oh any tips on nascar? 2nd lap and i am only 10th....no way...i should be like 5th after first lap right to have any chance?

Learn the track, try driving the AMG challange. Once you know the track you should be much higher than 10th by the end of lap 2.

For those struggling (as I have been for who knows how long now) with the new RX7 event at Tsukuba, and are determined not to use Skid Recovery, here's what I used to get gold:

- Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02
- Stage 3 weight Reduction/windows/carbon hood (1051Kg)
- Rigidity Improvement
- Added all aero parts (set to 0/28)
- Fully custom transmission (set to 193mph)
- Sports Intake Manifold + Racing Air Filter
- Sports ECU + Stage 2 Engine Tuning (394 HP)
- Catalytic converter + Titanium Semi-racing exhaust
- Fully custom Suspension (Ride Height -20/-20, Springs 16.0/6.3, Dampers 10/5, 10/5, ARB 4/4, camber 2.0/2.0, toe 0/0)
- Twin clutch plates + Carbon propeller shaft + Semi-racing flywheel
- Brakes set to 8/9
- Tyres were Sports Hard as standard
- ABS 1, TC 0, SRF off, ASM off, Driving line off
- MOST IMPORTANTLY - painted the car Matte Yellow :D

I know it's a great deal of cash to spend, but I wanted the car anyway due to amazing fun had in GT5 Prologue, I wanted it in yellow, and I wanted a souped up one regardless. This was a perfect excuse and bloody hell it was all very necessary to win this race.

What you will find is that if you're getting a good deal out of the car you should be running 1'00.xxx laps all the way through, best lap here was 1'00.000 but 59s are easily do-able even without Skid Recovery, ASM, TCS etc. You will typically knock about 3 seconds per lap off the leading Skyline and on lap 10 he catches the Fairlady Z backmarker that slows him down a LOT and you will make up much more time on Lap 10. On the exit of the corner that leads onto the back straight on lap 10 I got really out of shape and on the grass, but still managed to re-pass the SKyline into the last corner.

That was a mega challenge, and you end up with a killer RX-7 tuned to the back teeth at the end :)

Remember....YELLOW.

Hope this helps a fella or two 👍

MY RX-7 event seem to be glitched,

at the first corner time thing, I'm 30 seconds behind
then the nexter time check I'm 44 seconds behind and I was driving well,

then in the second to last lap I passed the lot and became second

then I passed the number one, but I'm still driving second and end up not winning the race because I am 10 seconds behind a non existing driver ?!?!

I just experienced the exact same thing. There's definitely some sort of glitch.

Could it be that at the start of the race the cars are all cruising at pace car speed so when the leader gets to sector 1 his time was slow, by the time you get there it appears you were only 14 or so seconds down the road, but by the time you reach sectors 2 and 3 the leading Skyline has reached top lapping speed and the gap is much more representative of his distance to yours?

Mines top banana yellow.

Instant laptime improvement! :D

I bet all the events are already downloaded as a part of 1.05, and they are getting activated at a pre-determined date. I won't be surprised if something else pops up at around new years eve :sly:

Pretty sure they're all server-based. We may have downloaded the core functionality behind them, but from now on I'm guessing all they have to do is change which races are featured on the server and we'll see them in real time with no notable download.

I've only done the Nascar nurburgring race so far. I used no aids, brake bias 4/3, downforce 70/85, and changed the front toe to +0.10. Got gold by 3 seconds after a dozen attempts.

I thought the same thing my first couple of runs until I realized I was passing that final car way too easily...it's not the first place car you're passing, but actually the last place car being lapped.

Woah. Forget that Mazda race. I ran 1:01s and a couple of 1:00s using Syn's setup and still finished 10 seconds behind 1st place.

Came 1st at Tsukuba first try. i took a picture because i literally passed the Skyline while OFF the track, pounding for the line. Won by 0.127 seconds.

Used the RX7 Spirit R, 374bhp and 1150kg I think, so a fair bit under. I am fairly "schooled" on Tsukuba though having raced it a billion times.... You need to run 1 minute flat or 1:01 laps consistently and you will be right on the final guy by the end. If I'd know it'd be this close i'd have lightened the car :)

The Nascar race I got 4th, but I had to reverse out of 2 accidents and my 2nd lap was 10 seconds slower than my first....and I only lost by 6 seconds....so that sucked. Tricky old car to nurse round a narrow twisty track though, feels very lumbering. Shouldn't be a problem if I can get MY stupid act together...

Haven't tried the others yet, but these special events are great - I love it :D

Well that's not fair. Judging by what you're saying I should have been a lot closer.

I would say so yeah - I had to "bump" a few times, sure, but I wasn't being dirty as such when passing. I literally ran 10 laps that were all within 1 second of each other, so you ought to have been a bit closer than 6 seconds!

Just did the ring one. Was 7th at the end of lap 1, took the lead just before the second karousel (sp?).

Is there a section that lists what times you have to meet?

I'm trying to do the first Nissan Event, but I'm not sure what Time I'm supposed to meet or beat to win...

Where do I find this? Thanks in advance!

The Focus RS that's so fast in the Madrid event is cheating, he's using Sport Hard tyres while all others are using Comfort Soft.

How to catch this cheater? Can't even get closer to him, only keep getting 2nd with 15+ seconds behind him.

Argh, I hate american muscle cars. :(
:0
blasphemy!

*looks at avatar*

ehh saw it coming.

I can't keep that mustang on the road.

Tuned it to 392hp and used racing soft tires and still I can't do it.

I did the weight reduction of the windows and that one above and still can't do it. Am I really that bad? :grumpy:
Try exiting turns at a higher gear if you are trying to keep traction all the time. But the reality with muscle cars is, you are probably going to have to use some controlled chaos.
I wouldn't mess with the suspension or weight either unless you really know how to handle the car before you change it, as it can make things MUCH harder with muscle cars. Sometimes you need that weight to keep the torque from launching you into space.

My Nascar makes to much HP by like a lot...

WTF

EDIT: Never even drove it or did an oil change.

Ford Focus ST race is rigged and never can be beaten. I'm hoping they'll look into it again because it's impossible to win it. The Ford RS is using sports hard which is cheating. I can only get as close as 15 secs to him after 5 laps. That Civic Type R alone took me all the way to the last lap to pass him and he was only the 2nd place car. I had to drive 1:47 lap times.

Can't believe we got new events already! I'm still fighting thru the other ones. Glad to see some challenging races with a wide range of cars. If they give us seasonal races like this every two weeks or so that would be awesome.

Any chance of the mods creating an Seasonal Races forum for tips and setups?

In places, the Nascar race requires me to ignore the feeling that 'this is just way too fast'.

Where can I find the Mini Cooper S '07 ?

My BMW dealer only has Z4's M3/5 etc, no Mini's ?

Do I have to wait for another one to come up in the Used dealers ?

I dunno if this is supposed to be a joke or not... but try the Mini dealership

Did the cooper event without Skid Recovery but i needed Skid recovery for the Ford Focus one. It was just out of my reach to do it, i was too far behind.

I think maybe the same in the RX-7 race. I can lap 1:03 and sometimes 102 but im still making mistaked every so often and planting into a wall. Im not prepared to spend out on fully customisable everything so it might be skid force on for that too.

Nice Set up. I passed first place at the beginning of lap 10. Finished the race at 10 minutes and 1 second. I did use skid recovery though.👍
