Yes, people that buy Apple products will be completely for wrapping their $600 device with something that doesn't quite fit.

The fact is Apple's beautiful industrial design is a failure, since you can't actually look at it. And if you want the official solution, you need to spend another $30 and then bulk up the device.

Have you noticed mobile web graphics need updating on a lot of sites to suit the new screen? I think GTPLANET's ok though.
i.tuaw.com , the title bar looks awful because of the resolution increase.

Might also be a good time to update the icon GTPlanet has on my iphone when i bookmark a page and save it on the desktop. Looks a little out of focus compared to all the new fancy icons.

Oh and I think I've decided not to upgrade. Some guy in India called me up yesterday about it, only to have the phone conversation cut off by the rubbish connection. Which to be honest was a blessing, as the line had such a delay that I was answering questions before he'd even asked them. Anyway I'm not massively excited by the prospect of a new one - I think I'll just end the contract and take out a SIM only one.

If your not getting the iPhone, i do think your missing out.

Other than that, i commend your action to make a concise decision and act upon it. So many people upgrading like sheep. I couldn't believe people paying over £360 to end their existing contract with a 3GS, then pay £200 for a new phoneon a 2 year contract. They're mad!

So has anyone bought an actual case for one of these yet or has everyone just got the pricey rubber band? I've decided that I shall buy an iPhone 4 as soon as they come in stock (PAYG) but I really want to get a proper hardcase for it. So far this seems to be the best I've come across as I'm looking to avoid softshells or leather cases which I would have to remove the phone from. I just want a slim hardcase which I can leave the phone in all the time.

GTPlanet's icon has now been updated for the iPhone 4's screen - it should look better on iPads as well. I don't think you need to delete the original bookmark - just try to re-add it and it should refresh the icon. Here's a comparison screenshot that shows the improvement.

I am currently on holiday in Japan and every Softbank shop has one on display, the screen as you said is amazing. Its unbelievable how clear the screen is!

Sweet! Going to sort out my bank account tomorrow and finally get a debit card, think I'll buy sim-free direct from Apple instead of waiting for everyone to release it Pay-as-you-go. I'll be paying £20 more but at least I won't be locked to anyone unlike if I bought from the network. Cannot wait to get my hands on one of these.

So Apple's answer to the bad reception and antenna new stories is a full refund to anyone who isn't happy and doesn't want their iPhone. Also a free bumper (or alternative) case to everyone else up until 30th September or a refund if you've already bought one.

Seems pretty fair to me and based on real life experiences by pretty much everyone who has an iPhone 4 there isn't really a problem especially when compared to other phones. I'll still be getting one in September with the added bonus of a free case

Yes, I'm curious to see how they will "publicize" the fact you can get a Bumper for free. I have not experienced any signal issues with my iPhone 4 (I've actually seen slightly improved reception and significantly better WiFi performance), but I purchased a black Bumper because it's the perfect case for my needs (it is great). And, now that I know it's not going to cost me anything, I love it even more.

Well I got the phone and it's great. I'm a lefty and the antenna thing is not really an issue at all. It only drops signal if I give it a deathgrip. That said, I'll still be getting a bumper. U want to protect my precious camera. Lol.

Quick heads up though: bumpers and cases will only be available for free online. They pulled bumpers off the shelves here at the apple store.

I discovered that the old fat ipod dock/base thing works with this new iphone. It doesn't have speaker holes or anything, but at least it stands up and in place on the dock. Now I can finally use my phone like an alarm clock again. I gotta find my 1st gen iphone dock to see if it also fits. I'll probably drive myself nuts looking for it though because I'm not sure if I sold it with the phone.

Edit: Well, I just blinded the **** outta myself with the LED flash. That thing is BRIGHT! WTF!

I've been reading all about this signal problem and I can't understand why anyone would accept some cheap ugly rubber case as a solution to a clearly badly designed expensive product, I would just go an get a full refund and wait until the inevitable revision 'a' comes out probably within months. Apple is know for its industrial design so why would you accept having to cove it up to make it work.

And also I (as well as other smartphone manufacturers) cannot stand the way Jobs has tried to claim this is an industry wide problem. The reality is there are no problems with any other phones signal and Apple have just been pushing Foxconn's production to hard and the quality has suffered.

I don't get what has happened with Apple in the last year they have become such an off putting company both in there manufacturing practices and Steve Job's rants. I miss the old niche (early 2000's) style Apple.

I've not had any problems with the phone's reception at all. I can't figure why so many people have moaned about this. I must admit Job's and Co could have not used other manufactures phone's as examples of poor reception in the death grip.

I love my new phone and wouldnt give it up and wouldn't go back to my 3G either. All in all the phone is a fantastic product and the arial problems are out of proprtion.

If Apple want to give me a free bumper then I will take one, simply to stop or limit the inevitable scratches or minor damage that happens durin ownership over the two years I will have the phone till I upgrade.
