You know, I was thinking the same thing. It's Overtime. I guess the Texans are trying to be more of a passing team (and they are a passing team), but you GOT to utilize Arian Foster more often. Take it in basketball- feed the hot hand. If the passing game isn't working, stick to the ground. Whatever happened to something like mixing run with pass?
I even posted in my blog about expectations. Expectation says we should be in the playoffs, but expectations are always battles against reality. We don't have that winning character to make us playoff locks every season. We're still mostly a middle-of-the-road team that just had several flat tires mid-season. Now, we're almost out of gas trying to make that playoff push. ONLY hope we have is if the Jaguars lose at the Colts on Sunday (and of course, we have to win out).
I just wish some fans would shut up about expectations. We're not a winning football team or some sort of powerhouse. Expectations = Texans in 2010 season playoffs. Reality = still work to be done to truly be a contender. So as much as I love the Texans, we're not THERE yet. Close, late losses don't help your cause much either. It is the same old song and dance that we lose, but it wasn't like we were in any hope of upsetting the Ravens at home. Houston teams are usually considered second half teams. Well, this second half has been miserable for the Texans.
This season just isn't meant to be after so many agonizing defeats. People on Facebook just flood the Texans' fan page with hateful comments when the Texans lose, but I always try to be the half-full guy. It's kind of why I'm not as much a pro sports fan as I am college. Almost like since it's the pros, there's no reason why you should lose any game. The Texans come back to force Overtime and lose in Overtime. Plain and simple. It's been a very poor season. But again- stop buying into expectations because reality always says otherwise.
