Great to have new events already, I thought we might have to wait for the first set to expire!

Has anybody else running into a "You have to register at gran-turismo.com to participate" message in the Nissan race?

It lets me do some of the other Seasonal Events, but not the one with the Nissan... :(

The thing is, I AM REGISTERED... I'm logged into the site right now.

Anybody?

That was damn fast. PD seems more and more on the ball keeping the game fresh.

I think that has to do with GT Academy, i think its telling you your not registered for it?

I admit... I use the driving line on the 'Ring because I just plain don't know it well enough to keep the pedal to the floor on a lot of those blind hills. Some of them you can stay in it, some you have to lift, some you have to brake. Maybe someday I'll know it well enough, but I don't yet.

Race it enough and you will get it. Back on GT4 when I first played it, I hated it. Plus it was part of a license test. After racing it time and time again, you will learn it. Sectors 1,2 and 4 are easier to learn that 3. Your times will get faster and faster as you learn the track. Now it probably my favorite track. Many other love it because of the challenge it gives. If you can master it, you can master any track.

I thought the same as well. Looks like PD is trying to get some brownie points. Now give us more tracks and events via updates or DLC and we will be back on track where GT5 should have been already IMO.

Driving the NASCAR cars at the Ring isn't as hard as you might think. Throttle control is the most important part, and try to avoid the curbs. The slightest bit of wheelspin can send this car out of control, but the grip threshold is quite high. I have to say, it was actually relaly fun lapping the Ring in a stock car.

I'm enjoying the Seasonals; a lot more fun than endlessly grinding enduros, and since the payout is more than the cost of the cars that need to be entered, it's encouraging me to buy new cars, that are usually near-stock, to compete.

The Mini race fell easily enough, but am I the only one finding the Focus one nearly impossible? I gain the usual few seconds on the leader the first lap, but the Focus RS over-takes the Civic after that, and while I can still gain time, it's only a second, maybe 2, a lap. I don't think I'm that far off pace since I can manage all the other races pretty easily.

The Mustang is a bit harder than expected, and the limitations are unusual. You can't get close to the minimum weight, since Stage 1 takes you under, but I'm pulling consistent low 1:42's in what I thought was a decently tuned Mustang. Looks like I'll have to throw some more gear at it; I know this track all too well, I just can't eke out much more from the car in this state of tune.

(EDIT) Nevermind, the Mustang just needed a proper transmission. Low 1:41's or high 1:40's are good enough to take out the lead by just after the Corkscrew (or during if you're brave).

I must be doing something wrong in the Mini challenge, because I have tried it twice, driving what I thought were some fairly clean laps, and only managed 8th!! both times. :( I did upgrade to the racing transmission so what speed should I set? Maybe I'm just not getting enough acceleration. I upgraded what else I could, though I think I only put on the sport suspension because I don't know squat about setting up cars.

For FWD like the Mini, drop the front ride hieght, it will help loads with turning into corners.

Thanks, I will try that. Does that require the full race suspension or just the adjustable sport one?

You can do a bit with the 4500cr set but the races pay enough to blow 20k on the full race setup. A bit of toe in on the front too, -0.5.

Yeah I agree that the Focus race is very hard without assists, I tried many times but could never catch the Focus RS. Then a brief look here and golded the race right after...
I'm not a fan of assists but skid recovery works wonders here.

Still can't figure out the RX-7 race. I refuse to waste any more credits on this one until i know what's needed.

The NASCAR one was extremely easy. Beat the lead car by like 15 seconds. . .

I've done the NASCAR race and London time trial so far.

The NASCAR race is really good fun trying to control the car around the Nordschleife. After a couple of attempts at getting used to the car, it wasn't too hard to beat with a stock car that I won for completing the Jeff Gordon challenge.

As for the time trial, it was good to see myself in the top 40, even if its only for a few minutes!

So, do the old events dissapeear when the new ones pop-up?

I haven't got access to my PS3 at the mo (I'm having some house renovations done, so I'm living with my folks), so I'm starting to stress that I'm missing some good events here...

Hey damn are the old events from last week gone? I had no time to play them and want to give them a try today :/

The first selection of races are still there, i think they expire on the 6th January. Not sure when the new ones finish, i'm doing a 4 hour b-spec race at the moment.

Marvellous. I know what I'm doing on Boxing day now! (cleaning the house while the wife nags me for even suggesting I might play Gran Turismo)

When are the Christmas Eve free cars going to be up?? It's 1000hrs here in the UK and I've just checked the PS store, but not there.

Can't get first on the RX7 race yet, had a 380ps 102X kg RX7 and still around 14 sec off the lead skyline, which RX7 goes down to 800kg? and it doesn't allow me to use my RE amemiya RX7.

Wow! I wasn't expecting this. Too bad I have to concentrate on the old ones as I'm leaving in a few days, but I'm so excited!! Thank you PD.

Gah, that's disappointing. Oh well... if I want gold...

Nascars are a ton of fun. Caught Gordon by Bergwerk, spun out, and re-caught him right at Pflanzgarten. People who hate them, really, give it a try; I'm not a fan of their normal races, but on the 'Ring, they're a blast 👍

The new events expire on the 13th, which is a bit odd as that's 7 days after the first events expire, but they were added 4 days after the first events.

So maybe PD are having some time off for the end of the year, so added the events now.
