Sadly it seems that the abuse has become more rampant in the past few weeks, even on Forzaplanet. Lets just all try to have mature debates and discussions and cut the nonsense.

Anyway, I am assuming this thread is about the new DLC track, which I am quite excited about. It looks fantastic and we will finally have our long awaited test track back, new and improved so it seems. I'm just wondering if its just one big oval shaped track, or if there might be different layouts as well.

And as a result of ignoring my clear instruction for the attacks and abuse to stop you now have a two day holiday from GT Planet.

Does anyone else feel that the AUP is optional and the staff can be ignored?

No sir, i will edit my post right away! 👍

Well, we have ways for the developer to continue to update their game after its been released. I really don't think there is anything wrong with expanding a game that you enjoy playing, and if you don't like it you don't need to pay for it.

However, I do not like it when publishers really do go out cash grabbing -
Saints Row 3 - cheats pack .. Its only £1 but still, they are on the disk!
DiRT 3 - was a DLC package that came out days after the game launched for £7 (After spending £40 on the game, i was a bit annoyed)

So yeah, DLC is great when its used to make a good game better in some way, AND its optional! :D

Who decides what the finished state of a game is?

The publisher. In GT5s case its 'Sony Computer Entertainment'

I don't understand how people determine what should and should not have been in the game. It's Kaz's decision and ultimately his opinion. When you make a racing game, you can decide what to put in it. I don't think there's a "This car/track/option/feature should have been in the game from the start." And really, it comes down to if you don't like it don't buy it, but don't come crying to us about you not buying it. We don't really care.

I love a thread that starts out, "yes I am trolling" .. I don't understand why it's still open.. the title has nothing to do with the OP to begin with.

When the most awaited sequel of one of the best selling videogames in history turns out to be a half-done massive disappointment, that's the minimum to be expected. It's slowly improving, though.

To be fair to PD, history has pretty much shown that each GT release on a new console issn't up to par with the previous release. GT3 wasn't as big as GT2, GT5 not as big as GT4, etc. I think if we can all stick with this one, GT6 will make up for it.

Totally this.

yes, i'm obviously trolling because i don't agree with paying for stuff that should've been in the game originally.

i bought the collectors edition, thinking i was buying a complete game (which after 6 years it should've been) and what i got instead was a game missing half the tracks from old games, badly upscaled GT4 tracks, and none of the tuning aspects advertised, and now PD are asking for more money for these missing features?

this is what gaming is, because this is what you have let it become. unfinished products, broken promises, and post purchase upsales.

Welcome to modern gaming. My advice is to treat buying games like buying clothes. If you're unsure, try it on. See what you think. Only buy what you know fits.

There was a ton of speculation and news here leading up to GT5, as there will be whenever the slightest detail of 6 is announced or leaked (*cough*Amar*cough*). With no disrespect, you should've known what you were getting into when you bought the game.

Everything else since day 1 has been icing on the cake, for me at least.

It might be all the new people. Coming here to complain about the game they received as a gift. I really don't know. But as I see it this discussion is getting old.

Yes, the game is obviously not finished. It would take WAY too long to premium every 1,000 cars, add weather and 24 hour lighting effects for all tracks. That might require a 2nd disk even, much like GT2.

Then there's this;
Well, Kaz himself admitted to wanting two more years in development time.

People complained about development time. It came out sooner than was wanted & they complain about it not being completed? Mhmm... good logic.

We also have something we never thought would happen to a GT game; DLC. We expected updates, but not several packs of DLC including Spa, Aventador & even a Standard > Premium Upgrade. People should just be happy with what they've got, instead of taking it all for granted.

This does not really need to be discussed any further in my eyes.

P.S. Don't bother with "TL;DR" replies. Please.

Exactly. 👍

People complain that it took too long for GT5 to be developed. Then people complain that GT5 is unfinished when they released it early to suit their needs.

GT5 took all the time it took (5 years) and it was released "unfinished" because the game had to be made from scratch. People moan about, for example, only having 200 or so Premium cars. Don't forget GT3 had less than 200 cars and it is the best selling and highest rated GT to date. These 200 cars had no cockpit view or anything like that.

The reason for that is that it was the first GT on PS2 and the game had to be started from scratch just like GT5. GT6 won't take as long and it won't have all the issues people moan about.

What are hoping to achieve with this thread? Some kind of revolution, where you inspire the masses to rise up and march on Polyphony Digital demanding that they make these things available for free? Is this Occupy Tokyo R246?

If you feel that strongly about it, the answer is simple: don't buy it. But admitting to trolling isn't going to achieve anything, except a visit from the moderators. If your thread was closed - and it was closed for very calid reasons - it is not an invitation to open another thread on the same topic.

i know it's hard to emphasise sarcasm with text, but really?

point for this thread? i don't know, a little bit of venting, trying to see if i'm the only person who feels like they're being cheated, you know what they say about misery loving company.

trying to see if i'm the only person who feels like they're being cheated, you know what they say about misery loving company.

Here's an idea ----> play a different game?

Most people I know that play a game and don't like it, pass on it and play something else. It's not like GT5 is the only game left in the world. No reason to fire it up every day and say to yourself "I hate this game, but I'll play it anyway".

I'm about to contradict myself by posting in this thread. Oh well.

I believe everyone's entitled to their own opinion. They can start a new thread and start complaining about the smallest detail in GT5 just to vent some anger or frustration all they want. The thing is, though, we don't have to respond to try to change their opinion by repeating the same reasons over and over again. These folks won't change their mind just because you're telling them your opinion, so why bother, unless you're doing it to boost your post count.

But wait, every time someone replies to the thread, it gets updated back to the top of page 1, which creates more attention and more replies, which leads to OP being told by a pack of GTP'ers what his/her opinion should be.

These threads are like the desperate kids that are trying to get your attention, to get you to respond, so they feel important. The more you pay attention to them, the more active and frequent these threads will become.

So next time when you see these threads and see the OP ranting, just don't reply and after a while the OP will stop and move on somewhere else. If something does need fixing, tell them to vote on it in the Feedback section. Just my 2 cents.

You have been reported.

Guys, I'm pretty sure a member of the moderation staff posting in the thread twice saying that the thread isn't against the AUP and not locking it afterwards (and in fact banning someone for personally attacking the OP) means you can stop making posts purely to say that you reported it for being against the AUP.

point for this thread? i don't know, a little bit of venting, trying to see if i'm the only person who feels like they're being cheated, you know what they say about misery loving company.

But what have you been cheated out of? The only post in this thread that has a valid thing missing from GT5 that sorta supports your point is the one SHIRIKAWA posted.

Edit:

People complained about development time. It came out sooner than was wanted & they complain about it not being completed? Mhmm... good logic.
Kaz also said that the game was done and ready to ship in October of 2009, and said that the game was delayed throughout 2010 because they needed more time to track down bugs but otherwise the game was complete. Something doesn't add up.

There's also something to be said for the idea that if Sony didn't tell Kaz that enough was enough, the game would never have come out.

Scaff,

You are right, my post on the first page was uncalled for. I apologize to Ed Nut for the remark and to Scaff for having to come in to the thread and have to give the warning. I guess after reading his first thread on the subject I responded in this thread without really thinking about it or even acknowledging his argument. Again, I apologize to Ed and Scaff.

i never said i hated GT5, i like the game, i play it alot, and get a good amount of enjoyment out of it. the part i have a problem this is paying for features i feel should've been included in the $60 retail price ($100 if you sprung for the collectors edition)

these are my opinions, feel free to do what you like with them, i'm not saying you should or should not do anything, if you are happy to pay an extra $4 for something that has been in every GT, except this one, then you go ahead, my personal opinion is that this should be a free patch, to put something that should've always been available, into the game.

It's a fully new track. New to GT.

Also I don't recall GT5 being GT6. We always knew GT6 was going to be more complete. GT5 took longish but they gave us a lot for a first release.

Last time round we had GT3 which was tiny. Also since when did people just expect GT to offer all this? Other games don't even do half as much let alone at this quality.

I can understand people complaining an EA/Activision product doesn't have enough but levelling that at GT is stupid.

I totally agree we shouldn't be paying extra for them to add a feature back in that was removed after being in every game previous.

Everybody knew GT5 was unfinished about 20 mins of playing it after the first time it went in their PS3 in November 2010,

Not a great time to discover that is it?

As long as PD are not charging for patches which fix stuff then that's ok.

DLC is optional. Well if a car became a leaderboard car then people may feel pressured to buy it I suppose to compete.
No leaderboards anyway though.

As for developers giving support for games further on down its lifespan. Harmonix are excellent. Burnout had a load of extra content for free also. Not just fixes but more gameplay.

if GT5 was meant to be a technical precursor to GT6, then it should not have given it a full $60 (and CE) release, and i really wouldn't call an oval with some scenery a complete new track.
