Sahara mode added:

This allows you to drive freely around the area of Willow Springs and simulate off-roading in the Sahara desert. What? It was Zahara you wanted? No, no, see, the work experience kid got the "S" the wrong way round when he wrote our press release. We binned the course maker and that silly track months ago. It's easier to reuse assets already in-game, as you've probably noticed.

Update 1.12

GPS course maker has now been released but to start with it only works for astronauts who drive on the moon, the route is saved on their mobile and can then be recreated on the moon modelled in GT6. We will add this feature for earth in a later update
 
This is the typical thing that PD does...

1) Announces maintenance.
2) Everyone get into the Hype Train
3) Maintenance takes place normally, no update.
4) Everybody comes crazy as there's no update. Kazunori Yamauchi=Satan
5) PD releases surprise update. Kazunori Yamauchi=God

6) Announces maintenance.

It never ceases to amaze me that the GTPlanet community can manage over a thousand posts about the internet part of a game being turned off for 2 hours, twice.

Why are we assuming there will be no update? Surely if there will be one, it would be after the maintenance is completed, or we wouldn't be able to download it!

Depends on the content, but if it's a seasonal for a new car, or you know, community features, it would only make sense to put it up AFTER the maintenance.
