Xbox - game freezes a lot
PS3 - frame rate drops, screen tearing

to me this is a big problem, cmon, its not like its the first game of the series.

they make this games with XX AI cars, all these little graphical details that look wonderfull, have a lot of features like splatter bugs, debris, motion blur, etc etc etc but technicaly it doesnt work...

If you cant own 3 houses and 2 iates.... you should try to buy them... that ruins the economy (silly metaphor)

Why do they do that? it totaly ruins the games... if you cant have 20 AI run smothly than go with 16... I know why they do that - have a lot of features on the game description that dont run well - thats not an honest approach IMO
 
If the AI are slow that doesn't mean they are stupid all the time .. i tried to figure out whats the problem because i was the fastest in each race i don't remember my self restarting a race in GT5 maybe only in challenge mode. Although , try to race them with a slightly slower car .. you will discover some of their talents not in beating you , in their way of driving in general.
The problem in GT5 is there is no way to adjust difficoulty level, I know I can drop my hp down but actually I need to remove about 100 hp and run with comfort soft I don't want be forced to do that. I want to tune my 700hp supercars and race them into competitive events against competitive drivers. I don't want to avoid or detune my favorites models Lambo, Mercedes Ferrari... just because the AI is too slow. Another problem, there is a general lack of events in career mode, Super GT championship? Only 3 races. Seasonal events are all about 80's japanese cars, trucks... and weird things like that. Where are GT racecars events? They are clearly not enough Why they mix prototypes and GT cars all together in the same class in career mode? That's wrong. PD's fault if they are not considering all this being a problem, because it's the main problem of GT5.

In shift2 i only tried maybe 6 track layouts i will try more with faster car as i want to be accurate in all my posts .. until now i didn't face any issues other than 1 , the game freezes sometimes when you customize your car
Thanks for the feedback, a shame about freezing in custiomization mode, I hope a patch will solve it. Looking forward for eventual reports :)

+1 my friend, frame drops in a racing game is a game killer. EA only care about filling the game description. We want to play the game not read your BS 👎

Awww.. They don't limit you? You can use any car in any event regardless of power?

Not really like i said in another post there is big category like D-C-B-A (those I've seen so far), but if you max out your car on the category you're racing on, you'll win it easy.
 
I'm playing in Elite with abs on so far. I got an Evo IX and I'm pretty much cruising. Only place I got trouble is drifting so far.

but Elite refers to your car handling mode.
The game difficulty (easy, medium, hard) is something different, it referes to the AI only. Would you know which difficulty your are playing with?

Is this about Shift 2? Or about some other game...? :sly:

I'll check again but I dont remember seeing Easy medium hard, the only time I saw it was when I did Time Attack, there you have a easy medium and hard time to beat, I've always beaten the hard time so far.

Ok just checked and I'm playing on Hard/Elite with abs on.
 
Just from playing like about half an hour yesterday, I reached level 7. I didn't touch the Steering wheel settings yet but the clutch is funny , you can't notice any difference weather its working or not , maybe there is something that i have to do other than enable it from "options" menu

Not to crap in your frosted flakes or anything but this was one of the key things to adjust in order to get a good feel from your wheel (there i go rhyming again) in the first Shift. The stock sensitivity settings are garbage usually so tweak away, I'm 99% sure you can find some set-up that will make the game exponentially more fun for you.
 
Like i said, Hard/Elite but with abs to 1 (elite by default put no abs).

I know some people wanted to know what you can adjust on the pad here's the option list :

(name could be different in english I'm translating from french)
Vibration intensity
Steering Deadzone
Steering sensitivity
Trottle inertia
Trottle sensitivity
Braking Inertia
Braking sensitivity
Clutch Inertia
Clutch sensitivity
Speed sensitivity
Speed sensitivity (drift)

All those parameter can be change from 0% to 100%.
 
Great I like it, I dont give a **** about frame drops, ultrarealistic physic, floaty sensation (that can be erased setting the wheel just like I did in shift 1). Enjoyed the first that was full of stupid events.. I will sure enojy this one that has more racing and less idiot stuffs like stars for spinning other cars and more cars, more tracks. Thanks all for the videos and infos.
 
I was very disappointed until I saw this video which seems to be in Elite mode/wheel and manual clutch... not bad at all...

 
From all videos I've seen, there's one thing I don't recognize, a strange sound that was not in Shift 1, you'll recognize it easily...it's like clapping sound, well, don't know how to name it :D ...Any idea what is it ? 💡

It's probably the sound of the rubber marbles and debris kicking up on the car when you drive off the racing line.

no, it wasn't... you always had the feeling to pilot an overcraft at any speed... (at least until some mods came out for PC)
this video seems much more interresting: mass transfer, inertia, overall realistic behavior...

Among the things that concerned me in preliminary videos I saw was some lack of online options. I know the only GT5 I really play now is online league races and in the end this isn't a surprise. So I would think online could be a longevity key for Shift2.

However the developer chat mentioned there is no replay for online nor can you lock handling models for online races. Both of those especially replay seem to limit the long term viability of online leagues on Shift2.

With all the sharing options they put in it is a bit confusing that they neglected that in online where i think there is such a rich possibility for sharing your victories and failures against your friends.

So hopefully it was either a misstatement or something that will get patched eventually.

Hopefully a patch comes, because the lack of options for online will keep me off of it indefinitely.

I won't get my game until tomorrow so won't know the reality but yeah, even just the addition of replay would be huge. I can't see effective online leagues without it. You need it to check for bad passes etc. But more important just bragging rights and sharing of the interesting events.
