I wonder if there will be track officials and other drivers on Nuburgring on free runs. Usually, alot of people will be on the course at the same time. Bikers and Rabbits or whatever. I watched a few videos and noticed that it can get a little hectic. It would be kind of cool to see other drivers doing hot laps.

In one video I saw, There was a double-decker BUS on the burg! I was LMAO!

I think one feature of the online mode that has been hinted at is that time trial / free run / testing mode can be online. I infer this because they claim they are trying to make "all modes of game play available on line". This would be very cool - if it is fact available, I would like to see the need to come into the pits in order to make adjustments to the setup of your car, rather then exiting the race mid lap to make adjustments, thus making your car just disappear from the track.

Imagine developing your project touring car, running test laps and coming in to the pits to make adjustments, while others are doing the same thing - only with a wide range of cars being prepared for different forms of championships.

On the other hand, it is very common for manufactuers to rent out the 'ring, so I would assume it will be possible to run on it as the sole car.

If this is including it will be real good, adding to the realism factor hugely and also if it is in the game, pitting to make adjustments rather than the car just dissappearing would be a great feature too like Greyout suggested.

Wont affect me though, no way of getting broadband where i live :( :(

Wow, that's lame. Sorry to hear that man.

I actually sorta like this idea, it'd make for some pretty laid back OLR. You could still push for a good lap every now and then or just tour around taunting the slower traffic, watching some guy set a great lap. I think it'd be sorta neat to have a scoreboard option when you pull into the pits, so you can see who's going fastest for the session, who's taking years in a pathetically slow car, etc. Having split times and speed traps just like in F1 sounds pretty cool.

No matter how cool this would be there is still the posibility of the asshole who rams into people while you are trying to practice.

Unless it's set to no crashing and you just drive through people that are on the track?!

Well you guys have to remember the Nurb is an actual road that traffic goes on sometimes. Anyway I quite like this idea as I've seen footage of an R34 Skyline going on the nurb while other cars were there testing and stuff. I know there may be idiots who would go around ramming other people but if PD make a good system that kicks noobs out if they try and mess with other racers it could be very cool.

Which would actually make quite a deal of sense because if you're practicing you don't want your times negatively affected by retards, nor positively so by slipstreaming or shunting.

For the Nurburgring Extras:

I just hope PD creates a realistic replication of the famous track.
There should be many of the noted road imperfections such as the various bumps and dips in parts of the track. If they do have weather effects or even if it a "grey-day" many parts of the track have water puddles which can produce hydro-planing and slippery surfaces.

Lets hope they put in the great feel of the elevation changes in the game. These various height elevations on straights and corners hopefully should effect the car's physics. The Nurburgring also has many corners and most of them have the red/white rumble strips. In real life, they greatly effect the cars as they 'ramp' over them on apexes.

Let's also don't forget the detail of the various "chalk graffiti" scattered all throughout the track. If PD puts that in, it'll definately give a realistic feel!

There are many sites describing each and every corner of the great "Ring". Eventhough PD has gone to The Ring, lets hope they put in those detailed characteristics which the Nurburgring is famous for and why all the manufacturers around the world test their great cars there. Can't wait to drive on the ultimate test track!!!

i for one would love all these features in GT4 but i personally think there just pipe dreams, but i would still love them to be included. I can wait to hope into my M3/M5 and blast round the ring.

Great idea georgeymoney. I've watched loads of 'burg vids and it's not uncommon to see buses, bikes, cars and vans all driving round the circuit, after all it is a public road. Being able to test at the track online would be cool, being able to see others in action and how they take different corners would be really ace. However you would either need a system where by u can't crash into each other or a voting system to get ride of any n00bs who might try to spoil things.

Add onto that the fact in real life you need to pay to get onto the track, why not charge each driver a set amount for each lap from their game credits. Would be a nice touch.

Cheers

That is something that I've been searching for in all the Nurburgring footage I came across, but really never saw any.
It would definitely give more sense of realism, since it is almost a trademark of Nurburgring.

While I'll still feel left out, at least now I know I won't be alone. :D :indiff:

Something tells me we won't be seeing the chalk lettering on the 'Ring, but may PD prove me wrong.

The Burg is an actual road? Seriously? That is very strange and news to me! I thought it was just a track. hmmm..

It'd be very stupid if regular traffic was driving on it, they obviously have to close it when racing. Plus, if traffic gets on it and goes off it, your car must be able to do the same, but this is not GTA, it's GT.

Yes, theres loads of it. Some of it was put there as markers when people were testing a car there theres plenty of names scribbled on the track for all the drivers that have died there and then theres a bit of usual graffiti crap that spectators and track visitors have done.

No. It is not a public road.
It's a track, but it's open to the public. You pay and drive.

Well the PGR2 version has the chalk markings quite well along the track, and the PGR2 version has the main bumps and dips that the real one has so knowing PD they will make it just as good if not better.

It's reproduced to within 15mm accuracy according to PD, I assume that takes into account the elevation changes as well.

I reckon that the chalk graffiti will make it in for some part... I.e. where famous people crashed/died etc but not the spectators stuff like "Chaz from Essex UK is great" and stuff!

Concerning elevation changes... they will be there!!

The 'ring' by law is a public road - you are encouraged to drive on the right hand side and overtake on the left. Any accidents have to be reported to the police, and certain rules of the german highwaycode still apply.

The Ring is legally a road but also undeniably a track

I am splitting hairs a little, but even for insurance reasons its still concidered a public road (unless its closed for the very few races that are still held there, or private manufactures testing)

:sly: Th Nurburgring Nordschleife and the F1 trackwere in use.3.6km and the winner cars:BMW M3 GTR #42(J.Muller,D.MullerH.J.Stuck) #43car(B.Said,P.LamyD.Huismann), second. The so called Manthey Porsche 996GT3 mRcaught out the DTM-TTR Audi, and the R-34 GTR Falken Skyline reached a good fifth. It rained alot, and even fog hampered the 288 cars in the night. All JGTC cars went out during this period.
And yes the graffitti is Very slippery indeed, some R.I.P`s(Seen from the Helicam duringthe race) indicates that here and there drivers lost lives.DAS GRûNE Hôlle, worlds thoughest race.Deutche Sports Fernsehen sendt the hole package.Fantastisch!!
