMW-Alpina
-Gemballa
-Koniggsegg
-ABT
-Bentley

PD can worry about Ferrari and Porsche later (for GT5), once GT4 will be another blockbuster for Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., they will soon cough up enough dough to aquire those two (annoyingly demanded) marques.

You forgot Italdesign :p

Their car in NFS2 was really sweet to drive and to look at

Interesting thought. The Cala would be an sneaky way to get a Lambo in :)

I like the mew G meter feature. I hope that makes into the final version of the game.

The videos didn't work for me, big shocker. I guess it wasn't much.

Interesting how progressive scan has been confirmed not to be in the game. Weird how the game looks worse with it. Must be the tire smoke, and rally dust effect doesn't look like it's part on the game. I noticed these effects look less real when I play GT3 on my HDTV, which converts everything into 480p.

The G-Force meter is an interesting addition - I don't see why we have Brake/Throttle on our HUD these days though.

hopefully you can still turn off the throttle/brake meter by pressing select.

You misunderstood - it looks worse, because the higher datarate and processing power required to output 60x480 lines rather than 30x480 per second meant they had to switch off a number of effects (like say depth of field blur, heat blur, etc), with the net result that in 480p the game looks less good than in 480i.

No, I understood it just fine. It's weird that they had to turn all that extra effects off. You didn't understand what I meant, which could have been clearer.

I'll just quote a man behind the KillZone game, regarding the Progressive Scan inclusion:

"Q: Will you be using the Playstation 2's current support of Widescreen and Progressive Scan? And will players also be able to choose between the 50 or 60 Hz mode?

A: Implementing progressive scan would mean a severe reduction in texture memory. It would be impossible for us to support progressive scan whilst keeping our high level of graphical detail. "

Progressive scan? (i've heard of it just forgotten what it means).

Regular TV, VHS, PS2, etc. is 480i. The i stands for interlaced. Images are displayed with odd lines first, then a second run of the even lines. This makes the image appear very fuzzy, and with poor color due to color bleeding when the lines are mixed together.

480p is displayed one line after an other. It's shot progressively, and a single picture image is shot at 60hz, or 60 cycles per second. 480i is 30 hz, 30hz for the odd lines, and 30hz for the even lines totaling 60hz for one picture image. 480p means for a much sharper image, with much better color compared to 480i.

"Ferrari and Porsche, [aren't] impossible, but in terms of GT4, it won't happen."

damn i feel cheated :(

I aint bothered in the least about prog scan.

My new phillips 36inch digital widescreen set with 100 hz scan + various digital imaging mode, and an rgb scart connection produces superb crystal clear PS2 images so good you can even clearly read the small print in the licesnse of many games.

Plus it also has wireless dolby digital 5.1 surround too boot.:D :D

There maybe no Ferraris or Porsches but a few nice old classics to keep me happy..300SL Gullwing,56 Vette, ect.

Yeah my 33cm television probably won't show that big a difference, it is however an issue Sony should look to address next time around, I know video bandwidth is always at a premium but when you see the levels NV40 and R420 are capable of, surely such things won't slaughter our framerate in overhead.
