No Restrictions = No Challenge = No fun?

First restiction is that you need a certain car to do the actual event .... if people dont have the money then they cant get the cars (challenge)

No one says you have to tune it up so do it as a stock car (challenge)

Getting the money to tune it up to make it easy (challenge)

What you moaning about? just play the game :/

Two of your so-called challenges there rely solely on making money, which in this game is nothing but a grind. In what reality is setting your bob loose and doing something else a challenge? Seriously pal, if you could answer that intelligently, I'd send you money.

You know what else? I have ever right to complain, because I am a dissatisfied consumer. This game was not worth the price it was sold at, and I think I'm going to be done with it until they fix it. Mass Effect 2 sounds like a lot more fun right now.

You complain that the game is a grind AKA hard to make money. PD gives you the Seasonal events to help with that and you complain they are too easy. Really? Of course you areba dissatisfied customer, doesn't look like they could satisfy you.

I like that you have a choice to either learn how to drive well or just upgrade the crap out of the car and collect your $$$.

I wish they would put a limit on the tires at least so I can be forced to drive the race somewhat how they intended.

I've been reading lots of threads like this one in several different forums and I really can't understand how can so many people find having no restrictions ok...

Would you feel the same if all games were like this one? Because if all companies did the same with their games, they'll probably be really happy to save lots of hours developing them. Imagine, let's say ,God of War where you can adjust the damage of your weapons and HP or a shooter where you can have all guns, ammo and equipment you want for every level "to make the challenge yourself"... No need for testing, let people do whatever they want, that's simply lazy

There are many good games completely ruined because they are way too easy or painfully difficult due to a bad testing. In GT5 they didn't take the risk, there's no need for testing a challenge because the users are going to do that for them.

I've had this feeling with GT5 since the beginning and I obviously try to make the challenge myself, I don't find rewarding winning an average Japanese cup race with a Nissan GTR fully tuned, but that trial-and error time that I have to spend until "I do the challenge myself" is too annoying.

PD, have you heard about difficulty levels? set the current GT5 challenges as "piece of cake" difficulty mode for all those people that want to gold everything easily and add the rest of difficulty levels with restrictions for everyone else, so we don't waste our time doing your job

I have used these forums for years as a resource to making my collections in the GT franchise diverse...it has been an easy/hard road to follow. Self discipline and restraint has made my victories sweeter. But by no means do i give a rats a$$ if anyone else notices or cares.

You want challenges do the Challenges section.

Lots of people are right on this thread....you cant win some races without modding the crap out of your car.

I site the case of the 1943 VW Schwimmwagen....there is no way to win that race without dooing about 70% mods to it... im a good driver but that was ridiculous. At one point i was passing cars and not gaining positions:scared::scared:..

..anyways sometimes you have to do unrealistic mods to cars that wouldnt accept them in the first place.

BTW the one below is for sale for 150k

Simply explain to me how what I do in my game at all effects your game?

I don't see where he said that it does.

Great post, Pata. Agree 100%.

His words. This game can be as hard as YOU want it or as easy as YOU want it. What I do in my game no way effect what you do in yours. They didn't simply make this game easy, the simply gave everyone the opportunity to play how they want. Yeah it took me two months to get to level 20, my son started playing on his account and was level 17 in 10 mins. Does it effect me, nope. If it hurts my feelings because I worked harder then he did then I have more problems in life then an easy video game.

I don't care how others play the game (except online when it comes to clean racing); and they don't affect how I play the game either ; nuff said?

For the whiners in this thread who think the game has been ruined, your complaints seem to be from an elitist platform. You seem to be saying, "If I can beat these events with a stock car, then why can't everyone?" You need to look at this a different way. If you can beat all of these with a stock car, or as close to stock as possible, then you made more money than me in the end. And, that still allows you to be better than me and feed your ego, so you should be happy.

I'm not saying that anything you do in your game affects me in any way, and I'm not saying that this game is ruined for being too easy either...

What I'm trying to say is that having no restrictions affects me because I have to waste my time making a real challenge.

Yes, EVERYBODY can make any challenge as easy or difficult as EVERYBODY want it, but if no restrictions were the "easy difficulty level" everybody could still make their own challenges, and those that want to be challenged by others, like me, could have their challenges without spending time on making them...

They key is that trial-and-error that I have to make, first, to be sure that a gold is actually possible to achieve and second, that it will need at least some effort from my side to finish on the first place...

Most game developers spend quite a lot of time testing their challenges, except PD. Anyway, what I find most suprising, is all the people who think "how good are the PD guys, that give me the opportunity to make my own challenge"

As I said before, I honestly think that they are simply lazy...

So essentially it is too difficult to make difficult? Hmmm. Maybe I don't want to waste time chasing a gold for 6 hours and just want to jump in and have a little fun. Bottom line is GT5 allows us BOTH to have the game the way we like it. Both of us are going to have to work for it, me tuning my cars so I can win and you de-tuning your cars so it is a challenge (which takes all of 5 min). If they make it too hard they alienate me and apparently if they make it too easy they alienate you. This way we both get the game we want, we just have to put in a little effort. You can not please everyone but this is a very nice compromise to satisfy a larger swath of people.

I'm no elitist, I'm new to GT and a pretty average controller player at best (probably far below average on this forum.) But I don't want to be patronized by the game.

Also, no one's suggesting that all the challenges be "elite" level (pure stock, no upgrades, etc.) A good range from beginner to elite would be great and appeal to everyone I think.

Players of all skill levels should be able to earn credits more easily, buy more vehicles and experiment with various upgrades without going broke immediately. But gimping the Seasonal races in order to dole out cash was a big mistake.

To anyone saying we should "pretend there are limitations" or whatever... why don't you just play with some Mattel toy cars and pretend you're winning at GT5? Why buy The Real Driving Simulator if you just want a "win race" button? Why not just play NFS Hot Pursuit instead if you're just gonna win every race for quick cash by adding racing softs?

Who are you to tell me how to play MY game? Not an elitist huh? So if I do not play the game the way you see fit I should just go play NFS. Wow. P*** off.

Aaand yet you insist that everyone be subjected to no restrictions because you want no challenge. No double-standard there, eh? :D

BTW swearing after a couple of replies already? Tsk tsk. your trolling is far too weak and emotional to be calling yourself "Resident Troll". "Beginner Troll" sounds more like it.

Just one remark, racing a challenge is fun, creating it isn't. And well, both of us could save those 5 min of tuning/de-tunning (plus all the unnecessary test driving which is much more than 5 min) if PD worked on different difficulty levels, which is something that should be expected for a game like this

You are right, is difficult to please everybody, but in this case, it could have been really easy for an even larger swath of people if they spent the time that the rest of developers usually spend...

Just use a standard car. If that doesn't work, give it some racing hard tires. If THAT doesn't work, give it a bigger turbo or something like that.
What's the problem in that? Or do you just get annoyed by people who play the game in a different way than you do?

I really get fed up with people complaining that they want the challenge, but don't want to make it a challenge for themselves. People have to understand that the difficulty for being a challenge, differs from man to man. Actually, the way it is now is the only way to satisfy everybody. Just make it as hard as you please. Tadaaaaaa!!!! Simple huh?

Sheesh :)

You make it sound like PD completely revamped the game so you elitists no longer have your game. In reality they simply made it appealing to everyone. That somehow hurts your feelings because now anyone can rank up and not have to spend years to do it and you no longer can brag about it. Oooooh look at me I'm level 40, only took a year. Oooooooh look at me, I'm level 40, only took a few months and I know what the weather is like outside.

PS, I never insisted anything, PD did and I am sure it is all based on numbers. When the first seasonal events came out I would bet only a small percentage of people actually completed them. That is a big fail. I bet way more complete these, which in turn keeps people interested which in turn yields more consumers for DLC which will come.

Stop being selfish and start thinking about the longevity of this game.

I like that you have a choice to either learn how to drive well or just upgrade the crap out of the car and collect your $$$.

The choice is actually: learn how to drive well, and maximise your prize money, OR upgrade the crap out of your car and collect a minimum of $$ in each race.

Its so funny reading all these "oooh this event was SOOOOOOOOOOO easy. All I had to do was overpower the AI by a factor 2,5 and change from Comfort hards to Racing softs."

Rightly said, unless you have tuned your car before of course, not tuning a car would maximize your earnings. See i tune my cars just enough to not only win a race but maximize my earnings.

Probably not even a 1% of the time I spend:
1. Driving around with a stock car to realize that the gold is impossible to achieve (i.e. Schimmwagen event)
2. Adding just one upgrade to realize that it's still impossible to achieve
3. Adding some more upgrades one by one until I feel that I've got a challenge
4. Questioning myself if the challenge is actually possible with less upgrades

See my point?

I see your point, but that point doesn't match up to the other points which have been made, like making the game accessible for everybody.

And that's why I mention several times, that the game should have difficulty levels:

No restrictions: Easy
Just a few restrictions: Normal
Several restrictions: Difficult
Stock Cars: Nightmare of whatever you want to call it as long as it is tested and possible to achieve

The thing is that difficulty levels require time, effort and testing from the developers so you can make the game accesible for everybody, while keeping a challenge for those who enjoy beating a difficult challenge, and this is something that hasn't been done by PD... their lazyness make me spend a lot of time on something that should be done by them.

I don't want anybody to get frustrated due to forced restrictions for everyone, I just want to play and enjoy the game and it's challenges without having to test them first

Im all for multiple difficulties, but I don't think that's ever gonna happen

PD seems to go from one extreme to another, they were to restrictive at first to the point most people never had the time/patience to try and win them, now they go too fae the other way and make then too easy, there should be at least a max HP limit, maybe a tire restriction, although not to extreme but still.

Im all for multiple difficulties, but I don't think that's ever gonna happen

Yeah, I think that's not going to happen either, but that's exactly what infuriates me... I'm not asking for anything strange or special, I'm asking for something that is implemented in most games...

Anyway, I still don't understand how so many people supports PD decision simply saying that this way the game is accesible for everyone... it is with difficulty levels too, which is a standard, and not everybody is that happy to make their own challenges, otherwise we wouldn't see threads like this one everywhere...

I try not to read this thread, and certainly try not to respond...but I'm sucked in.

I think it's funny to read people complaining about "wasting their time" when playing a video game! Isn't that what they're for? Do we really want to maximize our productivity when playing our games?
