Which are the differences between these 2 versions?
Does the PAL version has more/less/different cars than NTSC version?
I've asked at gamefaqs.com and they told me that there are many PAL players.

The PAL version has different and more cars and more frames per second. Those are the only differences I know of, and someone will correct me if I'm wrong

There's also different soundtracks - we're only talking about a couple of songs here, but still it's a difference. :)

i think PAL runs at a higher res, but lower fps, locked at 50fps i think. but 576i or something.

thats my understanding of it, except i heard pal was 25 frames per second, and NTSC was 30.

Mission 34 is easier with PAL and you are more likely to have your b-spec driver hitting the wall on the Mulsanne straight ;-)

Steven

True, PAL version has to wait about 7(?) seconds less in Mission 34 I think. :) Ahhhh, gotta love it.

as I understood it some the gold times are lower on PAL, thus making it harder to get the holy 80 golds, however like stevendunn and ferrari_chris pointed out mission 34 is easier. but it ain't easy!

I'm sure famine will know every single difference !!

PAL runs at 50 Mhz (so I assume 50 fps) whereas NTSC is 60 Mhz (60 fps?)

As for the cars this is where it gets interesting...

Original Japanese/Asian (NTSC) releases (3 versions) have 710 cars (oncluding the old Mini Cooper 1.3i)

Next up was the American (NTSC) release with 722 cars (no old Mini or Esso-Ultraflo Supra but other new cars)

Final releases (same day):

PAL release has 730 cars (no old Mini, Esso-Ultraflo Supra is present, remaining 7 cars are a duplicate set of Opels badged as Vauxhall)

Korean (NTSC) release has 726 cars (no old Mini, Esso-Ultraflo Supra is present, 4 new Korean cars - Hyundai Click Type R, Hyundai Tiburon Turbulence, Hyundai Tuscani CCS and Lexus IS200 Korean Racer)

Those last four I took pictures of for my Web site here:

http://www.rogs.dial.pipex.com/PhotoMode4.htm

Technically the Korean NTSC has the most cars as the Vauxhalls only have different badging from their Opel equivalents.

That's exactly what i wanted to know. Thanks

it's 50Hz and 60Hz respectively.

and what do you mean by getting out more, mad matt

Mr Peacekeeper, if you have to ask it's probably too late! This guy actually counted them all, does the word Anorak mean the same in Canada?

RogsR34UK do you have an easy way to get me the NA (NTSC) release car list. I have been working on it and am only coming up with 721 cars and not 722.

Wow wow wow. Is that aimed at me? If so, I'd just like to state that I copied and pasted an almost correct list from another site into excel, cleaned it up and used the row numbers to work out exactly how many cars there are. Yep. I sure did.

^ , you live in Virginia (so I read anyway), you should have NTSC if you live in the USA.

Just to confirm this though, it should be written below the title on the side of the GT4 cover, NTSC U/C, way at the bottom of the side.

ive already stated the amount of frames per second for the two different version. and no its not 50 or 60 fps.

The extra car in the American version is the Ford GT '05 without stripes. Won from the Premium Car Lounge race in the Extreme Hall. This does not appear in the Arcade.

this is mainly aimed at the guys (and gals) wIth the NTSC version of the game, in your autstralian manufacturers part, are there any of these vehicles, i have seen car lists that state that these are in the game, but in my PAL version, for oz, they dont exist.

XR6 Turbo (not F6 TYPHOON)
XR8 XPLOD Concept
HSV HRT 427
Commodore V8 Supercar
HSV GTS
HSV Monaro GTS

If someone could clear up this confusion for me, if they exist, in another version, ill get that version as aussie cars in video games are hard to come accross.

Cheers

Those cars do not exist in any version of the game. The cars that were in the original Japanese/Asian release are the only Australian cars in the game. In the later versions, the Typhoon gained some "go-faster" stripes.

The Australian contingent consists of:

Ford Falcon XR8 Race Car ('00)
FPV F6 Typhoon ('04)
FPV GT ('04)
Holden Commodore SS Series II ('04)
Holden Monaro CV8 ('04)

hey RogsR34UK: I analised your first post and there are 2 cars missing: No mini but Esso-Ultraflo (722 at total), ford gt without stripes missing (721), 7 vauxhall (728).
Does anyone know the other 2 cars?

Japan version 710 cars.

American version 722 cars.

The new cars (14 of them):

Alfa Romeo Alfa GT
Audi Nuvolari Quattro
Audi Pikes Peak Quattro
Auto Union V16 Type C Streamliner
Chaparral 2D
Chaparral 2J
Chrysler 300C Hemi
Ford GT '05 (Unstriped)
HPA Motorsports Volkswagen Golf R32
Jaguar XJR9
Mazda 2005 MX-Crossport
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT '06
Peugeot 905
Proto Motors Spirra 4.6 GT

2 Removals (making 708 from Japanese version)

Mini Cooper 1.3i
Esso-Ultraflow Supra

708+14=722

PAL Version

7 Vauxhalls added plus the 14 new cars in the American version

1 Removal in the shape of the Mini Cooper 1.3i (making 709 from Japanese version)

So 709+14+7=730

In the official car list published by Polyphony there are only 721 cars in NA version. You forget to exclude one or there are only 729 cars in the PAL version. If anyone could clarify this, or post a link to a PAL version full car list i would appreciate.
Thanks in advance
