Wings might be winning or in close games when they lose, but they won't be doing well if they keep getting outshot. How they keep winning with a negative shot margin is beyond me.

Today and tonight...

* Red vs. Blue. Red was the better color as the Detroit Red Wings took down the St. Louis Blues 4-3. However, this game needed Overtime to settle this one.

* What'cha gonna do when the Minnesota Wild run wild on you? If you're the Nashville Predators, you apparently play dead or so next to no effort to bounce back, because they lost 4-0 at the Wild. NSH lost their last game 4-0. So not a good back-to-back for the Preds.

* It was worse in Tampa Bay. Try a 5-0 beat down delivered by the TB Lightning at home over the Anaheim Ducks. Ouch.

* The Dallas Stars shone brightly with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Buffalo Sabres.

* The Florida Panthers hosted the New York Rangers, and the two needed Overtime before the Rangers prevailed with a 5-4 victory.

* Original Six goodness was in Boston as Toronto went to Boston. The Boston Bruins won 2-0 over the visiting Maple Leafs of Toronto.

* Ten goals were exchanged between Colorado and Washington. By a football-like score, it was the Washington Capitals who won 7-3 over the Colorado Avalanche.

I salute all the other winners on this day.

Let me provide a look at standings heading into tonight's games:

LEGEND: (win-loss-overtime, points)

TOP 3 IN EACH CONFERENCE:
* EASTERN-ATLANTIC: Montreal (16-4-2, 34 pts.), OTT (10-5-5, 25), DET (11-8-2, 24)
* EASTERN-METROPOLITAN: New York Rangers (15-3-2, 32), WAS (13-5-1, 27), PIT (12-8-0, 24)
* WESTERN-CENTRAL: Dallas (17-4-0, 34 pts.), STL (13-6-2, 28), MIN (11-5-3, 25)
* WESTERN-PACIFIC: San Jose (13-8-0, 26 pts.), LA (23-8-0, 24), VAN (8-8-6, 22)

WILD CARD (Top 2):
* EAST WILD CARD: New Jersey (11-8-1, 23), New York Islanders (10-8-3, 23)
* WEST WILD CARD: Nashville (11-5-3, 25), CHI (11-8-2, 24)

There's still a lot of season left. Have to try to keep going strong if you are among the better eight of each conference. Try to show improvement if you are outside of the better eight teams in each conference.

So you love hockey, huh? Well guess what? As many as 13 games are on the card for tonight! Among others...

* AnthonyD1993's Detroit Red Wings begins a six-game home stand starting with another Original Six team- the Boston Bruins.

* Our RedDragon's Minnesota Wild will host the Vancouver Canucks.

* NBCSN will feature the Philadelphia Flyers paying a visit to Barclays Center and the New York Islanders.

* New York City's other team, the New York Rangers, will face a test by hosting a fellow Original Six team- the Montreal Canadiens. Yep- Habs at Rangers.

* Something's got to give with two sliding teams. It's the Nashville Predators trying to finally score a point for the first time since getting blanked the past three games. They are at the Buffalo Sabres are trying to get over their woes also.

* The defending champion Chicago Blackhawks will go play at the San Jose Sharks.

No matter what game or games you'll be following, go enjoy some hockey on this "Thanksgiving Eve."

[UPDATE] No NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry this week. It's just showing the Flyers at Islanders.

No games on Thanksgiving, so I'll just discuss yesterday's action.

Yesterday saw AnthonyD1993's Red Wings and RedDragon's Wild lose. Detroit lost 3-2 in Overtime to Boston yesterday. The Wild lost 3-2 to Vancouver in regulation.

Elsewhere yesterday... Nashville remembered how to score as they won 3-2 at Buffalo. Montreal spanked the New York Rangers 5-1 at Madison Square Garden. The New York Islanders defended home turf well with a 3-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers. 2-1 was the score in Tampa Bay as the Tampa Bay Lightning won in a Shootout against the Los Angeles Kings.

By the way, according to Forbes, the most valuable NHL franchise is... the New York Rangers. It is said the Rangers are worth about $1.2B US Dollars. Two others that round out the Top 3 are the $1.18B USD Montreal Canadiens and the $1.15B USD Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hockey action is coming up for Black Friday, including the big game between two of the NHL's Original Six- the New York Rangers at the Boston Bruins in the Thanksgiving Showdown. Enjoy some NHL hockey this weekend, folks.

The Boston Bruins won a crazy game at home against the New York Rangers. 4-3 was the score in Boston as the Bruins have now won five straight games. There were quite a few good hits and fights in this one. Boston basically won on the heels of two rather quick goals late in the 3rd Period. But again- that game was nuts!

A few scores for this post...

* Anaheim thought they had themselves an easy 2-0 win over Chicago. That is... until Chicago decided to go into less than two minutes left in the Third Period to score a goal. Then, they'd score again about 80 seconds later to tie the game. The game would go into Overtime, and Chicago put on the deathblow with an Overtime goal. It was a heartbreaker for Anaheim as the Blackhawks went into Anaheim and escaped with a win. Chicago just wouldn't go away.

* The Minnesota Wild took another loss as they were tamed 3-1 by the visiting Winnipeg Jets.

* Tampa Bay didn't have enough to win as they fell 4-2 on the road at the Washington Capitals.

* The Detroit Red Wings needed Overtime to put away the Edmonton Oilers at home 4-3.

* The Florida Panthers needed a Shootout to defeat the visiting New York Islanders 3-2.

These were among the 12 games played today. Congratulations to all other winners.

Here are some results from Saturday...

* The Minnesota Wild held down the Dallas Stars 3-0 for most of the game. However, three unanswered goals by Dallas late forced Overtime. The final deathblow was dealt by Dallas as they won 4-3 at the Minnesota Wild in Overtime. This loss hurts for RedDragon's Wild almost as much as yesterday's fail by the Anaheim Ducks to the Chicago Blackhawks. Regardless, kudos to Sanji Himura's Stars for coming from behind and pulling out a win like this.

* The New York Rangers took some chin music themselves, losing 3-0 at home to the Philadelphia Flyers.

* The New York Islanders went down to Tampa Bay to entertain the Lightning. The Lightning fell 3-2 to the Islanders.

* Toronto lost 4-2 at home to the Washington Capitals.

* The Montreal Canadiens hosted the New Jersey Devils, and this game couldn't be settled in three periods. New Jersey won 3-2 in Overtime.

* Three periods weren't enough either for the Edmonton Oilers at the Pittsburgh Penguins. Not even Overtime was enough. So Edmonton won 3-2 in a Shootout.

* The Buffalo Sabres won 4-1 on the road at the Nashville Predators.

* Blue rules. The Columbus Blue Jackets met the St. Louis Blues, and the Blues won 3-1.

Congratulations to all other winners from Saturday.

Welcome to December, GTPlaneteers! Ten games are on the card for tonight. Two of them will be on NBCSN- Wild at Blackhawks and Penguins at Sharks. Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks has a chance to extend his point scoring streak to 20 games if he's able to score a point hosting RedDragon's Minnesota Wild.

A few other games for tonight:
* BUF Sabres at DET Red Wings
* FLA Panthers at STL Blues
* DAL Stars at CGY Flames
* VAN Canucks at LA Kings

Enjoy some hockey tonight on this first night of December 2015.

Also, a big hand must go to Garret Sparks of the Toronto Maple Leafs for a shutout in his first ever NHL game as the Leafs beat Edmonton 3-0 I believe

Patrick Kane just cashed in a goal on a Power Play to extend his point scoring streak to 20 games. He is the leading American-born player to score in successive games. All congratulations to Patrick Kane on hitting 20 straight games with a score just now.

As of this post, the MIN at CHI game is tied at 1-1 with about 14 minutes left in the 2nd Period.

Detroit's point streak continues and we finally won a game. Granted, it needed a shootout and the Red Wings tried to choke it away after allowing Buffalo 3 goals in regulation, but still. Final score- Detroit: 5, Buffalo: 4.

Meanwhile in Chicago, it was a 2-1 victory for RedDragon's Minnesota Wild. I thought it was great for Zach Parise to return to the Wild after sustaining injury some time back. It was Suter for MIN who knocked in the goal that put the Wild ahead for good. The story from this one was Patrick Kane extending his scoring streak to 20 games. Unfortunately for Blackhawks fans, it was mostly spoiled by Chicago not putting away the Minnesota Wild.

Congratulations to the Detroit Red Wings on holding off the Buffalo Sabres at The Joe. Same goes for all other winners from Tuesday's games.

If you love New York City, then you'll love this latest Wednesday Night Rivalry and this week's two haters. It's the Battle for New York City as the New York Rangers will meet the New York Islanders tonight. This is the first time this long rivalry is played out in an arena outside of Long Island. This one will be played at the Islanders' new home- Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The game is on NBCSN tonight as part of the Wednesday Night Rivalry games.

Other games tonight:
* TOR Maple Leafs at WPG Jets
* BOS Bruins at EDM Oilers
* TB Lightning at ANA Ducks

Enjoy some Hump Day Hockey tonight, folks.

The Red Wings showed up today and slaughtered the Arizona Coyotes with a 5-1 victory.

Saturday rundown...

* Six, and no more. The Washington Capitals saw their win streak get snapped thanks to the Winnipeg Jets. Regulation solved nothing, so Overtime was needed for the Jets to win 2-1 at home.

* Three 20-minute periods weren't enough for Detroit and Nashville to settle the score. Overtime was needed in Detroit, as AnthonyD1993's Red Wings won 5-4.

* 3-0 was the score in St. Paul, MN as lamp-lighting and fist bumps were all around for RedDragon's Minnesota Wild today taking down the Colorado Avalanche.

* Make it three wins in a row for the Los Angeles Kings as they downed the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 in Los Angeles.

* kolio's St. Louis Blues could do little to hold down the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto won 4-1 on the road.

* Columbus paid a visit to Philadelphia to meet the Flyers. The Blue Jackets left Philly with a 4-1 win.

Congratulations to all other winners from this Saturday's 10 games.

That was a wild one in Detroit for sure. Detroit was in a deficit, tied the game, went down a goal, and then tied it again. Overtime had multiple scoring opportunities from both teams that made me think "that's the game." Certainly was an entertaining game and also a nail biter for sure!

Ahh, we couldn't do anything!

Stl. Blues have lost Steve Ott for 3 months after he did the splits Saturday night. :nervous:

It really seems like Murphy's Law struck the Blues hard this season..

Later this hour, NBCSN will show the Detroit Red Wings at the Washington Capitals. This will be the final meeting of the season between these two with both winning a game against each other. So in baseball speak, tonight's match in Washington, D.C. is the Rubber Game of this series. This Rubber Game isn't the Detroit Tigers at the Washington Nationals, but the Detroit Red Wings at the Washington Capitals.

Anyhow... enjoy some NHL hockey tonight, fans.

Detroit lost to Washington 3-2 in a Shootout. Both teams continue their respective point streaks, and the Caps took the lead in the Metropolitan with the victory.

Yeah, I saw most of DET at WAS. It probably would have been a Red Wings win had it not been for A. Ovechkin tying things up at 2. Tough break for the Red Wings.

Wow... that stinks, kolio. Hope Steve Ott gets well soon.
If I recall correct another players skate caught under his when go torwards to boards. If it would have happened at center ice no harm would have happened.

Thankfully he just had a successful surgery. :)

The NHL is ready to give you some hockey loving on this night of hate. Wednesday Night Rivalry this time involves two of the NHL's Original Six clashing in Canada. Three other games fill out a four-game lineup for tonight. This is Wednesday's lineup of games:

* BOS Bruins at MON Canadiens (NBCSN Wednesday Night Rivalry)
* SJ Sharks at EDM Oilers
* NYR Rangers at VAN Canucks
* PIT Penguins at COL Avalanche (NBCSN)

Well, go enjoy some hockey tonight.

Boston decided to play winning hockey in the 3rd Period, as they scored three unanswered goals to win 3-1 at Montreal. The Habs just went flat after being up 1-0 for most of the game. These two teams will meet in Foxborough, MA on New Year's Day among the many Stadium Series games. The Canadiens SURELY will want revenge once that game rolls around.

This season marks 20 years of Colorado Avalanche hockey. Can you believe it? I saw that on the ice as I am watching Pittsburgh at Colorado. I usually think of goalie Patrick Roy when I think of the Avalanche. Happy 20th, Avs!

Before I end this post, I should have mentioned yesterday about Pascal DuPuis retiring from hockey due to complications from blood clots. I hope he will be able to stay healthy as I wish him well in his retirement.

Congratulations to all the winners from tonight's games.

Please wish Dan Hamhuis a speedy recovery. He sustained a facial fracture in last night's game against the New York Rangers blocking a Dan Boyle slap shot. He is slated to undergo surgery tomorrow with no timetable to his return.

Two of the most successful franchises in the NHL squared off a the Joe today. The Montreal Canadiens battled the Detroit Red Wings, and the Red Wings won 3-2 in regulation. The Red Wings are now four points behind Montreal in the Atlantic.
