Didn't disappeared, just melted into a wall, nothing special

Could you please tell us what the difference is? I fail to see the subtlety there. It shouldn't happen in the first place. Side mirrors are part of the car, not holograms, and should react accordingly. That's what simulation and realism are all about: attention to details.

One question, who cares? Tiny clipping error on a probably not final version of an unreleased game.

Get a grip guys, seriously.

I don't think I've ever seen a GT5 crash video without some clipping problems, and if you want to talk sims, iRacing probably has the worst issues with it of any I've ever seen.

The collision model is only ever going to be a general representation of the visual model (in Shift it's mainly some key vertices used to represent the edges), and in the case of the Paganis it looks like it might have actually been at their request not to have the wing mirrors as separable parts. Issue over? :)

Where did you obtain that information? can you post a link, please.

He said it looks like it might, which means it's his opinion rather than fact.

Thats what I thought but I just wanted to be sure... because if it is a glitch it is no big deal (its not great but its not a deal breaker) but if in fact it is what he is saying thats a big deal to me and I wont be driving Zondas in the game...

Let me get this straight, you wouldn't drive any Pagani on the game if they didn't have removable mirrors? :odd:

Over-reaction? GT5 doesn't even have removable mirrors so I don't see why this should make any difference.

Hell, if clipping mirrors into walls is the worst the game has, I'll be all over it. If people want to not play a game because of a flaw like that...be my guest.

It's not a matter of overreacting, people. No game is flawless. But when you use cockpit view, things like clipping side mirrors can become quite irritating. What's the more, this glitch can be fixed. EA aren't new to programming. I'll still buy the game.

EA are publishing the game not developing it.

Thats not what I wrote.
I said if it was a glitch its not great but its ok by me but if the zondas dont have the same amount/level of damage that other cars have I wont drive them because I will like to keep it as real as I can get.

And I also didnt sa I wouldnt be buying the game or playing it.

Shift 2 is not a simulation game, never will be, this is pure arcade game. For fun, slide sideways and burn rubber :)

That is not what the devs are claiming..

That's untrue simply based on Shift 1. It had both realistic and unrealistic elements. It's certainly a far cry from the Burnouts and Hot Pursuits of the world.

It could be more realistic. That's what we hope for from Shift 2. But pure arcade it is not.

I've played Shift Demo and it looks to me that was indeed an Arcade style game. And i want that in Shift 2. When i watch those movies it looks exactly like Shift one and i want exactly that :>)

In the end it's just a game that we will play for couple months until some new title appears. And have fun with it :) Don't be so demanding and expect nothing there is less probability that you will disappoint

And your statement is incorrect. The other titles in the series are arcade, sure. But for Shift 2, they are clearly aiming at sim fans of GT5 and actually using professional race drivers in American Le Mans, GT1 and D1 to make sure it IS a real racing sim (vs GT5, a driving sim). They are also using real telemetry and basing suspensions off actual CAD designs of the cars they are including. Arcade games don't do that. And in what appears to be a shot at PD, their producer said they are including what racing cars actual feel and act like, not what they think they should act like. So when you bump a car in Shift 2, there is a realistic reaction, not the sound of someone hitting a trash can with a bat.

EDIT: You can actually in real life smoke tires and slide sideways. And Shift was shipped incomplete by all accounts so if you only played the Demo, you are way off from what this game is going to be.

Do you mean in shift 2 there will be two different interior views? One with helmet cam with blur on the dashobard and a normal interior view without helmet and blur? From what I remember in shift 1, normal interior view have that blur effect inside but there wasn't any helmet cam yet, so maybe 2 different dashboard view with different effects. Do you mean this?

That's exactly what I mean. The motion blur is only attached to the helmet cam this time around.

Doesn't anyone remember that article a few posts back?

That out of literally all the cars in Shift 1, only the F and R Zondas don't have separable mirrors, despite it being probably the easiest model to split up like that in the whole game, and every other system needed for them to detatch having been written for the car already ? :)

Cant remember ever breaking or loosing a mirror in Shift... hoods I lost a lot :D :D :D but I can seem to remember loosing any mrrors...

So even other Tier 4 cars had separable mirrors? but not the Zondas? maybe its just a coincidence... I dont think Pagani would go to all that trouble - the Zonda R isnt much of a comercial vehicle - isnt race legal or street legal it cant even race privatly on some circuits because of the sound restrictions most circuits have - so the target buyer wouldnt really be under much influence from the video game industry (playing in another completly different league)

So, basically:

- In 2001 GT3 introduced Cote d' Azure track, reused in last decade as almost 2X wider Monte Carlo circuit.

- In 2002 Project Gotham Racing 2 introduced Nurburgring Nordschleife with twice the track-width and the same model have been re-used in-house for almost a decade (PRG3, PGR4, Forza 2, Forza 3)

- In 2009 NFS: Shift indroduced Spa Francorchamps with variable precentage of increased width of the track, especially from Les Combs to Blanchimont.

- In 2011 we have Shift 2 with Bathurst with almost twice the width.

WHY ON EARTH IS THIS CRAP REPEATING?

What, Toca Race Driver 3 is still the overall Holy Grail of track modelling (and track quantity as well), even 5 years and whole damn hadrware generation later?

As an 'aussie' who has seen many a race at Bathurst, yes, the track is waaaay too wide! It is the narrowness and undulations of the track that make it so difficult. Anyway, perhaps of more concern is the slipping & sliding that is going on in those vids! Very much looked like the physics/handling from Shift 1 !! :ill: But I guess you have to factor in what assists were on/off, and of course there is the much talked about new 'elite' handling model which we are yet to see ....

In 2011 we have Shift 2 with Bathurst with almost twice the width.

So much for realism... Anyway, as GT5 ignored the track altogether and Grid has aged, I'll settle for that somewhat wider version of Bathurst. Mount Panorama Circuit is fascinatingly demanding and it's about time racing sims started including it. It'll still be great racing through the Esses and Conrod Straight. At least Shift Unleashed gives us many awesome real-world tracks.

That's one of the best things in the game, in my opinion. Choice.
Thanks for the info Terronium. and definitely yes, more options avaliable = more happy customers, I really hate that blur thingy the chance to use an interior view without it is great!

And for the series "a good news always come with a bad one.." Ladies and gentlemen introducing the "Notorius B.I.G. Bathurst Editon"

I've seen the latest demo of Shift 2 and latest movies from it. Game feels exactly like first game, lots of slide and tire squeak :) It's going to be awesome.

Only good NFS were those High Stakes, and Porsche one, every single one Underground lookalike was crappy. Until Shift bring back NFS band from graveyard and i would not be surprised if Shift 3 is in very high consideration after big success that Shift 2 definitely will be :)

My only worry is for the cars because I've read that different cars were present to different consoles. Like lack of Ferrari on PS3 and some crappy cars instead were given in DLC I just hope that now there will be equal amount of cars for every console.

All i know is i have watched that gameplay video 10 times now and only just realised that the track the Zonda is on is/spose to be Bathurst ???

WTF HAVE THEY DONE TO THAT BEAUTIFUL TRACK ?????

Talk about gaining weight, the track is supersized in NFS. What happened to the narrow, undulating turns that has made bathurst famous all these years?

There is no point adding a REAL-WORLD TRACK to your game if it is just the same sequence of left and right corner's whilst completely ignoring the width and undulations of the real world track.

I was looking forward to it, but won't even bother hiring it now. Nice hype EA.
