The problem comes from someone coming in here and basically slamming the game, because he says DEFINITIVELY that the tracks are too wide. Without a shred of proof other than his 'impression'. An impression he further bolsters by claiming that the track is only wide enough for two cars in certain places.
When shown DEFINITIVE proof that his 'impression' is totally false, you can get three or four comfortably in those narrow spots, apparently, HE is the one that feels 'insulted'...
Look, anyone here with a camera with a zoom lens can prove for themselves how much FOV and apparent track width varies DRAMATICALLY depending on focal length. Just take your camera out, and shoot a familiar curve on a street or road near you. Shoot through the windshield, and vary the focal length from ultra-wide angle to moderate zoom. That road is going to look COMPLETELY different as you adjust the zoom.
Shoot as a few cars go past. Shoot wide angle, shoot normal, shoot slight zoom... I guarantee that you will get a different impression of how many cars can fit on the road easily at different focal lengths.
OK, if you have GT5, change the zoom in cockpit view, and go zoom around a twisty track. I guarantee, if you are used to one zoom value, you will find yourself missing apexes, and judging curves poorly. And that basically shows that NOTHING has changed but the lens, and you have a totally different impression of the track.
But, if you have to manufacture disdain for a game you haven't even played yet by inventing impressions without a shred of empirical proof, you can't really complain when called out on it...
Trust me, I'm no Shift apologist. When I get it IN MY HANDS, I will give it as much scrutiny and criticism I have given GT5. But I didn't pre-criticize GT5. I waited until I had it. I can only suggest everyone does the same...
