Maximum occupancy at Dolphin Stadium is 76,500. Baseball games there usually get 30k.
They still share? I didn't know anyone shared anymore.

Small detail note for your own knowledge. Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers.

And as UnoMOTO pointed out larger and more popular games can have around 100,000 in attendance. Your typical pro football stadium can hold around 80,000 and some as much as 100,000 but a few are bigger.

Damn.

NFL must have one of the highest average attendances for a sport, Premiership football must average around 35-40K, Rugby is quite low, 10k, Cricket varies too much, we have a 90,000 seater (in Melbourne) but some test grounds hold as little as over 10,000, like in West Indies and Sri Lanka.

I am right in thinking it's the biggest sport stateside, aren't I? Bigger than Baseball and Basketball?

Well, officially the biggest seating capacity for NFL an NFL stadium is 91,665 in FedEx Field, but somehow we manage to always put more in than teh official capacity.

But in the US, yes football is usually teh biggest sport, but it depends on where you are. For example, in Kentucky basketball is a religion and football is what fills in the first part of fall.

Yesterday was a great day, though. Dolphins won, Brett Farve got his record, Tampa Bay scored its first kickoff return in history, and Ron Paul raised 6 million dollars. :D

Oh My God Dolphins Beat The Ravens! Lulz!
I got off the couch to cheer for them for the first time all season: No longer will they show montages of the '76 Tampa Bay Bucs in the 4th quarter, and having the Pats potentially go 16-0 doesn't sting anymore.

Now they can mail in the rest of the season.

Oh, of course. Marlins will be in Dolphins Stadium until '10.
...Provided the Marlins aren't traded to San Antonio in three moving vans for what's behind Door #3.

Pro Bowl rosters were out today. To lazy to find the list. But I know a few that stood out:

-Adrian Peterson
-Braylon Edwards
-Torry Holt (my man!)
-Sean Taylor (RIP)
-Patrick Willis (Niner LB, hate the team but he's alright)
-Demeco Ryans
-Cribbs (KR from the Browns)

Players that didn't make it, but should have:
-Mario Williams
-Marques Colston
-Fred Taylor
-Larry Fitz (dunno if he was in or not)

Was an ugly game tonight, especially with MORE FREAKING INJURIES. But TO will be ready for the playoffs and we'll take care of the 'skins next week for the home field. My only worry is the injuries compounded with players trying to come back from injury early...*cough*Terry Glenn*cough*

All in all, it should be a wild week in the NFL.

My picks from Dec. 18th (from another forum):
Steelers @ Rams
Cowboys @ Panthers - We have so many injuries I wouldn't be surprised if we lose.
Raiders @ Jaguars - Not even going to be close...
Eagles @ Saints - If Bush starts they lose, if he plays with limited carries they win.
Chiefs @ Lions - If the Chiefs lead at halftime count on them winning...but I don't so they won't.
Browns @ Bengals (division game) - Browns by 2 touchdowns...minimum.
Packers @ Bears (division game) - DON'T KICK IT TO HESTER FOR ****S SAKE!
Giants @ Bills - Eli Eli Eli, quit throwing INTs. Count on this being VERY ugly for the Giants. You smell that? I smell a MELTDOWN!
Texans @ Colts (division game) - I smell a close game coming...
Falcons @ Cardinals - Warner will throw for 400+ yards.
Buccaneers @ 49'ers - Won't even be close, not within 17pts.
Ravens @ Seahawks - Ravens will self destruct and won't score more than 7 points.
Dolphins @ Patriots (division game)- New England just might score 60...
Jets @ Titans - Close game, overtime perhaps.
Redskins @ Vikings - Not even going to be close...
Broncos @ Chargers (division game) - SD will win by 21pts or more.

I thought this was the game NFL Network had been waiting for! Surely, millions of people would be frantically calling their cable company to pick up NFL Network for this game! (Yes, I read TMQ :)).

Hey guys, Pats vs. Giants game this Saturday will be on CBS and NBC! Just dropping info
Unfortunately, if the radio is correct, we will have to listen to the NFL Network play call from Bryant Gumble. He sucks.

Too many fans were complaining for the NFL to not make this widely available. I am sure teh TMQ readers have jumped on this big time and I know Texas actually had a state legislature hearing on the NFL Network situation after fans were upset they couldn't watch the Dallas game.
I think the NFL Network situation will backfire on the NFL, if just because it doesn't make the money it should. They would make more money by offering NFL Sunday Ticket to everyone.

This is true. He sounds like a deathbed patient. Such a feeble, timid voice.

Can't believe it. Tom Brady broke my dude Peyton's record. Moss beat Rice. Pats are undefeated. Too bad the Colts are going to beat them in the AFC championship...

I've already posted a lengthy anger filled rant on another forum (thankfully that allowed profanity) so I'll just post my feelings here in few short points.
  • Here's a word for you Pats fans for your 16-0-0 season: -> ASTERISK
  • The Giants and more so the Pats personally insulted us the fans by playing ANY starters in that game. No one's position would of been improved or worsened by benching your starters.
  • **** you Brady and Bellicheck for being the most egotistical people in professional sports since George Steinbrenner.
  • Hey guys (the Pats), it is about US US US US and not ME ME ME ME. Stats and records should be MEANINGLESS. The GOAL of playing PROFESSIONAL SPORTS IS A ******* CHAMPIONSHIP.

Burn in hell New England you cheating bastards. I'm seriously thinking about not watching the NFL again because of this crap. Even if the Cowboys or Packers make it to the Superbowl count on it being rigged for America's ******* "Patriot" team.

Get over it. The Patriots are the best team in the league whether they're cheating or not. I don't like them either, but there is no other team out there that has a reasonable chance to beat them.

Side note: why is Tom Coughlin still employed? He is the worst and least-respected coach in the NFL, and always has that stupid 'WTF' face.

Look I hate the NFL, but what the Pats did is amazing. Going undefeated in any sport is quite a feat, or getting very close to undefeated in some of the sports with a longer season. I don't understand why you are so angry? And I certainly don't understand how in the hell the Pats cheated? I watched that game last night and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. If you do not care for the Pats, that's your choice but why insult them? I would like to see you go out there and do what those players do every weekend.

Woah, man, chill out. Nobody hates the Patriots more than I (My poor Dolphins), but they came to play every sunday and deserved their record. Seriously, the Brady/Moss combo deserves those records too. They made MULTIPLE ridiculous plays this season. If you make secondaries look that shameful, you deserve such recognition. The Pats probably have the best management and coaching in the league as well. Their management is absolutely sublime to have maintained such success for 7 years now with many different rosters.

And it's not like they demolished every team either-- they've had enough close games to still be "mortal" in my opinion. I'd like to see how they fare in the playoffs. Perhaps the ol' Dolphins can still have a sip of the bubbly if they don't win the championship.

That Pats/Giants game was the first game I've seen from start to finish.

Gotta say, Welker (SP?) done a good job with some of the blocks, especially for Maroney's (SP again?) TD.

Oh and is Eli related to Peyton by any chance?

I hope the Packers face either the Patriots or the Colts. Packers are the only NFC team I would support. Patriots vs. Colts should be a spectacle of a game should they meet in the AFC championship. If the Pats play the Packers in the Superbowl, I hope Green Bay gives them a trouncing to win just like in 1996.

If the packers win the Superbowl, that means that they will have won in 1966, 1967, 1996, and 2007. They might not win another one until 2016, lol.

They ended the game with 36 sec. left and there was only a touchdown difference. At least in hockey even if it's a blow out they PLAY TIL THE END. Lame.

Colts ended it? Why would you bother playing and risk injury when you've already clinched a playoff spot?

I really don't see what difference it made...

Anyways, what the heck happened to the Cowboys?! Even Buffalo played better then they did.
A lot of good games yesterday, I must say.

Especially when you continue to play well into the end of the game and keep hammering out touchdowns, people complain about that too.
