Wait, so you can't have online track days?!? I remember reading off the Gran Turismo website about a month and a half ago and it definetly said you could have track days.
It said something like race with your friends, whether it be to set your fastest times or just to teach someone how to drift.

I hope you can atleast do it with your friends, if not i won't be happy!

You can. It's called Free Run.

I heard the ring was bought by a private company that built roller coasters, hotels, and a shopping mall. Now they're not making money so they're cutting back on the track maintenance and such.

SO YES! Appreciate the ring while its here.

Agree with all the above posts:tup:

My best experience with the game was the first time I did three laps of the 24hr circuit with weather and time. Starting on a wet miserable afternoon with grey clouds and heavy rain, and driving around the course seeing the day getting later and later was incredible.

When it got to night time and the course was pitch black was incredible, especially seeing all the lights from the spectators around the track.

Then when dawn finally broke, and there was a slight mist in the air, I just thought to myself how truly excellent this game is. Dynamic weather and time have been implemented really well.

Despite all the flaws this game has (less so since the great update) I fail to see how anyone can't be in love with it if they were to do a few laps of the ring with weather/ time on.

Good work PD!
Hey Stalker, I just unlocked the ability to do some kind of 4 hour endurance challenge on nordschleif, and its now available in arcade mode, but I dont know where the challenge actually is? Do you know what I'm referring to? I see the options for the race, including laps, but there isn't anything allowing me to do some special 4 hour race?

When do I get race the event you mentioned above?

Before GT5 it was "meh, boring track, too long, no fun" (Forza and GT4 wise), but after running the 'Ring in some slower cars (preferably an Alfa Romeo TZ2), I love the track. I always try to catch a lobby just doing some free runs on the track (preferably early morning or when the sun starts to set) and it's just exciting.

Then I try to go a bit faster and choose some high performance cars and push 'en hard and end up NOT enjoying it :(.

But running the 'Ring with a TZ2 is probably my favorite thing to do in online lobbies. Also seeing the sun rise while prancing around on the track is just a major "holly ****" *slows down a little*, and then driving at night keeps you on your toes and gets your racing senses tingling.

Now I want to drive my TZ2 lol....but gotta get to bed :(.

Nordschleife is the best track of GT5 and it's wonderfully recreated. I just love it when I'm there with F458 Italia or Gallardo.

For the full Nurburgring experience, we desperately need Porsches and Manthey front and rear spoiler upgrades.

I saw a current gen GT3 RS overtaking the modded e46 M3 I was riding in, and wow, that car really does feel like a street legal race car. The stock ground clearance is only slightly higher than the cup cars.

Its nice that we atleast get some RUfs in GT5, but that's so Michael Jackson era isn't it? Manthey is as current as Daft Punk is right now.

You sure can and it's awesome just cruising casually online with a bunch of cool friends.

Acually you can do it with 15 friends (you being the 16th :sly:)

I really love the track, can't get enough of it.
When ever I have a 10 minutes I drive a Lap.

The Nordschleife is the eighth wonder of the world! Every new car I buy or win gets taken there before I do anything else. My garage is ranked into Sub 7's, Sub 8's, Sub 9's, Sub 10's and Garbage, based on how quickly the go round it.

Spent all last night driving round the 'ring. The sense of speed in cockpit view with the HUD turned off is incredible :)

I recently drove my SLR on ring at night. I like how clock work correctly :) with HUD switched off it's real porn for me :)

Had a run or 2 in real life on it and must say its become very good ingame, look at the video's from GTV about 24H NS!
Very sick track imo :p

Curious, why does the 24hr version have a section of the GP circuit missing? I don't care much for that 2nd turn, especially at night.

Because for the real 24h race there are several layouts possible. Sometimes they don't even go until Dunlop-Schleife and take the DTM shortcut (like in the DTM event in GT5). Could be possible that leaving out the Mercedes arena had been done during the race that Kaz participated.

And for sure, for the real experience you would need Manthey Porsche, Zakspeed Porsche and all the other GT3'S. But the most exciting expierence during the 24h race had been hearing and seeing the Falken Nissan skyline, back in 2003 when they participated that race.

I absolutely love it. (But ever since the update, I always go to arcade mode, set the damage to heavy, and race at least three laps on the 24hr Nurburg course (sometimes even 24hr de la Sarthe))

You can now set mechanical damage in GT Mode's Practice mode.

All hail the 'ring! I've been a fan of the track since I first played it in PGR2 ;), been hooked ever since. So in love with the track I am, that I find it hard to shift to those other small and awkward tracks.

For me, Nurburgring Nordschleife is the ultimate test of skill, endurance, man, machine, and car setup! Nothing else on GT5 even comes close. 👍

I think what you're referring to is a message that popped up telling you that you've unlocked the 4hr layout of the track.

This is the Nordschleife track.

The 24hr track is the Nordschleife plus the GP track combined.

When you unlocked the 4hr track, you should've unlocked the 24hr track I think. I'm sure I did. This is the track I'm talking about in my previous post.

As far as I know, there is no 4hr challenge, but I could be wrong as I've not unlocked the endurance races yet.

The sacred place of driving. The mecca of the motorworld. The green hell. Beautifull and dangerous at the same time. A 12.9 miles behemoth of a course with promethean straights and snaky turns, rollercoster rides and criminal crests. Not one chicane.

Merry Christmas Nordschleife! :)

Best damn track ever!! I've been driving simulated versions of this track for years now and it's definitely in my bucket list to go to the track and drive a car around it.

I've found some info on the net. Gotta sift through my favorites but somewhere in there I found an agency that will rent you a number of cars to drive it around the Ring. I'd take an Alfa Romeo Touring Car and it was around $6k for the car, tires, fuel and instructor for a full track day.

It's in my to-do list within the next 5 - 10 years. And what's this about the track being in tough financial trouble? Is it really in danger of getting closed down?!?! :(

I might have to travel there sooner than later! Please, anyone have any more info?

A blast in reallife. Was there 2000 with my old Golf Mk3 VR6 (190hp yey). I drove carefully and still had 2 wheels in the grass once somewhere at the end of "Fuchsröhre". WOW, what a track. (from Austria, from my Hometown about 8 hour drive to it)

In GT5, even more amazing. Finally I can enjoy it without cylists, tourist busses, YES REAL STORE HIGH BUSSES with japanese tourists ON THE TRACK. Imagine that bus in the "Karusell".
I can drive the most incredible cars ever (that I will never own myself) on the greatest track ever, now with rain and changing light. Thanks Polyphony.

A masterpiece of motorsport history.

PS: Too bad PD can't simulate G-Force yet, on the other hand ... Who would do 24h Nürburgring Endurance Race with simulated G-Forces ? I would be able to withstand that all day long ... ouch

The game really does come alive at this track, you can feel how much effort they put into it. The AMG driving school with the SLS is a great case in point. I love how with the 24h layout the track is suddenly full of spectators, tents, campfires, smoke, etc. I gotta check out how that looks at night now that I think of it.

I went to the Nordschleife is may and august this year. I was sooooo nerves when I was waiting at the barriers to go on the track for my first lap (it was cold & raining hard):nervous:
Porsches, GT-R's, ferrari's,... everything just fly past by you.
It has been by far my most used track in GT4 and it is also in GT5. The Ring is just mind-blowing, a hell to drive but sooooo fun and rewarding

Loads of picture on the nordschleife, veyrons mostly but I like this one the best.
Drifting on a corner, can't remember what one. 8 minutes something. High 8 minute lap I think

The 'Ring has been my favorite track ever since I spent several months learning its corners in GT4. I'm still learning and improving on it today. Gorgeous track, the epitome of challenge. It deserves every bit of praise it gets.
